Well, Toei and and thier track record for cheaping out on long series is a given. Not that it matters to me. The anime industy is niche in America, and well.. I just don't watch or support the anime.
Honestly, I don't watch either anime, but even the manga localization seems to be more faithful. Maybe not nowadays, but I remember a few years ago reading Fairy Tail and seeing unedited sound effects and Japanese attacks and a lot of explanations in the back of the book. Shit sucks. It doesn't really affect me much; I just hate to see such good work on something so utterly undeserving.
Translated sound effects… are a problem? Hahah! Not for me. It flows alot better than wasting time reading little notes on almost every single page. I am reading a comic that's supposed to be translated in English afterall. Maybe not the early volumes in where they used ugly fonts, but now? Translated sound effects are good for me.

Fire + Wind = Explosion Magic
Explosion Magic(lv3)+ Dragon Wind Magic(lv3) = Supernova Dragon Magic (?profit?)
The most aggravating thing about it is that it seems like the anime has a high budget or something.
Fairy Tail anime has a budget now?! That's news to me.
As far as i've watched, it has the worst key animation work out there. Not to mention the censoring.
So…Happy would defeat Hades? I don't know how to feel about that.
think of pirates of the caribean and that pirates heart. Imagine something like that, where happy stabs it and hades dies.
I would rather have something like that happen than fairy tail to somehow win this battle. I mean the whole group all attacked already, laxus attacked, laxus gave natsu an insane powerup and natsu attacked and now they are attacking again. Meanwhile during all this hades is just shrugging it off like nothing.
SO yes i would rather have happy stab some heart than somehow this teamwork eventually work.

mistake of those only watched first episodes.
hell the animation seems pretty damn good so far as the end of the tower of paradise arc. And i hear it only gets better.
Of course censoring as you said, there is pretty sure ZERO blood. but that don't bother me.
The animation in this latest episodes its not that great,it goes up a bit when lucy is envolved sometimes (i wonder why).
Im almost caught up with episodes (didnt see 93 yet) the animation feels lousy perphaps its story itself it makes me feel that way, anyway they are fighting the Dragon made of steel thingy and so far besides the comedy bits its really lousy.
I'd hardly call it a masterpiece of directing or animation, but the anime's art has improved since the start, though the animation isn't very ambitious, it's less stiff than before.
There are still some real stinkers though. The conclusion to the Erza vs. Erza fight looked godawful, and the fight with the dragon mecha was a giant snoozefest.
i think maybe its kind of a trick that it seems good, due to the amount of material they cover.
i mean when they move at this pace we don't have many stand still frames because so much has to happen. so even though the action scenes may not be of super high budget, there are a LOT of action scenes and thus why a high budget is needed. MORE of teh quantity vs. quality argument.
also i glanced at the erza fight somewhat the other day, didn't watch it all or pay too close attention was just seeing what part of story ep 93 was on and happened to click to those scenes. But they seemed pretty good to me. not like end of fight one piece good, but nowhere near anything bad. there won't be gifs made of it to mock it like naruto/pain fight. but there won't be gifs made to praise like luffy/lucci/gattling.
I like the anime now
I couldn't stand it in the beginning but even then I could give it a break because it wasn't just throwing whatever out there like the Toriko anime is. I probably would have ended up dropping it by the Phantom Lord arc if that was the case.
Some of the changes are a bit odd, though. Like, for example, instead of Racer having dynamite strapped to his chest, he had some Lachryma thing that looked like a Simon Says. And, like several have mentioned, no blood. I did enjoy the filler where Lluvia had everyone drink the "Rival" potion, and Makarov rivaled Alcohol, Cana rivaled Makarov, Shadow Gear rivaled the Raijinn, Elfman Rivaled everyone, Mirajane Rivaled Ezra, Ezra rivaled… a column, and Grey Rivaled Happy (in flight). That was hilarious stuff.

