So i started the Arlong Park Podcast, and the first episode should be finished soon, but one of the things i thought would be pretty neat for future episodes was to do a radio play. For those of you unfamiliar to what a radio play is, it is pretty much what it sounds like: a play meant for the radio. In other words, it's all dialogue, sound effects and music. At first i was thinking of doing a redub of an episode, but that might take too long, although it would still be fun to do. I'm open to suggestions, scripts, and anyone willing to do voice acting.

Also, if anyone has suggestions for anything else relating to the PodCast, i'm pretty much open to anything at the moment.

there was a suggestion made some time ago to do a streaming radio station for arlong park, i suggested to do instead a Podcast since a number of AP forum members are from other countries which would make it hard to listen to broadcasted speacials, and because streaming radio requires a computer to be left on 24 hours a day for a continuous feed. With the podcast everything is pre-recorded and acts more like a regular mp3 which you can listen to at your leasure, including fastforwarding through parts you don't want to listen to, going back to hear something you missed, and so on and so forth. I suggested doing a podcast, and then I took the initiative and recorded one. Now i'm in the process of fixing it up and doing the html half of it.

Auditions are going to go something like this:

Email me a sound byte in eithe .wav, mp3, mp4, or AIFF format. Include in either the email and the sound byte your preferred handle, the character you're trying for, and a short set of lines said from the character.
As far as an actual script, i'll probably use the K-F translation with a little improvisation on my part, and on the part of the actors.

i know ginny has a lot of ZoNa fanfics. i would love to see those turned into a radio play.

There's quite a bit of OP fans there and some really great voice actors. Just look at the tutorials on how to hold auditions for characters. =D That should be really fun, though! Definitely go through with it.

I can't act to save my ass, but I'm pretty confident if it comes to writing stories or dialogues. Do you still need help on the script part?

I volunteer to do any Kuro voice acting if I can get a mic…

i am an enspiring va id do it for fun but i cant do any good voices for anybody except mr.3 and the announcer. this would be more awesome if this were a fandub

Look on the forum. Its in this section called The Cursed Strawhat. It has the strawhats, Buggy crew, Ace, Smoker and Tashigi, Shanks, Mihawk, cameos from many people, and a few non OP people,one of which I could do the voice for. I have a very low voice… Smoker/Crocodile low.
Personaly I would love to do sgamer82s fanfic about Nico Robins daughter. It was called Nest Egg.

but don't the episodes have the same content as individual chapters? I meant using the episodes as the base for the script.

If we're to use fanfics as templates for the scripts, then we must ask for the authors' permission first. For a start, I'd suggest the fanfics recommended at Fanfiction Thread. X-Parrot's stories are excellent if you're looking for gen stuffs. sgamer82's Nest Egg will be very interesting if it's played out. We need a really cool villain voice for that one.

@jadiesama: I'm quite versatile when it comes to genre. Comedy/Parody's fine. If we're to use the anime eps. as the base for the script, so that'll last around 20 minutes? The anime eps. don't necessarily follow the manga, yeah?

I liked some of the voices on there, but gawwwd, you guys need to use GoldWave or something to record your lines so there's not so much muffly background noise. <3 Using "Sound Reduce" on GoldWave is the best way to do that. I loved the Hatchi voice, though. It was perfect. Arlong's just grated on my nerves, though oddly enough I liked him more than the 4Kids version.

Here's a dub that I did a looong time ago before OP was even licensed (I play Mohji – horribly, I might add, but I love him so I had to play him hehe). I was working on another one of the Zoro vs. Baroque Works episode (the full episode) and a Baroque Works clip (with the frontier agents talking about Vivi etc -- I must say I absolutely LOVE my Bon Clay voice), but they never got completed. ^_^ Anyway:

hmmm…a 20 minute radio play would work perfect. I was going to use the eps since most people have the Kaizoku Fansubs, which would make it alot easier to get a character's emotion right. Of course since this is going to be a parody, that might not be neccesary...hmm...

By the way, the muffly background noise was because the file was compressed from about 30 mbs to 1 mb; I use GoldWave. If you're interested in the full versions, I'll set up some files.

and for the person who said the Zoro sucked, here's my retort -

We started dubbing way before it was licensed, we always figured it would have been licensed by FUNimation, so my friend went all Chris Sabat Vegeta with the Zoro and it was so funny I couldn't turn it down, I also liked it. I'm a harsh critic for voices… If it's going to be funny, well it better be funny, and if it's going to be good... It better be good.

Our dubs were made for the sole purpose of making others laugh, I have done some real dubs though.

People tend to really enjoy Justin's Usopp, I'll try and get a clip up.

and thanks for the compliments on my Luffy and Hatchi guys :D I've done some voices for fun, but for the most part I try to make them good.

I'll audition for one of the male Straw Hats. I'd probably do best at Sanji, Zoro, or Usopp. My real forte, though, is villains. Buggy, Kuro, Crocodile, and Wapol are my best villain voices.

I have experience. I read One Piece out loud to my sister all the time, and do the voices of all the characters as I picture them. So, I have practice.

Anyway, keep a spot open for me, a;right? I'll roecord those voices as soon as I can.
