Or just naked. Let those poor underpaid 3D modelers have some fun.
THE GODDAMN BATMAN: Arkham City
-
-
Oh, I'm sure we don't have to worry about that…
-
Random post but several websites are claiming the game has been delayed, this is false.
-
With all the major video game releases of the year coming out between september and november somebody's going to get fucked over with an early 2012 release date.
-
Remember how I thought Harley sounded "off" in the trailer and questioned rather it was Arleen or not? Turns out my ears weren't playing tricks one me. It was just revealed that Arleen will not voice Harley in Arkham City, but instead she's being voiced by Tara Strong. Tara's no stranger to Batman, but I wonder why Arleen bailed? Pregnency? Sick of portraying the character? (I doubt this one, especially since Hamil stuck around despite his own refluctance)
-
Noooooo, no Arleen!? That's just wrong!!!
I kinda doubt it would be pregnancy. Pregnancy doesn't hinder you from voice acting, or it shouldn't unless you're at the very end.
-
Penguin confirmed. Also, it seems the one-armed thug will be a repeated enemy. Perhaps this games version of a Titan henchman?
-
One of the trailers featured a Joker themed one armed thug so I'm guessing its a new enemy type.
-
The article Buuhan linked mentions that they're actual characters, a set of once conjoined twins. One works for Joker, the other for Penguin.
-
That's what I get for not reading what I link.

Maybe she's getting too old? I dunno, I wouldn't have noticed the difference till I played the game anyway.
Aren't they getting the same voice actor from the animated series for two face?
-
Hamill said the previous game was going to be his retirement of the Joker role… and was convinced to do this one because the story was so good.
Much as we love Kevin Conroy and all the rest, and the fact that we grew up on them, they have been doing the roles for nearly 20 years. (Geez, did TAS really start in 1992?) They even managed to keep a continuity going over multiple animated series for most of that. Their voices have changed and they have been doing it a long long time, and are very identified with the characters and the specific incarnation we know. Its always gonna be iconic, and they're always going to be my versions of the characters, and what I hear when I read them in a comic. But, they gotta retire some time?
Harley is now a part of the bigger and broader DC universe, she'll be around for decades and many different interpretations to come. There will be many other Batmans, and many other Jokers, and now there will be other Harleys too. New shows, new interpretations for new generations. But we'll always have our definitive one.
Weird that Arleen Sorkin didn't come back for one last outing along with Hamill though. Maybe she moved and wasn't readily available for the recording studio?
-
As much as I love good ol Harley's classic voice…
....I fucking adore Tara Strong with every bone in my body.:wub::wub:
EDIT: No creepy. Not like that.
-
that last one is reserved for Ninjas?
-
I'm loving the bottlecap monocle, kinda makes him seem like a scrounger.
Edit: Well, not a bottlecap, but the bottom of a glass bottle. Same, same.

I actually wanted to type the laugh instead of "Pimp", but I couldn't comprehend how to render that laugh into text.

Catwoman is playable in the game, she'll have her own combat system, navigation, objectives, and character progression. Quite a step up of simply having an additional character (Joker) playable in combat challenges.
http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6316489/batman-arkham-city-updated-hands-on-preview
Tho, surprisingly, people aren't happy about this. They want to play just as Batman and are gonna be pissed if they're forced to play as Catwoman at points in the story. I don't mind, I've gotten use to the playable character changing in games recently.

I hope they don't force it imo, I hate catwomen. If they do I won't exactly be pissed like everyone else is though.
-
You never now, you might end up loving Rocksteady's version of Catwoman.
I think this is an excellent idea on their part. It helps keep the game fresh and allows for a more developed story.
Especially if Batman gets captured by Strange.
Catwoman can be the one to save his skin, just like he saved her.
It'll be interesting to see how this works into the overall story. Are we going to have some romance coming our way?
-
Play as Catwoman? Sounds fun to me. Girl Power!

Good news for some is bad news for others I guess.

Yeah, and she finally gets a chance to redeem herself after the Halle Barry Catwoman game. I never played or saw anything of it, but heard it was absolutely awful… which is the only thing I could possibly imagine it being.
-
Nothing involving the Halle Barry Catwoman was good. It was Catwoman's "Batman and Robin" time period.
Like B&R I think it's best to just laugh it off and concentrate on the good stuff. Which this game is looking like it will be. I already love her design.

