Chapter 597: "3D2Y" Discussion

Explain yourself!
It's quite simple. Usopp told Kaya about dealing with a giant goldfish with poop the size of islands in one of his adventures, a little later on Usopp and the crew run into a giant goldfish with poop the size of islands.
I feel pretty dumb because I totally missed that in my first watching of the anime (which was what I started with.)

And now I have the same feeling. I really had never noticed that.
But not ALL his lies have come true, I believe.
-
Don't forget that his "hammer" lies probably will probably will become true at some point. Maybe he actually will be able to wield a 10t hammer at the end of the manga.
I completely forgot about that. That would be so awesome.

IIRC it was the sea king they ran into at the end of Little Garden (the one that the giants defeated for the crew).

Ohh, lol, gotcha.

Usopp has 8000 followers?
Case closed.
-
Like this? (eyes hurt - so just a quick patch..)

Wasnt already a discussion about it when Sogeking appeared in the Perona fight. All world was screaming that Usopp now only can defeat villains in pulling out good old Sogeking and without him he
s useless (like a superman-clark kent theme).
I was glad as hell that he in the end finished Perona off on his own!
(btw another reason she can`t join, because Usopp was said to be the weakest on the crew..and he can defeat Perona^^)but what if after the time-skip he become positive, only reason he had a chance against perona was cuz he was negative

Actually, my point earlier was that two seperate characters, one named Sogeking, the other Usopp, would show up, at the same time. At first everyone would assume sogeking was Usopp, but then not.
Anyway, most of the lies Usopp has told has come true so far, except for the followers one. Given how big that one is, thats probably being saved for the series finale, and that'll come in due time.
- 80 million followers
- giant goldfish
- island made of poop
- land of the Little People or Dwarves
- legendary mole
- 100 million followers
- Cerberus
- Dragon
- alien from vegetable stand planet
The bolded ones have been shown to be true. Did some research with the help of Stephen's translations and the one piece wiki.
- Giant goldfish and island made of poop was confrimed at the end of Little Garden.
- Dwarves were mentioned in Norland's flashback and were on that slavery list Sanji was looking at.
- A lot of people use Miss Merry Christmas as proof of the mole but there's also the Dirt Boss in Gedatsu's side story which I think fits better.
- A "Cerberus" was made in Thriller Bark, though a real one could show up in the future.
- Dragons are real since Monsters was confirmed to be part of One Piece canon.
- Enel's side story proved there were aliens or at the very least space pirates, but there's no confirmation of planets that have vegetable stands.
And thats just from the Kuro arc. He's had others since that have also been true.
It's also worth noting that, for a short time during Water 7, he was in fact, the Captain of the Going Merry, which is a claim he made all the time.

I think some distinction needs to be made between Usopp's bluffs and Ussop's tall tales. When he tells a tall tale about a giant gold fish and islands made of poo, Oda tends to make those things come true in fairly trivial, unobtrusive ways.
When Ussop bluffs, ex. I have 80 million followers, this hammer weighs ten tons, those things have not been shown to come true. Bluffing is a part of Ussop's fighting style and it is obviously impractical to expect all of those things to come true. Maybe Oda will make one or two of the bluffs come true, for fun, but he certainly isn't working on the theory that "all of Ussop's lies (including bluffs) must come true" as some people say.

You do like to explain it a bit further?
Who should that Sogeking in disguise be and why he wants to trick the SHs?
Or does someone just have the name "Sogeking" and it should be more like a funny part by the reunion? -
then the lie where he defeated a monster without eating breakfast will soon enough come true then i hope

Great list, but you've forgotten one:
"The beautiful swordswoman who is bringing us some meat"
This was the lie that Usopp told on Thriller Bark to get the Monster Trio to shake out of their comatose state after Moria snipped their shadowsHasn't come true yet – but, as usual -- I'm guessing it will either be Tashigi or a character we haven't met yet, who lives on Wano.

Heeeey! that's right – if his problem currently is that he's overeating, then he'll most likely skip breakfast so that he can lose some weight. Nice.
-
朝飯前 (before eating a breakfast) isn't a literal term though.
It just means "piece of cake". Just like saying "it was piece of cake" doesn't literally mean the object was a piece of cake.Of course Oda could spin it that way as an ironic joke, by making it literal.

