Another thread form the looked over Namisan18. Well this thread (as said by the title) is to thank the ones who make things safe by censoring, butchering, and just plane defiling the things we hold dear. This isn't just a shout out to soccer moms but to all those other people who have no lifes in order to make our lives unliveable. Politions…Lawyers....and what not all deserve our thanks.

Okay here are the rules:

You can only thank people who are outside of the forums. NOT people on these forums or mods or admids (They scare me )

And also nothing else that would get me or you baned

Finaly just have fun and be thankfull

Thank you unatentive parents....If it wern't for you a 9 year old wouldn't be able to buy and eminem cd or buy grand theft auto (that is now rated AO) Now thanks to you soccer moms accross the land are having things edited and choped into bits and dumbed down that weren't atended for younger folk anyways.

I have to agree with that GTA ruling though.

Oh dammit, this thing. I rented the game once, and it was pretty fun. I planned on buying it to finish one day, but some greasy kids hacked the game for a retarded sex scene (that was one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen). Now I can't find the game at all. I dunno the details, but if the developers put it in, then they suck too.

But why expect more out of a game where it's possible to have sex with a prostitute and saw her head off to get back the money you got from stabbing an old lady for?

Oh, and Carly, conjugal visits aren't in the cells.

There's already a topic like this in the media section, but I'd like to change my opinion about the whole thing.

At first, I thought it was just a "mod" by someone using their PC copy, but later it was revealed that it was also accessible in the PS2 and Xbox version, so it's really Rockstar's fault for putting in the damn thing.

But, BUT, the outrage is a little too high, since the sex mini game looks at the worst, like softcore porn. So maybe some of the people freaking out over it should turn on the TV and get the same thing basically.

Also, changing it to Adult's Only is really that drastic. I'd like to quote Tycho from Penny Arcade on the subject:

"The ESRB is suggesting that they may change the rating of the game to Adults Only, a category that by their own definition should see a great deal more use in a retail environment. This is great. Look at the descriptions for these.

MATURE Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or strong language.

Or, as the rest of our culture calls it, "Rated R." Check out AO.

Keep in mind that most stores, you have to be 18 to buy Mature rated games, the only difference is that now you can only buy it in Adult stores and straight from Rockstar.

If people like Hillary Clinton are outraged over a crappy minigame, I can't wait to hear her speak against God of War or the Lesiure Suit Larry series (All rated M, baby.)

So now that same lawyer is trying to pick on Sims 2. Really now. Here's an article on Gamespot about that:

Ha ha ha, right. Sims 2 is certainly becoming a porn offering. And EA is cooperating gleefully with the Mod community to do so, which is exactly why they decided to ban/suspend (I can't remember) and/or delete posts on the Sims 2 forums that have any mention of where to obtain the teen woohoo patch. @_@ I'm sorry, that line just gets to me.

But as for the blur thing, that's a mod and not code within the game itself I believe. I say it'd be the person's fault who downloads and installs that mod for their game (unless it was a trick link, which I doubt it was).

Actually, I read the same basic article about the Sims 2 and it says that EA Games actually removed the blur effects on naked sims to reveal….Nothing at all. Every Sim is a Eunich, absolutly no genitalia at all.

So that little rant from Mr. Thompson blew up in his face, which is good because I really like it when a pompous ass like him is publiclly bitch slapped by people.

But I'm almost certain that for games like the Sims there's an explicit clause stated that they just provide the 'canvas', as it were (not the exact word, obviously), and those who create the mods for it are responsible for how they use/abuse the software, not the company who designed and wrote it in the first place. Otherwise you bet your ass by now they certainly WOULD have gotten in trouble years ago. The Hot Coffee mod for GTA:SA exploited the content previously IN the game so it's not gonna work for them there.

I doubt it would be the same as the file-sharing debate; wherein they argue that they just made the software and it's up to the users by what content they choose to distribute over it (since honestly, how many of these prophet that they DON'T encourage music swapping ? Shit, if I need a rare tune I'm happy to bust my money at iTunes for it. No sense in not paying the artist when I've got the money to do it). With an ESRB rating of T, you would be hard-pressed for them to find out that malicious intent was insinuated in the game :rolleyes: The only 'malicious intent' you'll find is the same in any business, wanting to make a profit, and it'd be stinkin' hard to do that if you rate a game like the Sims as AO when the content isn't even there in the first place.

I feel like we're seeing a revival of the Tipper days. :lol:
