Oh yeah. No bitching about "hey, this character was left out!" There's only 10 slots folks, we limited it to one character per series, and went with the things that were suggested among staff that came up first. We tried to get a balance of iconic, well known, and a couple current characters.

We all had other suggestions we wanted up there that didn't make it. Its just for fun.

Gally is from Battle Angel (known as Battle Angel Alita in the US)
Utena is from Revolutionary Girl Utena
Nausicaa is from Nausicaa of Valley of the Wind, one of the better Miyazaki films imo.

Its sad how many of these classic anime girls are not known. I feel kinda old now XD

The manga is only 8 volumes,or 4 if you have the revised edition.

Also left out A-ko because I couldn't find a decent picture of her, the Harlock universe, and everything done by Johji Manabe, simply because I assume most of the audience on this board doesn't know those very well, even if Outlanders is one of my all time faves.

Too bad about the Harlock girls like Queen Emeraldas, and of course Aisha Clan Clan. Heh, I never finished Outlaw Star, but I did enjoy whatever I did watch.

And if I had voted on that Best Hero poll, it would've gone to Great Teacher Onizuka! I freaking loved that show it was so brilliant and the manga is even better.
