Voting for Nami because (a) she really is one of my favorites, she doesn't get enough panel time as an important comic foil and the logistical heart of the Straw Hats, and (b) voting for a panel-filler character over her simply because she's a Straw Hat is way too petty for my liking.
Sure, she probably won't make it past the third round, if that, but I'd much rather see her lose to someone like Crocodile or Garp than…this. (I'll weep if she gets crushed by Pwngoat, though. Openly. No one deserves that fate, not even Beckman.)

I'm not really big on long-winded speculation or symbolism-hunting or shipping (except Robicho because I really respect how creepy it is) or anything like that.
This kind of goofy-ass "who-in-One-Piece-would-win-in-a-fight-or-at-least-an-Internet-popularity-contest" kind of discourse is much more my speed. I get to schpiel for my personal favorite for a paragraph or two (hopefully not more than that or I'm doing something wrong and unfunny), and I'm done. Other than that, I'm happy to just lurk.

Regardless, we have several General forums, and the General One Piece forum is pretty lax. There's not much 'long-winded speculation' or serious discussion going on there.Plus you have plenty of posts. I was talking about people who never contribute and have less than 10 posts.

Bon Clay adored Nami and cosplayed her. The man who gave us the most epic speech in Impel Down is also a Nami's fan, not Hancock's. If it wasn't for Nami, Luffy wouldn't have been rescued by Bon Clay, which later give us one of the most epic thing in Impel Down and one of the most in One Piece.

Yeah, because an overwhelming majority of users who actually post and contribute to threads, who are actual valuable members of this site don't usually vote for the SH's most of the time. As of now with 92 votes in, if I click on who voted for what, the amount of people I recognize and have seen post for each character are:
People who voted for Nami:

18/42Again I'm just one person so this probably doesn't mean much, but I'm sure there's a pattern to these polls with SH's in them. Lurkers tend to vote for the Strawhats.

Each and every match has lurkers in it from the poll results. It's just people like to bitch when the main chars are winning.

Nope, Dr. Blackbeard did nothing beside being so useless that the Roger crew had to seek a new doctor- Crocus. It was Pandaman who saved them, with the help of Dragon, who later will teach Nami how to create a storm that blow shits and our minds away.
Remember that Nami gave us one of the most powerful moment in One Piece, when she yelled at Luffy and told him to stop dicking around and get his ass out of the buildings to save Robin.

I don't have anything aginst any of Straw Hats (maybe, except Chopper the merchfag). But seeing them win for the fourth time isn't as fun as it is for the first three times.