The two standalone filler eps are realy good. Haven't seen the first filler arc yet.
I do wish they made more of these comedic episodes myself. If nothing else they give other FT members at least a couple of seconds of extra screentime.
Straight up, the Fairy Tail filler episodes is everything that wanted and expected FT to be.

haven't gotten as far as that arc yet in the anime, but i can see the lachryma being a better alternative to dynamite. i mean this whole series is about magic, then to have someone use dynamite? seems like a "eh will it do any damage"
the anime has done a better job of making many more things be magic related. though as you said some of them they have made look too kiddy or childish that it loses some of the "DANGER" to it

Oh I understand that…but that means that Happy succeeds where Makarov and a few other actually nice characters failed. This just seems like at the same time a no-win situation, and yet it's not even the worst possible scenario, in fact it's a happy alternative. What do you even call that?
That's just the surprise last boss.

so, i propose we merge this with the naruto and bleach threads

Why...just why?
If this super heart thing was so important then why the hell was it so easy to destroy that even a couple of cats could do it?!?
Just why!?!

But TLS, at leats we got to see Hades' Abyssmall magic, like…...like.......
I'm sorry, there's just so many things wrong the more I think about it. How could a former guild master be an absolute weakling without this heart thing. What is the heart? How does it work? If it were so important, why was it never explained before? What was the point of the Tenrou tree being restored when the enemy was without any magic as well? They could have just ganged up and beat the crap out of him. How could Mashima throw away a supposed top tier villain and a former guild master as if he were a one shot villain without even giving him some proper character development? What was the point of this arc? Nothing changed. No character development, no progression of the story, they just beat some villains.
Just why, why, why?!?

Hades got gimped. In the most bullshit way possible. And also… how the heck did everyone's magic power "return"? Wasn't they casting spells this entire time? What the hell is going on here?
Oh. A chapter of Fairy Tail. That's what this is.
I don't realy find too much to rage about this chapter.
Mainly because I've already complained about this happening so much I don't even care anymore. The thing with the cats taking down Hades, essentialy, was also predicted and like the BS it is it actualy happened. What else is there to say ?
It's kind of like the recent chapters of Bleach: after complaining for five weeks straight abotu Orihime and Chad's brainwashed-ness, sudden lack of any trust in Ichigo, their willingness to overlook the fact that their "new friend" is attacking him with a sword, and the fact that he admits in front of them to having changed their pasts, while these two didn't appear in the story for literal years and have just a couple of weeks prior anounced they had been training to not be useless anymore…..after the issue not being adressed at all for a month , you just lose steam.
If you'll allow me some hyperbole, I've gotta say this arc, this fight, and this chapter are, like, the nadir of manga. Everything that could be wrong about a shonen manga. Unaddressed plot threads, shlocky asspull powerups, unkept promises… the distant sparkle of character development! Cruelly snuffed out by bullheaded word twisting. I've been largely avoiding commenting on FT the past couple of weeks because sometimes one has to step back and take the long view. I could not possibly see how this manga could get worse after LIGHTNIN FRUM DAGRON. 'Lo and behold. I felt every page of this chapter, but especially the last three, like knives in my groin. Like Mashima was watching, winking overtly, and twisting.
Phone it in more, you hack.
Fairy Tail isn't just doing cookie cutter: it's doing chalk-outline. I can see it! The corpse of something better. But now I'm just something bitter.

