So what are everyone's opinions on the new series from this last year?
I quite like Yozakura. The scenarios are quite fun and compelling and the series has a nice pacing so far. I could see this staying in the magazine and going places. Mitama is more of a mixed bag: some of the gags are funny, but chapters are already starting to feel repetitive and we are only on chapter 3. I do enjoy having a gag series to spice up the magazine, though, so I'll keep reading it.
From the previous batch, Double Taisei has been pretty good recently, with great art and interesting characters (even if it still fails as a shogi manga), but it's probably too late. Beast Children seems to be wrapping up and, by the looks of it, it's going to have quite a satisfying ending, which is rare for an axed series. TSS continues to be barely competent. I don't think it's making a good use of its setting, but the art is nice and the powers are kind of cool. This might survive for a while if only because it sold marginally better that the other two and the magazine currently has plenty of space.
Samurai 8 has way too many scenes of only cumbersome exposition for me to call it a good manga. It looks nice, though it's sometimes hard to read, but there's room for a lot of improvement in the story and characters department.
Yui Kamio seems to have come into its own in these last few arcs. I would love it if the series continued being an enemy-of-the-month kind of deal where Kiito has to solve the girls' problems through communication instead of fighting. I think it's a cool dynamic. And the art is still gorgeous.
Finally, Chainsaw-man is one of the most unique Jump manga in a long, long time and I am incredibly happy that it's found a place in the magazine. I 'm looking forward to future developments, though I wonder how long it's going to be before reaching its natural conclusion. -
I've given my opinion before. With the notable exception of Chainsaw-man, which is one of the most unique shonen series I've seen in many years, I don't think any of the other ones is good enough to stay for long on Jump. The only thing saving them is the fact that many older series finished at roughly the same time and so it's a fight among equally bad/just ok series to survive. Honeslty, they bore the hell out of me more than anything else. I'm not fond of Yozakura either. Mitama Security has some funny gags but indeed it's starting to feel repetitive. Kamio Yui has some pretty cool art panels but the characters and story don't excite me at all. Samurai 8 is pretty to look at but mostly in a static fashion. It's often hard to follow since characters do not stand out very well from the background and action scenes are either hit or miss. Plus, the constant explanations which even the main character finds boring take too much away from the story. It has potential, but so far I'm not feeling it. The cast isn't that engaging either. Hachimaru is not that likable, Ann is just… boring. I like the Master Cat though. Beast Children has actually been the one I've been enjoying the most so far. Not that much, but just enough. It does look to be fast forwarding towards cancelation though. Can't even bother to talk about the remaining ones, they just don't pull me in at all.

Yeah, I know. And I feel like it should end already. We're a bit too far from the premise now and I don't think there is much more the story can offer after the new promise thing.

Boxer's Blast was cancelled, so I think Akira Akatsuki is not doing anything at the moment. Since Medaka Box ended he has collaborated with NisioisiN a couple of times, the last one was an adaptation of Zodiac War, I believe, you can read it on Viz's app.
Majo no Kaiga is by someone called Hachi, no relation to Houshin Engi that I know of. Ryu Fujisaki is currently serializing an adaptation of Legend of the Galactic Heroes in Young Jump. -
Thanks. .

Wow, One Piece is out of the top3. It has been years since it happened !
-
Probably on it's first year only.
-
Cant wait to see peoples being wrong about Kimetsu no Yaiba or Kingdom will be the best selling manga this year.
-
Is One Piece being 4th unprecedented?

@All:
Is One Piece being 4th unprecedented?
Not unprecedented but the last time it happened was in 2015 and it is quite rare in general

Hmm, I see. Wonder if it's during Dressrosa or Zou.

WSJ rankings throughout the years: [https://www.dropbox.com/s/6upzrginsjatggf/Grafici TOC.xlsx?dl=0
I](https://www.dropbox.com/s/6upzrginsjatggf/Grafici TOC.xlsx?dl=0)t's only the 6th time since 2006 that OP is out of the top 3. But even 3rd spot is rare. It's constantly shifting between number 1 and 2. But the truth is that WSJ roster is pretty damn strong at the moment, in my opinion. There are around 8 good to really good series, followed by a big load of trash that started this year. It's not common at all, but it's not that surprising to see it happen.
