I need to know some shit, like, where the fuck do these little things even come from? There's one in my backyard right now and I'm not sure what to do. I read they're not dangerous, but I also have a pigeon nesting in one of the pillars supporting my balcony. I fear for its safety, and I'm not even sure if it IS alittle brown bat.

What type of bats go out in daylight, and what would they be doing in my backyard? I assume they can't have any more of the fuckers along with them seeing as how they prefer caves.. but still, any answers for this would be appreciated.

There was a bat that hung out in my uncle's backyard and I think I remember it appearing briefly in the daylight though it usually came out when it was getting dark. It was harmless other than eating insects so I don't think the bat will harm the pigeon; these types of bats (if its the same) usually prey on bugs. This particular bat at my uncle's was eating bugs that fell in his pool so it was pretty awesome.

Oh, cool. Alright then. Guess I'll just wait for it to leave. Someone told me he might have fled away from a crowd of bats and got lost.

No if its the type that some out at dusk, consider yourself extremely lucky (I am so jealous!) They eat their weight in 'skeeters (slang for mosquitoes) (not literally their weight, but still an amazing amount). Awesome to watch, beautiful little graceful works of nature. They sell little bat houses that people use to try and attract them because they are so beneficial, so…

However, if you are seeing it frequently during daylight hours, not dawn or dusk, but full daylight, and especially if you see it acting at all agressive to anything but bugs, call your local entity for dealing with animals ASAP, because it may have rabies. K?

Thanks guys but turns out it was a tiny little harmless bat. I just found him, dead 😞

Don't know what he died from, but there was a lot of wind today and a lot of dirt, IDK what that has to do with it though.

I did, all I read was that they can't play dead. Obviously.

So maybe he has something wrong with his sonar/radar and stunned himself bumping in to something? It makes me more worried about rabies, frankly, since it can start to affect the motor skills of animals it affects. Can you call someone who might know about these things?

                        Well it already disappeared so..

I've asked, some just said it was harmless one just said a cat must've eaten him.. which sounds plausible but I fear for the cat..

                          K. But was it daylight where you live when you found him "dead?" If he has rabies, or had it, then there may be others with it as well. Jus' sayin'. Wouldn't hurt to see if there a county agency that could be informative. I bet you could start by calling the SPCA.

But it's up to you–don't let me pressure you. I'm just trying to be helpful.

Yes, it was about 6 or 5 pm. I heard there were a lot near a Wal-mart in a city, but said city's like 25 minutes away from where I live.