I personaly think that we need an angelic chorus of seraphs to drive the point home even more.
I mean, shoot me if I'm wrong ! :ninja:
Terrible, terrible chapter.
i knew this would be bad, but not this bad.
My biggest complaint about this chapter is having fodder defend something that valuable. What the hell, Mashima? Hades has fodder protecting the source of his power? He should have a dragon or two chained up and mind-controlled protecting that shit. Seriously… other than that, I guess it was... okay. I don't have a problem with the whole "magic object is the source of my power, blow it up and I'm weak" concept. It's like a Lich's Phylactery. You break that shit and the Lich is a spineless wimp. Plus, he can't come back once he's dead. It's overdone in a lot of Fantasy media, but we haven't had this done in Fairy Tail yet. At least he didn't go down as easily as Brain/Zero.
sigh Ah, well. At least we still have Ivan and the unknown leader of Tartarus. Raven Tail and Tartarus are Mashima's last chances.
I got a bad feeling, though. Tartarus hasn't even been mentioned. Grimoire Heart and even Oracion Seis were foreshadowed. Even Raven Tail has been shown (the guild master, anyway). We don't know Tartarus from a hole in the wall, other than the name and the fact that they're the third guild of the most powerful Dark Guilds. Watch Lucy's mother not be dead, but in fact be the leader of this guild. Just watch. Calling it now. Layla Heartfilia is the leader of Tartarus.
So wait, Natsu can barely stand up, needs to be thrown in an acrobatic fashion, then suddenly kicks the shit out of Hades and with his "returned" magic power, sends an incredibly powerful attack? Wut?
That was superbly boring -_-
tosses FT into the same boat as Bleach
well, it was unexpectedly bad chapter.
This power source, if it turns out to be really important to Hades's health and/or his plans…why would he have fodder guarding it?
I don't know past-self. But hey, this is Fairy Tail.
Let the stupidity fly.
Yeah…... the best part of the chapter for me was Rustyrose. And the prospect of the start of a new story arc.
This would have been passable if one of the Seven Kin were guarding it. But great idea. Send them all to island. Leave something so fragile guarded by a bunch of fodder that weren't even there to begin with. (I honestly thought Capricorn took all with him)
Taken from narutofan:
Better not be some bullshit like Laxus just gave up all his magic to Natsu and Laxus's magic is Natsu's now and he won't be able to use magic anymore or I'm gonna rage fucking hard. I'm probably over exaggerating things.
Oh god, if this actually happens…
lol

This brings back memories of Zero having absolutely no one guarding any other lachrymas but his own, even if they were essential to keep Nirvana operational.
So didn't Charle have a vision a while back of someone dying or something ??
So didn't Charle have a vision a while back of someone dying or something ??
In before it suddenly refers to Zancrow :P
Why wasn't that heart machine thing not guarded better? Seriously, some guild master you are Hades. Idiot.
Actually, come to think of it…
There have been a lot of arcs with the whole "destroy the one thing that keeps this thing moving" as a major plot point, haven't there? Phantom's Super Mage Giant Phantom Mk II... Nirvana's lacryma, Edoras' Dragon Chain Cannon. And now Hades' airship engine which also happened to be the unguarded source of all his powers.
. . .
Grimoire HEART. Get it? GET IT?! Genius! Mashimas next volume ships hundreds of thousands of copies in its first week
And bullshit nerfing or not, I'll never be able to take FT villain beatdowns seriously as long as they make expressions like Spiel the Pirate. Two hundred chapters in! Artstyle or not, you can't fear a villain who looks like he's about to hold up a sign saying "ouch".

For the record, that would be refreshing.
The minute I saw even "Fire-Fist" Ace of all people to be complaining about this chapter, I was too scared to read it.
Now we need Hincher and IMustang(you are a cool guy anyway… with all that spy stuff you do for us in the Funimation topic and all) to complain for once.
Holy FUCK that really did it! That was the fucking end of the fight!
I… I don't know what to say. I'm totally speechless.
What... what the fuck, man? Just what the fuck?
Grimore Hearts… Is light!
When you walk away. You will hear me say. Pleeeeeeeeesssse!
actually reads chapter
I… I just can't bring myself to say anything good about this chapter. At all. Except maybe the art, I suppose.
I'll give it until 250, if there's no dragon related plot or nothing extremely awesome i'll stop reading this shit.
You should stop reading now, this chapter was the proverbial cherry on the diarrhea sundae Mashima served you.
