Fairy Taint Discussion II

Maybe we're looking at this the wrong way. You guys have every reason to be skeptical, but perhaps this is the opportunity for the lesser-used members to actually do something. Since the main cast hasn't trained, they may not be selected to represent the guild in the upcoming tournament, so the other, less-used members may have time to shine.

Maybe…but look at who didn't join them in the 3 month party. You still have Laxus and his group, Gajeel and Panter Lilly. But I'm all up for Natsu to not hog the spotlight. But actually getting to see Max fight would be nice since he's supposed to be strong now.
-
Mangastreams translation is up and it's better
-
Consider how this specific group of characters not getting to train for 3 months effects the manga. Obviously everyone else in the guild wasn't able to do anything either because we couldn't see them not doing anything.
-
Hey guys wanna know something interesting? Three months in human world = 1 day in celestial spirit realm, right? So the seven years that the gang was imprisoned was just 28 days to the celestial spirits. So basically the spritis ended up missing Lucy SOOO MUCH in that short period of time that they decided to break every rule ever and bring the group to the celestial realm for the first time ever. Yeah that makes sense.
-
This discussion is boring.

Let's discuss this.
I still can't see it, sorry.

@Cyan:
I'm still trying to work out what in God's name Plue was doing in Fairy Tail.
He's been there for ages.
He's usualy just doing stuff in the background whenever we focus on Lucy.

Being honest, the dragonfly(something something) group's translation was far better this week. Sure they seemed to use sentences in a bit of an odd way because you couldn't see anyone using them at that point in time, but they were at least things people would normaly say.
Unlike last week :P

Yeah.
16 characters of fairy fail.
Strange.
Can you see the image in my signature atleast?
I'm questioning whether or not the client I'm using makes things invisible to some users. Otherwise I'll reupload later this morning(busy). -

Throw away chapter for me, but the last page was so freaking funny. I just burst out laughing. Its kinda lame though how they were legitimately wanting to train. Only to have all there time wasted. Well lets see where Mashima goes with this. A spirit realm arc would have been pretty cool though.

Lucy spoiled them way too much.

Well, it's Fairy Tail. I'd be suprised if Mashiam amanged to not include a plothole with a new chapter.

Lol that guy on the frontpage is totally not Smoker with his jacket.

Yeah, that's not just a resemblance, it's a complete steal.
-
Why the fuck did Lucy then have to make contracts with the Spirits based on what days they are free? Like, Monday yes, Tuesday no, Wednesday yes, etc? If a day in the real world is less than an hour in the spirit realm, how the hell does that make ANY sense?
-
P-P-PANDEMONIUM!
-
….Aaand there goes my tolerance of this series.
-
-
Why ?
-
funniest fucking chapter ever
i seriously cannot stop laughing
now mashima has his heart set on trolling the characters instead of the readers

She doesn't even summon them on their respective days to begin with.

Oh and if you guys want any idea how bad the FT section over at NF is…..one of the guys there spent an entiere post oggling Wendy.
He called her body a "work of art" in the first line......... :getlost:

If a celestial spirit is in danger of dying after spending a year in the human world. Then that would mean that the time disparity is tied to the small window of time where they can actually be outside the celestial spirit world.

So if a Celestial spirit is outside of the Spirit World for a year, that's what, 4 days in the Spirit World ?
That's not long enough to get your newspaper subscription canceled.

You know they are immortal and they don't seemingly age, I think this does explain why.
Although my point is that it was established early on that they lose their vitality and can die if they spend too much time in the human world. The time disparity just adds onto the already apparent notion that the amount of time they spend in the human world needs to be regulated appropriately.

Man, why are you wasting time trying to sync this up with something Hiro has long forgotten ?
I mean, he doesn't even remember how long Lucy's been in the guild for cryin' out loud.
-

-
It's obvious why Lucy can't summon spirits on certain days. Such as not summoning say Aqcuarious on the 3rd of every month. That time correlates to 5 a.m. in the spirit world and she is busy taking a dump at that time.
Its obvious the times they can't be summoned are when they are on the shitter

Oh really now. You're going to put any hope in the characters that caused the guild to be the worst in Fiorie(Sp?) to step up in the festival due to training they did that we didn't even see? At best for most of the non-combat tasks they'll show some skill they might reference that they were working on
When the fights start it'll be all Natsu and the rest going all out and these other losers being thrown in as human shields and fodder. I can totally see a group of those guys defending Lucy as she stumbles through a fight against a stronger opponent.

You guys do realize this isn't just a "fighting" tournament.
Did you not see the only pic we got of the tournament and it was showing people standing around seeing who could hold up the most bags of sand. They were not fighting each other. I'm sure there will be some fighting, but I see more things along the lines of testing unique ways of using magic or stuff like taht instead of just a pure all out brawl.
I mean lets say they have a RACE. How is Lucy, Natsu, Erza, Gray going to be in that? Shouldn't say Jet be the best in that even though he would be weaker than them?
-
You guys do realize this isn't just a "fighting" tournament.
Did you not read my post. I specifically call it a festival and differentiate to a part when fighting will occur and w/e else Mashima cooks up as a challenge where these losers can show some worth.
Read my post again.
My point, regardless of fights these guys who let the guild tank for 7 years are not gonna pull their weight in this "tournament" after 3 months of training. They'll be some things where it's shown they are of some value but these side characters in the guild are not going to be chosen to represent the guild over the main characters.

