Hey guys, let's discuss why BB run away from Akainu. and didn't kick his magma ass
Because it's been proven that fighting Akainu will result in the attacker losing chunks of his torso due to the Magma Fist of Justice.
-
Hey guys, let's discuss why BB run away from Akainu. and didn't kick his magma ass
Because he isn't ready to take on the other Emperors and Admirals yet without probably losing.
-
Still strange. He was cocky enough to take on Sengoku and Garp on the same time but is afraid of Akainu alone
-
But it has been proven that kicking BB will result in the attacker losing his life due to punches from BB crew
Sorry for my poor English
-
But it has been proven that kicking BB will result in the attacker losing his life due to punches from BB crew
Ask Sengoku if this is true
-
Simple, Magma hurts more then Haki Waves.
Which proves my point that he needs Doc Q to remove his nerve endings one of these days to get ris of his 2x pain problem.
-
That's my point exactly. It doesn't matter if they both happened 'right after' Luffy's stint. The fact is we don't know exactly what order the events transpired in nor ANY clue of the time so saying, "They both happened right after", is no reason to dismiss the idea that what we saw was slightly out of synch.
Oda doesn't bounce around in time very often without telling us, so if it is anything at all it would be a flash-forward like I said a few pages back. It wouldn't be the first time Oda used it.
-
I asked him, and he said that if it will be some additional minutes BB will kick his ass

private intervies are non canon to the storyline
-
Still strange. He was cocky enough to take on Sengoku and Garp on the same time but is afraid of Akainu alone
Probably because, in his mind, those guys are super old and somewhat past their prime.
As opposed to Akainu, who magma fisted through Whitebeard Pirates in order to get to Luffy.
-
Still strange. He was cocky enough to take on Sengoku and Garp on the same time but is afraid of Akainu alone
He was then high on power, the aldmirals were distracted, attacking Garp or Sengoku doesn't imply losing limbs automaticly, he tought that they were tired, he tought that they were old enough, pick one.
-
Oda doesn't bounce around in time very often without telling us, so if it is anything at all it would be a flash-forward like I said a few pages back. It wouldn't be the first time Oda used it.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the idea of Buggy becoming a Shichibukai, Emperor and especially not the "world acclaimed" pirate king.
So I'm taking the stance that the letter means something completely different  -

Well, not exactly the hardest thing to do, given a overall lackluster performance in said war.
-

Yes of course =) I'm just kidding.
But I'm doubting, that BlackBeard much weaker than Shanks, who at least equal to Akainu -
"I'm not looking to get involved in that kind of stuff just yet!" Seems to me he just doesn't want to fight with one of the deadliest and strongest forces in the world at that point in time.
-
"I'm not looking to get involved in that kind of stuff just yet!" Seems to me he just doesn't want to fight with one of the deadliest and strongest forces in the world at that point in time.
Yeah it is a good point. It was the same with Luffy in ID, when he didn't fight, because there is no profit.
-
By how many hours specifically was that?
Yeah hey thanks for bringing up the Vivre Card thing because I have a question.
I previously thought the card pointed towards the individual from whom the card was made.
And that made perfect sense.
But then Rayleigh says he passed his off to Shackey? What the hell? Not only does that make the thing with Ace odd (although he could have easily always carried it hidden in one of his beads) that also creates a huge problem of to whom the card points to.
Think about it. If you're tearing off bits of the paper, where the hell do they know where to point to?
If someone could explain this to my simple mind I'd be grateful.
I always assumed that he gave Shakkey a piece of his vivre card so that she could find him as well if needed.
-
Since we're all waiting for the thing that we're waiting for…
Which Supernova would you like the Strawhats to encounter first in the NW and why?
-
I always assumed that he gave Shakkey a piece of his vivre card so that she could find him as well if needed.
"I left my own Vivre Card with Shakkie. I could hardly move about freely otherwise, you see…..."
-

