Despite how much Dane Cook is memed on,
I still really like a lot of the highly quoted stuff.
A lot of which was put over anime clips on YouTube near 2008.
Zoinks! A Scooby Doo thread!

Movie is heading to streaming.

I was really looking forward to seeing that one in theaters. Hopefully this doesn't tank any plans they had for similarly treated spinoffs.

So I just watched Scoob!
! Seeing a Hanna Barbera opening with California Love sure feels weird when one knows the full lyrics, maybe I just becoming too old. Having celebrity guest VAs feels cheap and disrespectful when you have long dated talented VAs doing their job, this parasitic practice is common in Brazil but our VA industry is pretty mediocre, it's sad to see it being used elsewhere too. Did I just see pro healthy food bullies? What's the deal with Simon, first Shrek now this? Don't know enough of Blue Falcon and Dynomutt besides Laff-a-Lympics to judge them, and this Falcon is the son of the original so yeah, can't say much. The mystery I want to solve is what happened to Muttley? hah the Fbombs joke was good. Dick was trying to resurrect Muttley?! How can he be a villain with a motive this pure?! Yeah this feels more like a Hanna Barbera Multiverse filme than a Scooby Doo film. Captain Caveman was great. Overall ir's an OK movie but it feels more like a Hanna Barbera cinematic universe than a Scooby movie.

I started watching mystery incorporated. I've never cared much for Scooby Doo, or Hanna-barbera at all really, but people talked really fondly about this one and…yeah, it seems pretty fun so far. Most of the comedy is my exact wavelength. Scooby himself is my least favourite element so far, mostly because he's...whats the opposite of cockblocking? Anyway, Velma is super horny is what I'm saying

Henpenning?
I dunno.
-
Yeah the girl-dog-boy triangle drama isn't the highlight of the show. But it is overall a great show, and it seems to appeal to even the grumpy people who never cared for Scooby like robby.

That love triangle gets mostly abandoned somewhere in the first season and the show is better for it. It is easily the worst part of the show. But if you can make it past that first hurdle, you're rewarded with the greatest treasure there is: more of himbo Fred.

Watched a bit more. Upon reflection, I think my beef with Scooby (and to a lesser extent Shaggy) is not how he relates to Velma, and more that he feels straight out of the older cartoons. I'm no expert on those, but everyone else seems written with a lot more wit, whereas Scoobys whimpering antics can feel kinda out of place, like he's some mandated kid-friendly sidekick. Even the "Scooby…doobydoo...!" at the end of the title sequence feels kind of tacked on, which is weird considering the franchise bears his name
But maybe its always been this way?
-
my Memory is hella hazy about scooby in mystery inc was that he was written somewhat but not entirely similar to how he’s traditionally written whereas everybody else had some new new quirks written into their characters like Freddy being obsessed with traps and ascots.
-
More or less. Shaggy and Scooby got the least amount of change in this version because they were already developed beyond "jock leader"*, "smart one", and "damsel", so there's less room to re-imagine them. That's how it's always been with the reboots such as "What's New Scooby-Doo" or the direct to video movies (at least the ones I saw) like Zombie Island, as well; Shaggy and Scooby remain the same, and the other three get reinterpreted. I need to finish season 2 (I'll post my full thoughts then), but I got the sense that that the writers didn't find Scooby as interesting or fun to write compared to the others, or just didn't want to write him at all (this is probably the first Scooby Doo property, besides the movies, where someone besides Scooby and Shaggy gets the focus that isn't a guest). Outside of Shaggy, he barely seems to connect with anyone in the group.
- Admitedly, Fred being something of a dummy though was true with the conspiracy obsessed doofus in Pup, and heck, even What's New's Fred wasn't bright either.
-

I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this assessment of my character.
Am I really that grumpy? I thought I was generally upbeat and fun!
then again I didn't care for Gravity Falls so maybe I am a monster…
-
Fred in mystery inc feels like he's a somewhat high functioning dude on the spectrum. He isn't dumb as much as he is incapable of reading emotions and people and just super focused on his field of interest. But i liked that take on him, it means he can be this full on lets go gang guy. Also his dad is harvey birdman which just makes their interactions oh so more amusing

You didn't like scooby doo. That is instant grumphood. No questions needed.

Hmmm. On one hand, this fits, on the other, it makes his quirks less funny as a result.
And Rob's not grumpy. Exasperated at times maybe, but he absolutely does not even qualify as a rank-1 Grumbler. Take it from a former pro.

I wasn't that impressed with Gravity Falls even at the time it came out and that has only intensified now that Amphibia and Owl House have came out; both of which I like a lot more than GF. The hype for it was more because of the lack of shows like it at the time than the quality of the show itself.
-
Actually it was probably James Baxter's awesome animation for the intro. The guy is a god tier animator.
I love the show but I understand Robby. The fans could be really annoying and some are outright sick (Pinecest anyone?) BTW I put the above video that shows the most awesome James Baxter animation, including the GF intro.

Even in a cheap little commercial, Scott Innes has still got it as Scooby and Shaggy:
-
Jinkies! A Velma Prequel series is in the works.
-
ADULT animated Velma prequel series
Not a joke, apparently
Jesus
-
Adult presumably means "lesbian and stoner jokes".

Ah, so it won't just be good. It'll be Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon good.
I am leaving this joke detector on the ground for no reason whatsoever….

whut

Ultra Instinct Shaggy is canon baby
-
The Shaggy meme is one of my favourite in recent years so that made me very happy.
-
Ultra Instinct Shaggy is double real. Like, not a two second credit gag, but full blown lore and fighting style with Super Saiyan power up poses and canon real.
Also this if you need some background noise for an hour.
-
Oh so that Multiverse thing has a real trailer now.
Ultra Instinct Shaggy is just… whut. I just don't understand.
Nice that they got every real VA they could to do the various characters though.
Not gonna lie, that last Superman bit got to me a little.
-
Surprised they didn't reference the fact that Shaggy has already met Batman. Like, a bunch of times, man.
-
I don't remember that Garnet had the ability to shoot her fists like a rocket.

Guess someone saw with went down with All Star Brawl “and decided let’s not do that”.
I also hope that Tara’s Harley voice is less annoying sounding then it was in the trailer.

Don’t worry they likely won’t reference Bugs’s stint as Superrabbit either :ninja:
