I don't know if she's Akainu's daughter but I get the feeling Garp, Tsuru, Smoker, and maybe even Hina are somehow linked, and probably Bonney in the mix as well.

I'm thinking the killing of Whitebeard might be a factor here. Around the time he died, wasn't there a panel that showed her crying. Where as they were heavily influenced in the killing of Whitebeard, she won't forgive them due to that?

I'm sure there's some involvement with the WG. The fact that she seemed most scared about Zoro crossing paths with a Celestial Dragon, and that she was really mad at the Straw Hats afterwards kinda shows she must have had some previous affiliation with the government.

Unlikely since she traveled from South Blue to arrive at the New World in which WB and his crew had already earned their names in the New World. Maybe she was a subordinate of Akainu and looked up to WB as an authoritative figure whom inspired her to become a pirate instead of continuing be a marine. With her past experience as a marine, she is fully aware of the admirals' powers and therefore more cautious than the other rookies when zoro wanted to cut down the Celestial Dragon on Sabondy Archipelago.
He hated the strawhats because in the eyes of everyone, pirates were suppose to destruct rather than helping others.