The fact is we don't know exactly what order the events transpired in nor ANY clue of the time so saying, "They both happened right after", is no reason to dismiss the idea that what we saw was slightly out of synch.
Hmm. Yes I suppose that's true. Thinking aloud here for a bit–
...there is the fact that Buggy was "televised" via snail being materially involved with Luffy's successful escape from the war, which may make the Gorousei less interested in hooking up with him---although I suppose given their penchant for seeing situatrions for what they can get out if them, perhaps that would make him more appealing to them if they feel, with him as a Shichibukai, they can use that connection to their advantage against, and there is the fact that he also left with Shanks (and presumedly that was seen also) and Shanks did end the war, and that, too, could be twisted to their advantage...
I see a big problem… they know he was on Gol D. Rogers crew
See above–if they are thinking of reasons Buggy is strong, this would just play into it.
So?
I win.
Oh that's right. I forgot the part where they said it takes a month to deliberate over the Shichibukai members. My bad.
I tend to agree that Oda usually lets us know "when" we are with boxes, but I suppose he could be emphasizing the general feeling of chaos and amazing flow of time and activities after the war with some random time jumping… In that case, I have to ask--if Oda was jumping around, are you thinking it's possible he could have been jumping a little backwards at times as well, as in the Gorousei were talking before the "second coming" of Luffy to Marineford?
@Don:
yeah seems to obvious right now, but we know that he will keep Buggy in the story and i think the whole "buggy has done nothing but gets all the honour and stuff"-joke wasn`t for nothing so to finally top that joke he ha to gain a high position which would also benefit why we will see him again in the story.
I can see this happening, because it is a good gag and all… But but but... it's just that Oda likes to mess with us by making something seem likely by only revealing part of whatever happened, then the ol' switcheroo happens, and a groundhog comes out of the hat when everyone was looking for a rabbit...
@freedom:Personally, I'm not a fan of the idea of Buggy becoming a Shichibukai, Emperor and especially not the "world acclaimed" pirate king.
So I'm taking the stance that the letter means something completely different :happy:See? Even Freedom agrees. that means I win.
I am afraid Law will be one of the main villains, I am afraid he didn't just saved Luffy during the surgery and I am reminded of the words of Apoo when he says that guy is cruel
LOL. Law is a very cerebral fighter/strategist, and as such, I think he has decided that Luffy may succeed in getting the PK throne, and plans on staying close (keep your friends close, your enemies closer…) so he can steal it at the right moment, so I imagine a confrontation somewhere near the end, when we'd least expect it, after many scenes of seemingly friendly or at the least nuetral interaction with Law and his crew between now and then.
-
there is probably a master card where all the vivre cards are pointing too
-
"I left my own Vivre Card with Shakkie. I could hardly move about freely otherwise, you see…..."
Yes, but what exactly does that mean? I feel like there's something there we don't know, but I could be thinking that because otherwise it gets so complicated.
-
That's what happens when I don't read proper translations. I was basing it off the mangastream one and I just brushed it off as a simple "Hey here is my card, you can find me anytime". However that just seemed counter-intuitive to me since Ray had always gotten lost from Shakkie in the past so that wouldn't really be an issue to him.
-
"I left my own Vivre Card with Shakkie. I could hardly move about freely otherwise, you see…..."
that can be taken different ways though
its like think of a cellphone and a parent has it tapped or whatever so she can watch online where her daughter goes. the kid is free to go wherever she wants and the mom can always know where she is. she does not need to call or check in or tell her mom where she is. the mom just needs to look online quick.
just like shakky could just quickly look at the card and know wehre rayleigh is. without the card she would be clueless and just have a guess on him being at AL since that was his first place to look.
-

Yes, and given that they may be a couple, or at least partners, it could work to also let Shakky know he if he was in trouble or in need of assistance.
-
"I left my own Vivre Card with Shakkie. I could hardly move about freely otherwise, you see…..."
You may have hit the nail right on the head with this quote.
I haven't re-read those chapters as yet, and an accurate translation may make all the difference, but emphasizing the words my own could indicate that there is indeed a special original vivrecard. -
@I:

! Nami: What is a "vivrecard"?
Laura: What, you don't know? Well, it's no ordinary piece of paper! You can get it wet or burn it, and it's still fine! Take a nail clipping to a store, and they'll mix it up into this special type of paper. That's a vivrecard, also known as a "life paper." Then, you tear off pieces for your friends and family when you go separate ways. […] The pieces of the card are drawn to each other across the entire world. So I always know which direction she is from me!! I just don't know the distance. Most people, myself included, misunderstood how Vivricards worked initially, thinking they were attracted to the owner. The correct translation had always been there, however, and was confirmed to be correct with Rayliegh's comment in 592. This has all been discussed before, but what Ray says makes perfect sense. "I couldn't move around freely otherwise" would be referring to people having to constantly change their route because he is moving around. Furthermore, he's camped (or was camped) in the middle of the Calm Belt, which they would have no way of reaching safely. It makes perfect sense for him to leave it behind with Shakky until he returns.
-
as for the buggy for warlord and the "when did each event happen debate"
The two timelines have to consider this.
IF Buggy offered scene was taken place BEFORE that meeting shown
1. Buggy refused
or
2. There was four warlord positions that needed to be filled, since buggy would have already filled oneThe elder stars being before the buggy scene seems unlikely as well. just reread their discussion. They say they are going to wait and watch for a bit. So then asking buggy right away seems contrary to that.

