Uh, it depends on context dude. Japanese の is a multipurpose use.
You see it used as "'s" more simply because you see it used often after a pronoun in the context of belonging.
Obviously "Pirates' King" or "Strawhat's Luffy" doesn't work due to the context.

If anything, you should know that Japanese is not a precise language, and is very context driven.

Exceptions have to be made when it doesn't work out in English, but in cases like "Pirates of the Sun" where it works fine, might as well use it.

For the past few months I've been under the impression that their nomenclature as 海賊団　is entirely fan-derived. Is that me making shit up or did I read it in an SBS.

Oh, nevermind. Duh, of course. That's way more common.

Yeah, although oddly enough he uses that for the Strawhats, despite most other pirate gang simply being called by their pirate name. I guess it's a conscious (or not) decision to reiterate the friendship and nakama aspect of Strawhats.

In the manga I think Strawhat gang's the only official term, although it's odd considering I would expect the WG to consider them a full-fledged pirate menace by now.

Oda has said he's about 'halfway through the story' a number of times, but recently he's been quite vocal on the matter addressing it in the SBS from 54 (correct translation 'middle part') and in some interviews from around the release of Strong World.

Most recently confirming it was his current editor (who knows the ending) in the Nikkei Entertainment article, and has said he believes Oda is halfway through.

Not to mention, they're passing to the second half of the Grand Line.

It's important to keep in mind that Oda has always said 'halway through the story' because he's essentially saying that his narrative is halfway over but the actual realtime and volume length is undetermined.

Plus Oda's been saying Fishman Island is about the halfway mark for like ten years.

Halfway on the journey or halfway in the story aren't necessarily the same, but there is obviously an overlap. Particularly when reaching Raftel probably won't be the final adventure, but the next to last before Luffy launches into a worldwide war sort of thing.

The remaining length depends on if we get more arcs the length of Little Garden, Drum, Thriller Bark, Shabondy, Amazon Lilly, Impel Down (All varying lengths but less than a year) or if we get a lot more uber lengthy arcs like Skypiea or Water 7 which take 2 or 3 years by themselves.

Oda can cover 3 islands in a year… or 3 islands in 7 years. And he's done both extremes now, which is why its hard to gague the actual remaining length. ABout halfway seems completely fair though, especially with the timeskip, symbolism of the last page, and month off, which are unprecedented.

What he's talking about is fairly obvious. If the Rio Poneglyph is really on Raftel, and Nico Robin can translate it to learn about the absolute truth of the terrors of the current government that took over the world 800 years ago, then Luffy's final adventure has to be overthrowing the world itself, possibly assimilating some marines (and DEFINITELY assimilating all of the friendly pirates, and possibly some non-friendly ones that just begin respecting Luffy more) along the way.

Basically, Luffy/Dragon will lead a final charge against the WG together, and somehow or other, the world will be a more peaceful place.

If you want to be uber technical, it doesn't even say "of the Straw Hat" just "of the Straw". Though that makes me think more of something like Hawkins' voodoo doll form… Or a farmer pirate. I want to see a farmer pirate now.

Yes, very wise. I stupidly tried to just visit the page provided if you did not wish to d/l, and got pop-ups that refused to die. Had to restart the computer to finally kill it. Have to double check that I didn't turn off my pop-up disabler for some reason.

I am no translator, but the text definitely is talking about the 4 week break of OP this month. It's a weekly "countdown" until the next chapter comes out. Also on the first page is a list of contents: Oda-sensei's notes (on the first chapter of OP), some info regarding the New World (they call it the "Grand Word", like some sort of newspaper), and the "Grand Memorial" thing (it's a quiz testing your knowledge of early OP). There's some sort of secret prize for the winner.

You know, just stuff we already know.

I'm at work, and I'm sure Aohige or somebody will clarify later, but I have it as basically saying that the Supernovas weren't originally intended to show up (at least at that time). Assistants(? I dunno who that interview is with) claim that it was planned for the Strawhats to part at Shabondy, thought that that alone might be lacking in effect, so Oda was like "would it be cool if a bunch of characters showed up?" and then the Supernovas were designed in three hours or so. (I think).

! Kawashima: During the W7 arc, after they parted with Merry, I was assigned to One Piece from the chapter where Garp shows up.
That chapter happened to be ranked number 1 in the weekly poll with a massive margin over other manga, and that's when I realized how awesome this series was.
Oonishi: I started from the chapter where Kid, Law, and other Supernova Rookies showed up. But they weren't originally planned.
Watanabe: What!? Really!?
Oonishi: It was already decided that the crew will be separated at SA, but we figured that may not be enough to spice things up.
That's when Mr Oda said "Would it be more interesting if bunch of new characters showed up?"
Then 3 hours after that, he not only finished the designs of all of them, but had the fixed name ("name" is manga term for rough draft of the chapter) with all of them already drawn in.
! I don't think they are assistants, sounds more like editors.
It'll be cleared up when Q-san posts more I guess.