Sounds like your going to ignore the rest of the "festival" as pointless then and only consider the FIGHTING part to be relevent. What if these others do every non fighting event.
But whatever, do you really care about seeing more of Jet, Droy, Lucky, Macau, Max, Miki, Mikuni, Nav, reedus, Tono, Visitor, Wakaba, or Warren. Do you really want this to turn into Bleach and we sit and have to watch 1,000 stupid people fight.
I had to go and look at the character sheets Hiro makes for them to see who all the missing members where. I didn't list Biska and Arzak since I kind of like them and hope to see some more of them and their daughter. But please tell me about these other guys who interest you so much that you want to watch and arc on them.

Lets not fool ourselves at this point, this is a piss poor adventure battle borderline eechi manga. It's not an unconventional battle manga, a non-mainstream battle manga, mystery and suspense manga, etc. This arc will most likely end in a fight or will be decided with one as far as the goal to restore FT's reputation. It's not going to come down to a puzzle or a making a cooking dish with magical ingredients. I'm not going to ignore the rest of anything. I'm stating facts. You honestly think these other non-fighting matches will be interesting and even pursued after this arc? Mashima's not gonna write a story for this arc that will amaze me, at best he'll come out of this with another average plot but most likely, shell out subpar work that might have appeared to have potential at one point. So far he hasn't even been good at expanding the FT world and he's never been good at excelling at displaying other skills, talents, and possible future arcs.
Honestly, hell no cuz Mashima isn't even that good at juggling his main characters let alone additional ones, a bunch of guys he's painted as losers that'll only be used as convenient plot devices or in the background fodder.
I had to go and look at the character sheets Hiro makes for them to see who all the missing members where. I didn't list Biska and Arzak since I kind of like them and hope to see some more of them and their daughter. You jump to conclusions and assume too much.

fairy tail makes appreciate naruto. sigh
-
pardon my ignorance but what exactly is bad about fairy tail..well i never actually followed the series so i dont have any opinions other than the author seems to put more work in it than kishi and kubo, is it just cliche? Boring? plot a mess?….what?
-

Yes, yes, and yes. I'm sure you could find some posts explaining why in this very thread.

I was thinking of asking him if he's just trolling but…..no one was even slightly concerned by his line.
No one even responded to it.

Well we had a guild retconed once so that it never even existed, even though it took part in a guild alliance at the start of the arc.
An alliance to take out one of the most powerfull dark guilds.

Pretty much. It has the occasionally decent chapter, but they're few and far between. The rest of it is just bland, uninspired codswallop.

I guess I'm weird in that area, because I actually thought it was quite good up to Tower of Heaven and some of Fighting Festival. Of course it got some ass pulls, clichées and nakama punches here and there, but all in all, I thought it did fine. Not One Piece good, but quite good as I stated before.
The series first jumped the shark to me at the end of Fighting Festival where it was revealed that Luxus, despite trying to kill all of Magnolia with every means thinkable, actually didn't hate them at all and couldn't use Fairy Law. And then Jellal reappeared…Now I think the plot is quite bad with some very few okay or slightly good moments. I guess I'm weird AGAIN, but I thought the overall plot of Edolas wasn't too bad. It was only Mashima handling that plot that made it bad. Oda could probably have worked wonders with Edolas if Fairy Tail was his story.
But outside the plot, Fairy Tail has a very good art, it has humor, the character interactions outside of serious situations are good, and the "aftermath" chapters right after the final fight of an arc are usually well-done. So that makes me think it is alright after all. Generally, I often feel that I don't hate the series enough to discuss it outside of a dedicated Fairy Tail forum - however, on those it is often too well-liked for my taste. -
Fairy Tail, over time has gotten worse, but most of the arcs, are all really good ideas. The idea behind Tower of Heaven was good, and so was the Fighting Festival arc, but the resolution of the battles/dramatic moments/key scenes time and time again have been a let down.
Edolas and Mystogan were great ideas, porrly executed in general. Edolas was the perfect arc to show the scope of magic in the world, but it turned out to be a nothing gained adventure.
Even the Oreiscon Seis arc showed other guilds, although that was probably the weakest arc concept so far.
Mashima comes up with good settings and story lines, but he sucks at consistency and themes. When he starts an arc it's like "this is a cool idea" versus "this will develop the story and characters".
-
Fairy Tail is the manga equivalent of the tv show Heroes.
-
Fairy Tail is the manga equivalent of the tv show Heroes.
Whoa the first season of Heroes was actually good. Can't really translate that part to FT; it's a manga all about wasted potential and getting fans to have hope in the potential of the story and then lots of trolling.