This, for me, would be the Oda thing to do, he would give a hint, but we would got it only after the reveal…
So we have Mihawk, Doflamingo, Kuma and Hancock....between these four, I can only see Kuma leaving....
It can be a possibility, with the current events in Sabaody and that old Oda interview where he said a former enemy would travel together with the SH in Fishman Island....Of course, this event would bring more questions than answers, but it is a possible...
-

Not necessarily. They say that they want to see how the New World responds to these events, followed by, "we must select only those individuals with great influence." The idea is that they shouldn't rush to fill all the positions, and should instead wait for the right candidates. Buggy has great influence, no doubt about that, so he should certainly qualify as a candidate.

while yes i can see it being a common trick authors would do, where he tells us that we need to fill 3 positions (knowledge we knew) yet one was already filled and we are in the dark about another losing a position.
i disagree though with your guess. KUMA? how did you come to him, don't you recall he is no longer kuma, but a pacifista.
i have no idea what WG said to buggy. Based on the elder stars discussion and how they need to still fill 3 spots, i don't believe it was a warlord spot, unless he turned it town. Cause if he accepted it, then that means 4 warlords lost their position in the war, cause its clear to me that the elder stars conversation was AFTER the letter to buggy.

i see that totally different. With their saying how blackbeard already took out a supernova it seems to confirm it to me.
why would they throw a position to say Kidd, or Buggy, or Law or whoever you want to say if all of a sudden they get taken out like bonney was.
They want to see first who can hold their own and won't just get walked over in these changing EVENTS. I mean imagine if they asked bonney before she went to new world. The warlords woudl start loosing their reputation even more than they are right now.
-
cause its clear to me that the elder stars conversation was AFTER the letter to buggy.
I agree but I think it was before they got a reply. But we don't know, nothing was confirmed.
As for the influence thing, they think he along with Luffy planned the breakout of ID and know he was on Roger's ship along with Shanks. They are overestimating him because of this. That is why it seems like a safe bet to them.
-

There is something more about this whole Kuma situation, Dragon gives us a hint when he is talking with Ivankov. And I really can't see Kuma doing anything bad with Sunny in Sabaody right now.
I really don't know how it would work, because I do believe in Kuma's last words to Luffy, but then, we have Dragon saying the time will come when he will call for all the revolutionaries….Dunno, just a theory, not exactly what I believe.....but I think it makes more sense than Hancock leaving at this moment....
-

! [Chapter 549]
Prisoners: Wh… Wh - Wh - Whaaaaaaaat?!! Seriously?!! They're rating Captain Buggy even more important than the Shichibukai?! Who on Earth is this guy?!!!
Marines: Pass me the documents. Buggy the Clown... we once considered you a mere nameless pirate of no great worth... But we have since uncovered information suggesting that you are in fact a former member... of the crew of the Pirate King, Gold Roger!!! We have furthermore uncovered information suggesting... that you are a close friend of Yonkou Red-Haired Shanks!!! To think that a man such as yourself had succeeded in concealing himself, causing no major incidents... lurking right under our noses for so long... only now to finally show himself once more. We failed to uncover any definitive links between you and Fire-Fist Ace... but doubtless your objective is the same as that of Straw Hat Luffy; Ace's freedom.
! [Chapter 562]
! Convicts: The man who was concealing his true identity until recently… but who actually once sailed upon the ship of Pirate Kind Gold Roger himself as a member of that legendary crew?!!! Could it be... that pirate of pirates, Captain Buggy the Clown?!!
Buggy: I thought the fact that I'm a legendary pirate... was supposed to be a secret, though?
Sengoku: I am telling you to cut all visuals right now!! We cannot proceed to the next stage of the operation until you do!!!
Marines: Well, the thing is... one of the Visual Den-Den Mushi has been stolen by the escaped convicts from Impel Down!!
Sengoku: WHAT?!!
Convicts: Going for Take 2! Ahhhh~!! That figure over there...! Could it be that member of Roger's legendary crew...?!! That close comrade of Yonkou Red-Haired Shanks?!! Could it really be... that pirate of pirates, Captain Buggy the Clown?!!
Convicts: Why, didn't you take a blow from the one and only Hawkeye Mihawk just moments ago?! And you're still standing?! Just who are you?!
Buggy: Who, me?! The name's Buggy! The Legendary. That's basically what I just said. "Wait for the right candidates". All they have to do is believe Buggy would fit that position, and based on what we know they think they know, he does. He was a Roger Pirate, and the only known Roger Pirates are all legendary pirates (Shanks, Rayleigh), all of whom had been through the New World before and even been to Raftel.
