inumari dashi does alright in the ToC, it's a comedy one, but why isn't ANYONE scanlating it? is it because the main character is a pantsless kindergartener?

Even if it being a gag manga, the main obstacle for operative scanlating is the language of Inumaru. Not only is it full of text, but it also contains many cultural references and allusions.

I started translating Inumaru Dashi, but nobody scanlated the first 4 chapter so I kinda stopped.
I'm working on two (and sort of a third) projects I'm behind with right now. If I catch up with both of those I'm gonna go back and work on Inumaru Dashi. I'm gonna have to scan in the volumes and everything though, too. The thing is, it's a gag manga, so it has a lotta words and not much plot besides being episodic. And tends to have a lot of references to pop culture and stuff, too. Also each chapter is 9 pages long.
As people mentioned, Jaguar is unranked, Kochikame kinda always lands in the middle, and things with color pages/covers/opening colors aren't ranked. They're placed there to spread out where the color pages are. Generally Jump gives new series the cover unless they really think they suck. Inumaru Dashi is one of them.
Though if a series appears on the cover frequently that means it's doing very well. Because the cover is what attracts people to buy the magazine. So One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto have that a lot. Toriko, Bakuman, Gintama and Reborn get a few "covers without anything big to celebrate" too. Then occasionally a series will get the cover for its anniversary for the lesser ones. Though stuff like Psyren and Kuroko pretty much never do and just get lots of color pages.
Hmm, I've started reading Kuroko and it doesn't seem bad so far, so I can see why it's that high. Although, I feel Psyren and Beelzebub could go higher than it. I'm happy that Sket Dance is up there, it's hilarious. But why is Gintama still going on? Maybe it gets better in later chapters, but I've read about 10 and it's sooo boring. Not funny at all.
I'd like to know what Shounen Skikku and this SWOT are about… I'll probably look it up and see.

I find it kind of funny that you say it like scanlations are a given or something. I can understand if you said this about, you know, the actual magazine instead of an illegal service that people don't have to do.

Yeah, SWOT's one shot has been out for awhile, its this week that its series run starts.

Preferential treatment. The mangaka wanted to be there, he is notable (he's the guy behind "Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo! Masaru-kun") and…why the heck not?
Psyren Psyren-ing isn't news anymore to me since it just goes up and down violently week after week but still has survived 2.5 years. I still say it needs an anime to stabilize it but it just never seems to have the love in Japan as it does here.
Pretty good week for some of the more recent series otherwise.
Psyren was pretty intresting at start but lately it has become so full of shonen cliches and whole time travel bullshit that even I wish that head editor would finish its suffering existence.
Psyren should drop off just because they have the whole "train outside of time" bullshit. That is the worse Shonen cliche ever, and it was just a pointless addition to this current "War" they have going on.

But you can clearly see which series is the best... by which handled the war concept better overall. If war is meant to be fast paced and engaging, obviously... Bleach wins, lol. And if it's meant to not give you a headache just from the sheer nonsensical ideas, imagery, and abilities that are being thrown at you, shout out to Reborn.

Technically naruto hasn't officially started there war, the war was announced but nothing of it has been shown and probably won't be shown until after this current arc is done.
That bleach series man whoo doggie that made hours fly right by not a single dissapointing moment, revelation after revelation with pulled strings all around and A really nice scene at a carnival.

Sucks so bad being a fan of Psyren… I've been following it since it started, and it's always been nervewracking seeing it yo-yo in the rankings as it does. Especially after those morons cancelled Double Arts (which was honestly a better series), I've been watching its rankings like a hawk.
It's probably safe for now, especially what with the novelization coming out soon and all, but still.

I happen to like Kuroko >_< It's better than some of the other bullshit. But Metallica and Shikku are definitely gone, it's just a matter of time. I hope Sket Dance goes back up. Maybe Psyren at least to get a few more chapters, since it's falling off a bit now anyway.

Even if you've had support, a few weeks consistently at the bottom for a known series is doom for it. Mx0 was just unfortunate with what happened, combined with all that was happening in '08 anyway that just pushed it out. (remember: '07 was pretty much a DOA year so it was able to last a bit before the '08 series stormed it out of town)
Metalika is generic shit shonen adventure at it's worst, it certainly deserves it's cancellation.
Kinda liked Shonen Shikku, though. Ah well.
I would say give it a little more time , to see if anything actualy interesting shows up during the exam .
I mean the person behind it had to get some ideas first and had to present them to get this greenlighted to…..I stil have hope .

When did One Piece have ones? Chapter 1 and chapter 300? It was never a habit. Besides, colourspreads are fun as it is.
On the other hand colour pages could help prevent the anime fucking up colour schemes on some characters , that is , unless they finaly have the bright idea to ASK ODA FIRST .
And I stil have hope for Metallica , I realy hope 8 is gonna be where it starts showing some new stuff .

"Color pages" means "spread" unless it's the very first chapter, where the first story page is colored as well. It's not One Piece that stopped doing notable amounts of color pages, it's the magazine as a whole.
But OP hasn't gotten one in nearly 300 chapters , whereas Bleach just had one , so…...
Haven't seen that particular chapter yet, so can't say FOR SURE, but I guess that "color page" Bleach had was the title page. One Piece had color pages/a spread in issue 28.

I don't like the jump color pages that aren't color spreads, they seem silly and out of tone from the rest of the magazine.
As nice as Kubo's random fashion pose colorspreads can be, I like it a lot more when it's actually pages of the actual chapters that just happen to be in color.
It just looks really fucking nice, too bad it's VERY rarely done.
Same goes for the last time it was done in Naruto, Kishimoto's art actually looked nice for the two or so pages that the color lasted for.

Psyren, bottom 5 again… no surprise. Although, I do want Sket Dance to rise up again, it's really quite hilarious. Good to see Bleach dropping though. My hopes of it finally ending may come to fruition. New series will probably suck... I see MineaXMinea (it fits so well...) and Shonen ending soon. Medaka will probably be on it's way out soon too, Kuroko as well. Yay, One Piece is basically the top, minus the new series. Besides that, nothing major.
