The author of Uzamaki and Gyo. As well as other horror comics.
Both Uzamaki and Gyo were fairly good, although the ending of Gyo was eh.

Great author. Wish he was more active, though.

16 characters of good stuff.
Uzumaki was one of the first manga I ever read. Real creepy and entertaining stuff. Though the ending was ass.
He's one of the best mangakas I know. I love how all the "monsters" of his mangas are so realistic. The fish in Gyo especially were really creepy. Uzumaki is the one I like the most though, and for the shorter ones, The Enigma of Amigara Fault was nice, I totally recommend that one.
I wish someone would translate Hell Star Remina
^Yeah, well there is that one chapter in manga.animea.net…
I remember that I was reading the raw version from mangahelpers, but I didn't get very far before they removed all raws.
The series I really really want to be scanlated is Souichi no tanoshii nikki (and Souichi no noroi nikki), but I think they haven't been done yet. It looks so disturbingly creepy from what I've seen.

Oh lord, this one was so creepy.
Uzumaki and Gyo were excellent as well, really liked them, although I'm not usually big on horror.
I got the Uzumaki volumes here at home. Truly a Masterpiece! Everything else is really disgusting and disturbing, but in a good way! xD
Most of his works aren't really scary, he has a great eye for detail, so that you can look and see every single detail of the kid's enormous shark teeth or the noodles of grease coming from the boy, but I think that, for most part, he relies too much on gore and disgusting you, rather than actual psychological scares
Of all the translated works of him, the only 2 moments that managed to scare me were the famous manga of the holes (one of the few 100% psychological [fine, 70%, because of what happens when they pass through the holes) works I read of him, it touched very well the Human curiosity) and in Uzumaki, in the first or second chapter, where like, this guy was completely rolled inside that huge pot (not scary by itself, but freaking disgusting, and it was very well hyped)
Still, doesn't change the fact Uzumaki is awesome, and so are most of the works I read of him
Read Uzumaki and Gyo when they were still up on OneManga… Scary and deliciously creepy, full of hopelessness and despair (This can be said mostly about Uzumaki). Are there any other translations of his works?
This is off topic but it seems like a good place to ask: anyone here remember a short manga where people found holes made "just for them" in the side of a mountain? They were drawn to it and just ended up getting squished or something in there, which was sort of stupid, but I'm curious because I mentioned it to a friend and they were somewhat interested.

That's The Enigma of Amigara Fault. You can read it here

I've read pretty much every of Ito's work (Tomie, Uzumaki, Gyo, Hellstar Remina, Shin Yami no Koe - Kaidan, Museum of Terror compilation, Lovesick Dead, Flesh Colored Horror and most of his one shot chapters) and I must say I definitely agree with what SGRaaize said. Overall, his work are pretty enjoyable to read, his art is amazingly detailed but I can't say they all mindfuck me as much as Suehiro Mauro and Shintaro Kago's works does. It's probably because Ito's doesn't do ero guro work like the two does, which is why I would rather read and more interested to read Ito's work than the other two.

That's from Junji Ito
The work less gross I've seen from him, and yet the only one that made me scared at the end
So fucking awesome, it touched Human curiosity and made you feel fear at its highest psychological form
It specially touched me because I am a very curious guy, I wonder if I would have tried the hole if it fit me
Only Gyo and Uzumaki seem to be familiar titles to me.
I have read Gyo and remember it as one of the dumbest and illogical pieces of fiction. The abrupt and open ending didn't help either.
Uzumaki had an interesting premise, even though messed up. But when I read it, it wasn't fully scanlated. So I'll have to finish it one night.