Did… did you actually watch that thing?
I saw the costume and knew to stay away.
-
Yeah. Batman & Robin was at least entertaining. Catwoman was just awful.
-
Just in case some people didn't click on Buuhan's link, here's the Catwoman trailer.
-
She's just batman without the cape, down to the projectile, but she has spidermans abilities.
-

She also has boobs. Sooo yeah… there's that.
-
I'd say shes more like a quick and agile version of Batman, she seems to rely on avoiding and striking back rather then overpowering them like Batman sometimes does.
-
Dude, what is the song in that trailer?
@RobbyBevard:

I've seen bits and pieces. Enough to know it lives up to it's Razzie hype. (although I always give Halle Barry kudos for receiving her Razzie in person.)
-
Nice to see some Catwoman gameplay. Looks to be more fun than Batman's moves. Reminds me of Bayonetta.
And why are people anrgy about her playable just now? Wasn't she announced to be playable months ago? (when she very first appeared on that cover.)
And I'm pretty sure I saw half of the Catwoman movie. One of those ones I saw when there was nothing else on. It was pretty damn terrible.
-
No. Catwoman was just announced playable, everything else was hope and speculation.
-
Oh. I just assumed she was in from the start. (And considering the pictures that were shown it seemed blatently obvoius) Oh well glad she is playable then. Otherwise I'd have been disappointed.

I'm pretty sure the initial announcement said she was playable.
EDIT: Nevermind, this was the direct quote:
- Catwoman, meanwhile, will play Batman's love interest, and will team up with him throughout the game
-
The loss of Catwoman is hardly a deal breaker. So long as they keep the core experience of Arkham Asylum's gameplay, or better yet build upon it, I really doubt people are going to be crying about the lack of multiplayer when this game hits the shelves.
Multiplayer doesn't make a game people.
Kane and Lynch
Army of Two
Resident Evil 5 the list goes on.The current spout of online gaming has given multiplayer more importance than it actually has. So long as the game is "good" that's really all that matters. Let's keep it real. How many of you plan to skip on Arkham City just because you can't play as Catwoman?
Yeah, that's what I thought.
-
Uh…you can play as Catwoman. You have to play as her in the story. For 10% of the game you are Catwoman...
-
Just in case some people didn't click on Buuhan's link, here's the Catwoman trailer.
Lets compare
She's just batman without the cape, down to the projectile, but she has spidermans abilities.
Don't forget without the murdered parents, intelligence, and deductive ablilities and serious demeanor.
-
I'm pretty sure the initial announcement said she was playable.
EDIT: Nevermind, this was the direct quote:
Yeah. That seemed to make it fairly obvious to me she was playable.
And yeah. Multiplayer does't make a game. In fact I can name a lot of games that suffer because of it.
-

Uh… and even if she wasn't you'd still buy the game smartass so yeah, "Thank you come again."
And yeah. Multiplayer does't make a game. In fact I can name a lot of games that suffer because of it.
Thanks. That was the point I tried to make to Akumu!

Here's the deal.

Your info here is completely wrong. There is no loss of Catwoman. No one was complaining about loss of Catwoman, so who you are responding to is beyond me.
You are right, though, in saying that people won't be crying about lack of multiplayer, as people aren't crying about it now.
Multiplayer doesn't make a game people.
No one here said that it did.

I completely agree with you here, and would be a moron not to. But you lose me here:
How many of you plan to skip on Arkham City just because you can't play as Catwoman?
As, once again, your info is wrong, and no one here was complaining one way or another.
Now..
Uh… and even if she wasn't you'd still buy the game smartass so yeah, "Thank you come again."
See now, I wasn't being a smartass. You seemed to have heard the wrong info, or interpreted the info wrong, so I was just pointing something out.
Thanks. That was the point I tried to make to Akumu!
You haven't tried to make any point to me.
You haven't even addressed me till this post.

Yeah, that's what I thought.
I'm pretty sure you can find a few people still miffed about the fact that you can't play as Robin or Nightwing.
-
She also has boobs. Sooo yeah… there's that.
Yea, cept they tried way too hard to make her overly sexual, at least in the trailer. Like too hard. Maybe they just know their audience, and I'm not it but it was almost annoying.
-
Today is a glorious one.
I gave up months ago at getting the Platinum Trophy for Arkham Asylum, because, no matter how hard I tried, I could not beat Shock and Awe (Extreme)
Today, for some reason, I booted the game up. and on my 2nd try I beat it.
I have finally gotten the Plat.
My giddyness knows no bounds.

Hasn't Catwoman always been overtly sexual? I thought that was kinda her thing.

Congrats! I'll never manage it, I can't even get some of the higher freeflow combo trophies in the game.
-

Yeah, I thought so too.
Then again, the whole 'kiss the bad guy then throw him' stunt seemed a bit too over the top. Regardless, ZOMG YOU CAN PLAY AS CATWOMAN!
-
Yeah, I agree. That move rubbed me the wrong way. But when you think about it, it's an effective move.
-
That's the weird thing about gaming, you try to beat something for hours to no avail, then the next day you play it and beat it in a couple of turns, man its frustrating…
-
Yeah, I agree. That move rubbed me the wrong way. But when you think about it, it's an effective move.
It is till after you realized that if you do the move 20 times, and it gets kind of gross.
