I have to imagine they'll largely want to clean slate the show anyway and come up with new bits to match whoever becomes host, and that might mean phasing out the old talent… who largely seem to be leaving for other pastures anyway.
Maybe they could give the show to Bassem Youssef.

Never heard of him. But given how big and importnt and well paying a job host of the show is, I'm sure they had a reasonable pick of talent and got the best man for the job.

I liked his segments on the Daily Show but they didn't mesh well with the show. Maybe he'll play better as a straight man host than as one of the wacky correspondents.

Not regularly, no. I haven't cared for Willmore's show at all and haven't been motivated to tune in for just Jon's half hour.
And since Craig Ferguson left I've just sort of stopped watching Late Night all together.

Yeah, it's still a thing even if you disregard the title of this very thread because it's only referring to "late night shows", the talk show business overall is still very white so when an umm…mixed man gets such a high gig it's at least of some note. Regardless, Noah had this to say about mixed race and fame some years ago...
"They wait for you to achieve success before they give you the black standard. That's the upgrade. Before then, they say you're mixed. You achieve success and you get upgraded to black. And all the famous mixed people do it. Before, they all were mixed. … All those singers — Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey — they go, oh, you know, mixed, and then they become famous, they go, black singers. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the fact that he can speak 6 different languages. That right there is pretty remarkable along with the fact of his upbringing in apartheid South Africa until he was 10 years old. Of course things only got slowly better and are still pretty terrible down there today but I don't want to digress.

NBC - Fallon, Meyers, and Daly (Carson Daly still has a show?)

Comedy Central - Stewart/Noah and Wilmore

Don't know if anyone still watches the Nightly Show but I think it's improved drastically. I watched the first week or so when it first started out of curiosity and wasn't impressed, but I just watched last week's slate and the difference is apparent. Larry seems more comfortable and they've tabled the Keep It 100 segment for more fun and creative games. Still a pretty niche show working on building its fanbase, though.

Same here; I've not really watched the Daily Show all that much lately.
I guess I was really watching it while waiting for the Colbert Report to begin as much anything else and, since that ended, I haven't bothered all that much.
Of course, it seems like half the time I do tune in, it's just a repeat anyway so that certainly doesn't help matters either.
I wasn't watching it to wait for Colbert so much as tuning in for the hour occurred to me as a thing to do. Tuning in for the half hour just seems to slip my mind.
Similarly I missed the entire last season of South Park for some reason.
I am with Ubiq in not watching much of the Daily show, if at all for the last two years.
Don't get me wrong, Jon Stewart is a gift to this generation, but it gets to a point ,as one gets older that his routine gets old. I get it, Fox News is an insane hyper conservative hypocritical propaganda machine. But 16 years of that? 16 years of pretty much the same joke "Fox news and Republicans are insane, let's laugh" gets old, and frankly it got tiring. That is why John Oliver's brief stint as host was so refreshing, it brought something new, it brought something different.
Is this new guy going to be good? Probably. I think it is rather strange they are going with a complete newbie, but I suppose they want a blank slate, someone who is coming in with no baggage from previous shows and comedies. I do think though, that the Daily Show will transform itself from where it is now, and I think that is going to be good for the future. We'll see. As much as Jon Stewart is important, and his accomplishments speak for themselves, I am not sad he is leaving.
Though I wish he'd wait for the 2016 race to be over before, but ah well.

He's not a newbie. He's hosted his own show before. He just hasn't been a DS regular for years like Colbert, Oliver or Willmore were.
Though I wish he'd wait for the 2016 race to be over before, but ah well.
I'm sure he'll be back as a regular guest for some of that. If he hasn't ended up somewhere doing something else.
The Daily Show's gotten several new correspondents in the time I've not been watching. No thoughts on the new guy, but I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm sure there were people who doubted Jon when he first took over, but it worked out great. I've sort of been tuning into it again lately. Larry's show is alright, but I definitely feel they should just cut down on the first half of the show or get rid of it altogether. The panelists and 'keeping it 100' is the best part of the show, but they consistently have to cut people off because they're running out of time.
Problem with Willmore's show is he's basically doing Bill Maher's show… and to do that right takes a full hour. You need the first few minutes to do the news of the day, and THEN you can launch into the debatey topics with a panel.
The constant leaving and adding of correspondents the last years held the Daily Show quite fresh imo. For the new host; I've only seen his three segments with JS and I guess he will bring some new sharpness against injustice and similar issues into the show, considering him growing up in the apartheid regime.
James Corden, in his second week on the show, left the studio, went knocking around on doors, and eventually got to film the show in a random stranger's house.
Among other things, they played hide and seek with Jeff Goldblum, and played with a bunch of animals. All while the residents of the house were startstruck the whole time.

I didn't see how anyone could be disappointed with this until I went on reddit and that was all because they thought Edward Snowden was a national hero who should have been allowed to speak the entire time, not get grilled, and that Oliver shouldn't have joked around because apparently they forgot this was a comedy show and wanted it to be straight news.
Jon Stewart's last Daily Show will Be August 6th, 2015.
Letterman's last show will be on May 20. (And I think Colbert doesn't start until the fall.)

Conan is on a channel no one watches.
I miss the days when TNT and TBS actually offered something besides the same shows that are already on a half-dozen channels anyway.
Especially TNT; that used to be a great channel back in the day.

I honestly prefer him with the beard.
It makes for a good change of pace from the character Colbert, but no way he keeps it. No late night host goes unshaven.
Jon Stewart had a goatee for a couple weeks once and it looked great, but he ditched it pretty fast.
I think the long hair bugs me more than the beard.