I keep seeing people mentioning Shilliw as a possible opponent for Zoro beyond Mihawk. While I do think that's possible I have always thought, ever since I first saw him, that the Elder Star with the sword would be the final opponent for Zoro to overcome. It's possible someone else mentioned him, I haven't gone through the entire thread.
I think he will be an incredible swordsman possibly rivaling Mihawk's level, just without the same world renown.
-
Why does Usopp need more muscles anyway?
His fighting style does'nt use his physical power at all, it's projectiles he uses.
Even if it's for some more endurance, well it's not really gonna help much anyway.
EDIT:I'm not arguing he won't, I just don't see the need for itThat's only half of his fighting style. The other half is getting hit in the face with a bat. Muscles help.
-
Zoro vs. Gandhi? Sounds like one hell of a final match. :ninja:

Dude. Amazing line opportunity realization! Note: this has, in my mind, no chance of happening, so it is not a prediction.
Usopp (to villain): I may only have the eighty followers you see before you, but we can still triumph!
Villain: Ha! You say that, but look! In your overconfidence, my eight hundred followers have you surrounded!
Usopp: Sorry, I lied! It turns out my eight thousand followers already tracked this entire ambush, and have completely surrounded them before they had a chance to strike! ( <this part="" being="" the="" truth)<br="">. . . because bluffing being part of Usopp's fighting style will be immortal.</this>

In other words, pull off a Duval with Sogeking and Ussop? That sounds fun, then Sogeking challenging Usopp for the name Sogeking or something completely different.
-
I was always hoping the exact opposite would happen; that the Sogeking name would get so famous that people would coming looking to dual him and refuse to fight Ussop instead, not believing they are the same person.

I can't wait for Sanji to leave Kamabakka with Hell Wink.. the eylash/eyebrow designs for Iva-chan/Sanji, Hell Swirl?

For a while I was hoping Duval would finally perfect his "wink" via Ivankov's Death Wink, but perhaps the gag will be Duval winking horribly again with Sanji's irritated response being a Death Wink.
-
Yes Sanji will Death Wink now with his eye that is covered by the hair.
-
Sanji`s covered eye is one of the great 7 secrets of OP.
Even more secret than the void century or what D. means^^ -
This is true. Oda has said that Sanji's eye is one of the 7 great secrets of One Piece, and it is the only one of the seven we know =P Yay for the SBS.
-
Isn't sanji's eyebrow another? I thought I read that on one piece wiki….

Sanji has the mangekyo sharingan.
-
Not again…please.

As of right now, I'm thinking of Sanji moving his hair to expose his left eye, only to show massive fake eyelashes with a huge amount of mascara and make-up.
Well…..he's not using his hands...
-
Sanji has the eye of the tiger.
Oh, and I would just like to comment on your avatar Charzonsos. It's awesome.

2nd worst prediction about that subject.
(#1 still is the sharingan^^, guess can`t be topped) -

Are you sure?
I say Sanji's hidden eye is

He is an Espada.[/hide]His left eye is
! Empty, he's a hollow with a defect
-
Really, his left eye is
! Sauron. He seeks the One
RingPiece. -
Sanji's left eye is
! Chuck Norris :D
That's why he covers it. Otherwise, we'd all be goners. But seriously, great chapter, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
-
Jesus Christ, it's only been one week and we've already devolved to Sanji's eye. Oda save us all.

Mods save us all and actually do something to stop this madness..
-
Sanji cover's his left eye because….
! he has a
Uni-browreason he's always trying get with the ladies since he never had any luck while showing it off before.
-
Since we have already seen Sanji's left eye numerous times… I doubt its anything special...
-
When ?
-
Those were just editing mistakes in the anime though. Toei can't catch everything. I remember seeing Sanji's left eye when Chopper joins the crew, but there were more instances of that too.
-
were any of these said instances in the actual manga? Or are these all anime occurrences…
-
In the actual Manga…
Let me search for a link
-
I'm fairly confident that we've never seen Sanji's eye in the manga. Even when he's hanging upside down his eye always stays covered.
-
His left eye has only been seen in the anime, I think it was episode 82 and 128..
Edit: I think you could see it in one of the movies too, can't remember which one…
-
Sanji's left eye has Sharingamz
Nah, his left eye is actually One Piece.
