BB can´t learn haki cause he´s not human.
BB can´t learn haki cause he´s not human.
Rayleigh said "all creatures," not "all humans."
So, that means that Sengoku hit Blackbeard Pirates with a massive Haki wave, right?
Hot damn, that man is powerful.
Wow so Mihawk is stupid enough to train his foe to defeat him basically handing Zoro the crown. As we all suspected everyone is gonna train in these two years for a time skip which is all following the basic shounen formula. Haki is nothing more than Ki/Reatsu and other variations from shounen stories it is nothing special.
Time to enjoy these four weeks.
awesome chapter finally got an explanation for haki and a confirmation on a time-skip hopefully there just enough change in the characters that you can see they have changed but still the characters we love hopefully my hopes are luffy with a captains jacket ,long haired Sanji (kinda like post time-skip viral from TTGL) nami with even biger boobs and a sexier Usopp (swear im staright) i dont se the others chaingin that much
okay the way i see this is that haki is something like a ven diagram. the low levels of training are to learn them first then you fuse them together and then (if you are powerful enough) the third element comes with it. but i think that most can only combine color of the conquerer with one other "colour", but of course the true masters can combine all three :D

Wouldn't that mean Sengoku has king's haki?

Never mind.
Edit:Belay that never mind. Refute this.
Now let's clarify once again why Haki, after being explained and developed, does not classify as powerlevel.
It isn't for the simple fact that it can't be measured. Sure you measure someone's potential for a certain type of proficiency with a certain type of Haki, but as Rayleigh puts it, everyone in the world has the ability to use Haki, if given enough training. It’s concept is primarily tied to the inner will and ambition of the user, not a hidden energy/aura that you tap into.
You will never hear someone say the words "WHAT A HUGE AMOUNT OF HAKI" because it wouldn't make any sense. However compare it to say, "HIS POWERLEVEL IS OFF THE CHARTS", “HIS NEN IS TERRIFYINGLY LARGE”, "SUCH A LARGE AMOUNT OF CHAKRA" or "WHAT A HUGE SPIRITUAL PRESSURE I FEEL". These are powerlevels. A characters strength is judged on the massiveness of whatever powersystem he/she happens to be using.
Not that powerlevels are an inherently good or bad thing, by definition – it’s just a different concept from what we see in One Piece with Haki.

I believe that is his Devil's Fruit ability. You know Buddha's Palm and all that.
@Zik:
Wouldn't that mean Sengoku has king's haki?
I think that was a massive helping of Armor Haki.
Edit: Zkaiser, I'm not familiar with that at all. Wiki link for the ill-informed?
I'm sooooo excited about the Time Skip
I hope Luffy will grow taller and ….....nosebleed

Never said Haki is a "power level." You got to pay attention.
Oda used shounen tropes for a shounen series? O:
LOL, the difference between Haki with other shit in shounen is that the Color of Conquerer can not be trained, and depends on the user's will. You can only increase it by experiencing life, in other word, going through hardship to forge your mind and your spirit.
Never said Haki is a "power level." You got to pay attention.
You're linking it to chi and what not when it obviously isn't the same thing. hi and Ki are a persons life spirit, while Drive is a persons motivations and will power. You are saying that it is "just like" those other concepts. False.
I think that was a massive helping of Armor Haki.

It's a fantasy martial arts technique that has been used used in many a bad Kung Fu movie. It always involves a palm thrust of some sort.
Like the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique?
(Understandable. I thought you were going for more historical substance, not that I'm complaining if Sengoku's moveset comes from Kung Fu movies.)

Sort of. Examples that I can remember off the top of my head come from the endings of two movies: Kung Fu Hustle and The Iron Monkey. It's portrayed as this super secret technique that is super powerful.
You remember the buddah palm at the end of kung fu hustle? That's what sengoku did.

So you completely missed the point where Raileigh said that most people cannot use this power even if they try to for their whole life?!

I'm not sure how you can be so sure but if the presence/will of a fighter can be sensed by others than you can basically say that there are different levels of fighters. Zoro might scare others by his demon aura which has a different color than luffys one but it definitely has an impact on the people around. Great auras have big impact on others.
By what we already saw it's not that absurd to hear some in the new world commenting Shanks presence with "what a scary presence/will". By that they mean that his will is so strong or basically off the chart.
I don't know explain to me how ambition/will/presence can have different levels colors and be so different than powerlevels?
And what would Kings ambition be? The stronger you get the greater your intimidation becomes?
Maybe someone can give me a clean explanation because i'm really confused now.
Also what does becoming stronger means for luffy now? He is physically strong as helll. But he is a total noob in ambition. Which means that by training ambition luffy will become stronger in the ambition area. Doesn't that make it a power?
Didn't Blackbeard make a comment about how 30 millions Berri didn't fit Luffi's Haki at Jaya.

Bounties aren't power levels they're haki levels. /lame joke

It's a talent, not a power, if that makes sense.
Put it this way: You train to ride a bike. You have the ability to ride a bike, anybody does, if they are shown or figure it out through effort. Now, things like your strength and balance might change how well you can ride a bike, but they are not bike riding itself. Not everyone can become a pro BMX biker but everyone can ride a bike.
Using Haki is like this. Being physically stronger means you can hit harder, sure. But actually using haki can be used by a a relative weakling (Coby), just like a little kid can ride a bike.
Now, what luffy can do with Haki could be significant. But his haki itself isn't a "power" just a talent he could get very proficient at.

