I'm making a huge number of PDFs, but there's a problem.

One set has 104 pages, and reaches only 10MB in size.

But the other one is 20 pages, 30MB.

I have a limit of 20MB per, so this is a problem. For some reason the size is otherworldly.

What's the cause? Is there anyway to fix this when I don't have the original anymore?

they cause maybe that the 20 page one might be in image format and 104 page might be in text form.

The only thing I've been swapping is the DPI. 300 DPI for really sensitive stuff, 100 DPI for almost everything else.

By "text" format, do you mean scanned in as a document versus a photo? I scan most of my B+W stuff in as documents because the picture's clearer, but anything in colour as a photograph.

text format is one in which u can highlight text. but might wanna try this or this

i had personal experience with second one and its good. but first seems easy.

Using large DPIs is what makes the biggest difference in how much space a file will take up.
If you use 300 it makes the file gigantic, but also make it high quality.
100 dpi makes it smaller and saves more space.

I'd say this would be a lot of the reason for your files being so large.
You could try a lower dpi on some stuff, but that's about it.

Is there a direct correlation between DPI and size (like, 100 DPI = 1/2 the size of 200 DPI) or is it related to how much "information" is on the scanned document?

I asked because I think when there's a lot of white, the software simply renders that area as "neutral" to save space. Unless I set it to photo. In this sense, the picture becomes like taking words and posting it onto an open MS Paint session.
