He is utterly incompetent, but Spandam nearly gave Arlong a run for his money in the complete asshole department. If he could have accomplished anything and still had that asshole attitude, Arlong would have a rival in Spanda.

Man I really wish Boa would of joined. If Boa didn't join I doubt Jinbei will join. If we pick up a fishman/mermaid/whatever from FI it will be interesting to see what role they fill. I would like for the crew to get another good fighter someone who uses a gun and a sword and has a DF that is ultra hax.
Jimbei has a lot more going for him as far as being a potential crewmember than Hancock ever did.

I wanna see Arlong joing so that Nami and him blackmailing each other like Sanji and Zoro. Although what he did to Nami's mom… he will make up for it by helping the crew and by Oda's magic. I don't think he's completely forgetable to me... and they are heading to FI first person comes to my head is Jimbei and him but Jimbei is kinda too powerful for SH. He seems very close with Arlong such as he is Arlong's scary big brother or something like that... Maybe, Jimbei will somehow persuade him to join SH? or watever...

IDK other than the ties with Ace Jimbei doesn't really offer up of much. Besides I think there's going to be too much shit going on in FI for him to even be able to leave. Especially if we consider that WB is no longer there. I expect that place to be pretty shitty actually lots of crime killing and other things going on.

He obviously has some sort of tragic past, having had previously been a member of a pirate crew made up entirely of escaped slaves.
I know it isn't much, but it's more than any character has so far and definitely more than Hancock who was probably too strong to be a part of the crew anyway. Even after the timeskip.
for what it's worth though I do think Luffy and Hancock are gonna eventually end up together at the very end of the series. I doubt it would be outright shown though.**

Not really. Sandersonia said that Sunny Pirates weren't necessarily former slaves. I doubt Hachan was one, along with Kuroobi and Chew (if you think he was with Hachan and Kuroobi in that flashback). If they were it'd probably only be a short period of time. Many of them might have joined the Sunny pirates because their siblings/parents/children/friends might have been taken as slaves. Or maybe they just thought it was cool - look at the Macro pirates, they're former Sunny Pirates who now are in the slave trading themselves when it's against everything Fisher Tiger was for.
I don't see Jinbei joining simply because he doesn't seem to have the potential to grow as a character, though that might change once we get to see more of him.

It has little to do with slavery.
They were still Fishmen who grew up surrounded by harsh prejudices and outright hatred of them for being who they were. -

Does it really count as an actual redemption? Sure he saved Luffy and helped the WB pirates but I fail to see how that makes him less of a bastard. We don't know his motivations for doing that, maybe he just really really hates the WG and would do anything to piss them off, not likely but it serves as an example. Then again I have yet to read through the war arc again, maybe I missed something, if so could you point me to it?
On another note I really don't see Jimbei joining, I'm not exactly sure why but I just can't picture it. Perhaps it's that he was introduced in the war arc (I count ID as part of the overall war arc) and and that arc ended and Jimbei left and Luffy didn't even hint at wanting him to become his nakama. Or perhaps it's that when they parted Jimbei said he looked forward to Luffy meeting him at fishman island and I can't seem to find any subtext that goes 'oh and when we meet again then I'll join your crew and sail off with you'. Or perhaps it's just that I really can't see his personality fitting in with the rest of the crew. Whatever the reason I think it's more likely that a completely new character will join that anyone we have met so far.

The last couple of pages made me realise… Pell wasn't killed so that Croc would be redeemable. It's laughable for Arlong to be redeemed after what he did, but because Croc didn't kill a character people cared about, it's a bit more believable. Amusing!

If the impossible is Perona joining, then no, it won't happen. Even Robin had some development before joining. I just can't see Perona being in the ship.
About Jimbei… it will all depend on his role in Fishman Island arc. So far I don't think he will join, but his role may change that.
Wano predictions: There will be 5 acts; All Straw Hats will get fights, some in Act 4; Big Mom Pirates will arrive; Carrot will have her moment, but won't join; Yamato will be a Kouzuki samurai and Wano's Guardian; Shanks will visit Luffy in Act 5; Next arc is Mary Geoise.

Bleh…dont talk about OM...I got bored just reading one guy posting 50 posts in one night saying Caimie as the next nakama, Caimie's dream is to be a tailor, Caimie can stitch clothes for SH...that for me makes the Boa fangirls look sane.
Edit: Jinbei has a slim chance of joining. He needs to be in FI to protect his people. Even with WB's word protecting the Island, he didnt join his crew (maybe because of his shichibukai status). Anyway, with WB gone and noone to replace keep the pirates from wrecking havoc on FI, I doubt he will go ahead and join SH. My guess is some sort of sub-ordinate of Jinbei's has a better chance of being the next nakama