In DBZ everyone has energy. Is it a talent?
If trying to differentiate it from powerlevels or simply energy is that complicated and twisted than i wonder if it isn't simply just that… A power, sense that people can develop and have different levels of it. As simple as that. Cause One piece is a manga for children.
great chapter trhanks

That's just it though. It's not a power in itself. It is the result of using a power which in this case is not chi, but ambition instead. Drive has 3 forms: Tyrant, Detect and Armor. These forms are not energy they are the result of using it.
am i the only one that found it strange Oda-sensei used English as the key to solving this riddle? tho i guess most things in OP are written in English. still seems strange that they would look at 3D and 2Y and figure it out. i need to see raws. especially to see what the Japanese for these "colors of armament" etc. are. i'm actually very impressed with Mangastream's translation of that, they make it sound pretty badass.
so does anyone know where to get HQ raws anymore?
I know everyone's already said it. But a whole month without One Piece :cwy:? I hope Oda takes some time over the break to learn how to draw Luffy with a soul patch.

So we agree that ambition is the power. The colors are the results of using ambition. So we do have powerlevels in one piece if we talk about ambition. Do you agree with that conclusion?

This post makes me really regret saying that haki is just another way to say power levels. You're absolutely right in this post in that haki is just a technique, no different than having a devil fruit or knowing a martial art etc. in the series. Except King's haki since it grows as the user grows
It's just the way Blackbeard desribed it made it sound like a power level like that bounty comment in Jaya and his comment of his growth in Impel Down.
Thank goodness I'm a lurker that rants a lot so nobody cares about my posts. My two posts before this in this thread made me feel really dumb. It's really stupid because haki=power levels wasn't even a reason for why I was griping about haki when I first read the chapter in the first place.
Chapter was pretty good. I'll only chime in on a couple things though.
I honestly didn't like the idea of Zoro training with Mihawk at first. If Mihawk is the ultimate goal, then I wanted Zoro to become stronger with his own power and match his own power and techniques against Mihawks power and techniques and beat him. Now that he's learning from the man himself Its gonna be a mix of his own power and technique with a few things he learned from Mihawk. Just doesn't seem right in a way.
At the moment it doesn't bother me as much. Putting his friends and goal aside to be stronger so he can help them with there ambition is pretty cool. I see the Mihawk thing now as a friendly match between them in the future with someone else being the ultimate goal. Of course Shiliew fits the bill, but I don't think Shiilew should defeat Mihawk for this to happen.
One thing I don't see though is Mihawk just staying on that island training Zoro for two years. He'll either just leave Zoro there by himself for periods of time or take him to a few islands, nothing in the new world though as that would somehow defeat the purpose of a few things.
Anyway looking forward to what the crew looks like after the timeskip.
! Also looking forward to Luffy and Zoro Jr. Hehe!

What are these levels you speak of? I see no levels.:wassat:
2 questions
1. Where was it said tat they would meet in 3 days… I know there was something but I forgot it
2. From which day on is this 2 years counting
damn 2 years. i just hope oda doesn't suffer quality from his time skip like a lot of mangaka have.
But after reading mangastream scanlation I still get the feeling that you haven't to be born with king haki but you can receive it.
i always think king haki is some sort of charisma.. many people can be a leader but only few leader have charisma.
Did anyone else notice on the last page, Luffy's hat has all the damage it's taken throughout the series. For an example, you can see the stitches from when Buggy pierced it in East Blue. I think this is a really nice gesture to mark the end of the "original series". The hat that's been there through everything and with the marks that tell the history of all the journey. :D
Everything is always easier with good genes…
Anyway, good chapter. Finally all the basics and types of Haki revealed and also the tattoo thingy.
Zoro asking Mihawk to train him is quite ridicules already, but Mihawk agreeing on training him is preposterous! Can't help but hating that! Oda should have thought of a better teacher, like Zoro's master's master or something... meh.
Well, maybe Shiliu (or however his name is spelled correctly now) or someone else will replace Mihawk as Greatest Swordsman at a later date... we'll see.
I don't mind the break at all, i hope we'll get some fancy new designs for the SHs!
So long. See you guys next month!

Method 1: Mangareader has Mangastreams scans. :ninja:
Method 2: Enter your browsers preferences and disable Java script. Right-click will magically work again.

After the event at the auction house they needed to split up while Rayleigh coated their ship

The series barely uses dates as is, I doubt it'll come up

Thanks a lot! I'll try that.
There's also the drag and drop method.
I like Mihawk.
I hope Shillew will kill him.
Well i think as well that MIhawk will fall and Shilew will take his place

I don't see how Haki get a talent at all.
Haki is just your spirit , your will , chi ( life energy ) which everyone has just carry to a extreme in the OP world.
In real life you can say we train our haki ( will power , spirit ) by doing a sport , martial arts, any number of things.
Just that in OP they carry it one step further and can make it physical manifest .
You can also say haki can be measure .
I really want to know what king haki is doing more than simply knocking foddeer out… What if you tend to it and will master it... I doubt that top tiers will faint away... They has to be more
Oda just gave us a clear and completed basic explanation about Haki that we have been wondering about for years, and yet we are still coming up with new silly ways to describe the power…..
