I've recently felt the itch to upload certain scenes from certain games to youtube, if for my own amusement. I have no idea where to start, though. Are there any specific programs I should download or are there options for video capture on the computer (or on Steam) that I am not aware of? I should probably mention that I am a Mac user.
Taking Videos of Computer Games

I think Source games have their own built in video taking ability though I'd have to find it. You could always use Fraps, too. I wouldn't be able to help with it, though, since I've never used it.

HyperCam. You have to play around with the settings though because if your machine changes its specs, the settings change too. Several years ago I used HyperCam to record mahjong videos, but they had no sound and when my computer got an upgrade, the settings got messed up.

Fraps is fine if you've got the space since it records uncompressed footage. Once you record something use virtualdub to compress it….......I've personally used Fraps to record several games and if your machine can handle it I'd go with Fraps.

I'll try both out, thank you!
(Sorry for the late response. Two day long blackouts will do that to you, haha).

Two day long blackouts?? Do you perchance live in/ or have recently moved to Pakistan??

I used camtasia on my final college proyect, It will probably work well with games, easy editing, and capturing of videos.
