Time Paradox Ghostwriter only went 14 chapters and I think that's the shortest series I've seen.
I mean, Red Hood is desperately trying to do a hard turn since chapter 7 and make itself a hard core battle manga where everyone has weird powers, but thats been handled really badly.
The author of Red Hood already got the notice of cancellation for sure. I have yet to witness a badly received series end before 14 chapters. Red Sprite was awful and it ran until chapter 14.
Maybe 14 chapters is what the first contract says. When Shueisha sees it ain´t going anywhere they have time to find the next one.
When you account for the first chapter being extra length, 14 chapters is the minimum you need to do 2 volumes. So it makes sense for that to be the cutoff.

Mashle last is quite unusual. I'm not a fan of this bottom issue 
Mashle was always pretty mediocre, it just got on impact scenes and bits of comedy. That can only hold a series for so long.

It is utterly forgettable to the point where I can't even tell you a single name of a character in the manga because I legitimately forgot about them the moment I finished a chapter. It got rightfully cancelled.
I thought it was fine. Not totally noteworthy, but it was only 18 chapters. I feel like newer series need a bit more to bring in the hook.

It was no shock at all if you were following here. It's been clear for like two months it would end a week after Red Hood did.
Even if you aren't checking this thread, the Jump website actually posts the chapters int he same order as they are in the Japanese magazine. Popular stuff will be at the top of the page, stuff that's failing is four rows down.
It's hard to say what's next. Just going by position Ayakashi Triangle or Witch Watch should be probably next, but Ayakashi has gotten three color pages in three months which doesn't seem like something they'd do for a series that was ending soon, and Witch Watch has also gotten a couple. So I have no idea.
They might be back end weighting them as stable semi-popular series, which they do sometimes when theyh're a little less concerned about a ranking and more about balancing the magazine.

i would be sad if Witch Watch was canceled. I really like the author writing style
Witch Watch is cute. It's a fun mix of slice of life and situation of the week stuff.
I'm still reading PPPPPP. But I'm not sure why. I don't really like the art. And it's just kinda bleak. The dad screwing over his own kids and others.
I don't recall what Ayakashi Triangle is.
Ayakashi Triangle and Witch Watch will have longer leashes because they are by veteran authors who have had multiple series for Shueisha over the years. Samurai 8 lasted a lot longer than it should have because it was by Kishimoto. Hard to say what will go out next based on that.

I'm so happy for Witch Watch. There's not going to be a spiritual successor for Gintama and although Witch Watch do come close at times, it will not be the same and that's fine.
But the author really have taken what he has learnt from his previous works and I really hope for long term success for this series. At least I'm glad it has found stability for now.

Sometimes I feel like the setting limits what the author can do at times. Despite it being fantasy. I want to give comedy manga a lot more credit than other genres because being funny consistently is really difficult. Comedians reuse a lot of their jokes often and coming up with fresh ideas on a weekly basis takes some kind of mad man. Which is why some chapters can be Ok at times. Sorachi still sits on the throne though and is unfortunately, still underappreciated.

Me & Roboco is not my kind of humor. It is a bit too geek and jump centered for me. In the end, I prefer the absurdity of High School Family
I've not been a fan of either tbh. I do like Witch Watch though and I hope it continues on.
Me & Roboco has too many chapters where the joke is just "Roboco has extreme self confidence issues and does silly things to cope with it".

That Akane-Banashi first chapter was really good. The artist did a really good job which is needed for that kind of genre to work. Hopefully he gets more success since he only does the art this time.
It is a difficult topic to draw the attention of teenage readers though.
I don't really see why. For a western audience, I may agree since Rakugo is very Japanese specific and we know almost nothing about it. But we are used to read mangas about the most obscure topics now
For me, the first chapter was quite good and I'm interested in following the story.
By the way, it is not centered fully on Rakugo but if you want to try a very good High school comedy, I recommend Yugami Doesn't Have Any Friends
There was also an anime adaptation of a rakugo manga a few years back but I have not seen/read it. It received some awards so I may give it a try

Other series got at least around 18 chapters before getting axed so we should be good to go for a couple of months. Also from what I've seen so far the reception has been good enough

A series has to be a MASSIVE dumpster fire to end in under 4 months. They want to have enough chapters for at least 2 volumes, so you get at least that much, and they'll usually try to let a series get to 4 or 5 volumes to find its footing and audience.
I think Time Plagiarist Ghostwriter might be the record at 14 chapters. Even train wreck Red Hood got to 18 chapters, enough for three volumes.
That said if you watch the rankings you can usually tell if its doomed abound chapter 7. They're "officially" safe and not really ranked till after, but something doing super poorly is going to drop to the back of the magazine even during the trial period. Also if they don't get a second color spread two or three months in to give it a fresh push, that's often a sign as well.
Funny thing, the artist of the rakugo manga did Ole Golazo in 2016, and that was cancelled in 12 chapters.
