A year ago I never would have even considered voting for Ace. I didn't think he deserved his massive popularity he had before and during the war.
Fortunately, Ace grew on me during the flashback. I think I'm going to care a lot more about Ace's death in the anime then I did in the manga. Also, Luffy won last year and I've been pretty anti-Strawhats for most of the tournament.
Then again, Luffy would totally buy a better Father's Day present. I'm gonna wait a bit for this one.
Ace is the unlikeable character with more screentime in OP. That's more than enough reason to vote Luffy.

Luffy is the main character meaning he is the most fleshed out, we all know him like the back of our hand and we love it. And it's this little thing that we feel like we really KNOW the character that will drive us to vote for him.
Hence if he does win again this year, I would be strongly disappointed.
