Fair enough.

Anyway, people's theory about Natsu and Gajeel (and Wendy too, for that matter) actually being really old may be true:

Probably not the most accurate translation, but Grandeeney here hints that Wendy and Natsu have met before. Also, considering Natsu's weird reaction to meeting Wendy during the Oracion Seis arc, it's possible that they could be continually reborn every so often as a new dragon slayer… or that their memories are transfered from the original dragon slayers to the current ones. I hope Mashima hasn't forgotten about this.

After this arc, I decided that as bad as Fairy Tail's gotten, I'd go back through the series and relive the moments that weren't terrible balls of fail.

I hope that the Dragon King Feast happens soon… it was foreshadowed a long time ago. Perhaps that's why the "time skip" was necessary: to create enough time for the Feast to commence, just as one of the main reasons for the time skip to happen in One Piece was to speed things up toward the next World Reverie.

Mashima works 16 hours a day 6 day a week. Seems a bit too much, especially now, when he has only one manga running.

But most importantly, he tells how Fairy Taint came to be: his editor asked him to draw fantasy since Magazine had none at the time. And look where we are now.

If that's the case on a normal basis, I've got to wonder how much time he spend working for that week when three chapters came out at the same time. (back around chapter 200 or so, when Zeref's identity was first revealed)

The "a timeskip that's not a timeskip" got me laughing so hard. with it's Bakuman influence you can't help but appreciate the trolling. I think this chap elevated Mashima and Fairy Tail to be merged with the Naruto and Bleach thread.

I've never read Fairy Tail, but this was hilarious.

Thinking about this age thing, isn't it weird that Edolas Wendy 'grew up' when DragonSlayer Wendy didn't?

Although that might just be fan service, because we know Natsu and Wendy grew up at least to where they are now…

Wendy is younger than Natsu and Gajeel, and we have seen her grow up. We saw her in flashbacks traveling with young Mystogan, and she was a very young child. She's also the only Dragon slayer whose age we actually know, which is 12.

I think this is the major reason people want to hate or bash a series. They don't want to remember details, or be bothered to, so they decide to take the lowbrow path and just insult the work instead…

Didn't you just get in trouble over this in the Naruto/Bleach thread? You're jumping to conclusions based on what you perceive other people are saying.

Edolas Wendy is SIGNIFICANTLY older than Wendy is, she grew up significantly - don't be pedantic. There's a huge difference between what Wendy looks like compared to her Edolas form and what Natsu and Gazille look like compared to their Edoras versions.

The reason why Edolas Wendy looks so different is because in Edolas, where everything is opposite - Wendy's most defining characteristic, her young age - is reversed, so she's much older there. Natsu and Gazille aren't young, and their most distinct characteristics were in personality, and those were reversed.

Also, the small "details" in Fairy Tail wouldn't save it from being bad.

But you are right about the Dragon King's Feast. It is very likely this is the reason for the seemingly arbitrary 7 years time skip. The Dragons all disappeared 7 years ago, and we know they have some kind of regular meeting where they all come back together, and are also aware of current events. The story was very probably advanced 7 years so that the Dragons could be reintroduced to the story again.

Sorry, that last comment wasn't aimed at him, I was just making a general statement. In any case, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be pedantic. I'm fully aware that the contrast between Edolas Wendy and Earthland Wendy is their age, but to say that Earthland Wendy hasn't "grown up" because of fanservice is silly. Grandeeney hinted she met Natsu before. Whether that was when they were very young or in a past life, we don't know. We do know that Gajeel and Natsu are much older than they appear, but we have seen Natsu as a child, and know he looked much younger when he first joined the guild. Personally, my guess is that they're reincarnated every so often. It would make the most sense, but to be honest, I'm not 100% on it until we get more information. The fact that they were blocked by Fried's barrier, that Zeref knows Natsu (and by proxy, may know Wendy and Gajeel), and the fact that Grandeeney has mentioned Natsu and Wendy meeting once before (coupled with Natsu's odd reaction when Wendy was first introduced), all points to them having existed or lived in the past in some form. Being that the Arc of Time magic, the most powerful (and only) time manipulation magic shown so far cannot affect living beings (except plants and rocks), there has to be some form of longevity at play. But I have no doubt there's a specific reason we were given Wendy's age but Gajeel and Natsu's remains a mystery.

A possibility. Igneel has the same scar on his neck, too, in the same spot, only reversed. Maybe Acnologia attacked them both or something in an attempt to kill them, but failed or was driven off by something/someone else.

I thought, we hoped that the time skip was to do with the dragons in a way. 7 years was a odd amount of time. But I still didn't care for the execution of it. If this dives us into the dragon plot I'll probably keep reading since that was what I wanted to see most.

Maybe they are physically linked in a way to their dragons. I want to see Gazille's dragon, I bet that looks really awesome.

Well that was after they beat Faust with "tomorrow's magic". Also Gazille is metal, so he gets a metal dragon. It looks like Toothless though.

I meant the Edolas Wendy was fan service, not normal Wendy.

I also know we've seen both Wendy and Natsu grow up, but I was just theorizing whether Edolas' Wendy's age had any significance, or whether it was just supposed to be 'opposite'.

My main theory is that they don't age while with the Dragons, because if she was only with Grandeen until she was 5, it's surprising she knows any of her magic's ability (unless she didn't, and learned it at Caitshelter…?)

I also like the series. I criticize it often, but I enjoy reading it for the most part.

Glad to know that the dragons are appearing in a more frequent manner. As far as Fairytail is concerned, I always thought it is Lucys story. Her journey into the magical world filled with both good and bad guys. Now a days she is more of a side kick to Natsu & Co. Anyways I like Fairytail because of its artwork. Mashima is a good artist but for plots he needs to hire a good writer. Seriously he is wasting his talent.

No, Robin is Stephanie Young. I'm not sure if she has any roles in FT, but Colleen Clinkenbeard does Erza.
