So i was reading through the Water 7 arc and i stumble on the first page of ch 344, the sidestory of one of the priests, and lo and behold i see pell there! :blink:
Didnt he die? i thought maybe it happened before the alabasta arc but that cant be since priest gedatsu fell down during the skypeia arc (therefore after the alabasta arc) Did pell magically escape? or did he survive the blast? my thoughts are he prolly survives cuz if u look on the page i mentioned above he has some blast marks on his body…just wondering what ur guys thoughts are

(if this was discussed before im sorry...but im just too lazy to check :P )

I think he should have died from the explosion. It kind of cheapened his sacrafice.

the explosion was big enough for an entire city to blow up and only a shoulder is hurt? it doesnt make sense logically…but im willing to let it slide cuz pell is an awesome character and this is a manga after all :P

yeh if u recall the doctor at the end of the arc saying "hey u forgot ur hat" meaning pells hat… i dont really understand either how he would of survived a bomb blast like that but main thing is hes alive! i like pell too, hes cool :D

at first i thought Pell died, woulda made it more moving, but then again it was a shock seeing him alive again, hopefully he will play a role in something else in the future

remember Usopp made a big blast of explosion in the fight with luffy?but luffy didn't die and HIS HAT WAS NOT BURNT INTO A DUST ..that's also a wierd stuff,haha

Oda sure loves his characters (and so do I). But it just felt more… emotional if Pell really did die. On one hand your glad to see him back but on the other, you feel like you've been saddened for not so deep reason (doesn't make sense but oh well XD).

Personally I still don't consider Peruh's survival that bad. Ok it disappointed me a lot because his death would have meant something and there was no further use for him being alive still.

However as I mentioned it quite often. We never saw how close he was to the bomb the second it exploded. We just saw that the Shockwave reached him. The drawing of his could be interpreted as if he vaporized, but it doesn't have necessarily have to be this way.

The point is that this was an awesome bomb. And even if you would have been some distance away from it, you would still be able to take serious damage from it. That is how I interpret that scene. If it would have exploded while Peruh was still holding it, then I would be pretty pissed too. But we haven't seen where he was so this could at least be an explenation for his survival.

After all it is not that far off as when everybody that was hit by Enel at Skypiea was perfectly fine. I expected the Strawhats, Gan Fall and Viper to survive it. But not every random weakling. It completely ruined the "power of god" moment. :(
