I'm doing a paper on "Freedom of Speech" for my English class and I need specific examples of this right being filtered/tampered with/whatever.

But I can't think of any whatsoever!

Is it limited to the US? Well, China banning Google would fit. Pretty much anything related to China and the internet.

Main example that has forever stayed in my mind is Tinker vs. Des Moines.

Armbands, schools limit freedom of speech, etc.

I think the happenings during the elections in Iran 2009/10 might be of interest here. In a nutshell, the results of the election rose suspicions of electoral freud. Demonstrations where held, but soon all of them where supressed through violent means. To stop civilians from organizing other demonstrations, the government then made use of internet-censorship and even went as far as to block the transmission of mobile phones and text messaging. That's because the dates and routes of the demonstrations were always spread at last-minute to stop the government from breaking up the demonstration too early. Without these ways of communication, it was way more complicated, partly even impossible, to meet up and protest.
And even those that managed to arrive, had to fear violent intervention and detention.
So they used a lot of ways to stop people from voicing their opinion.

And I agree on what Kairouseki said, the whole Google vs. China story is a good anecdote concerning this topic.

Lawrence v. Texas (2003) is a great court case to use as evidence for this kind of a topic.

donno if this helps but you might wanna include recent banning (lifted now) of facebook, youtube etc by pakistan. (i can provide you screen shots if you wanna include them).

but this reminds me. Facebook censors too! there are some groups like burn quran day etc which are not accessible if i login via pakistani ip. (proxy works fine). and i am pretty much sure that i read a statement by facebook where they said that they block content based on countries.

                …
