Well that was unintentionally hilarious.
I'm sorry, but I think FT is just one of the funniest comedy series I've ever read. At least it isn't like that Bleach series…

I could not possibly see how this manga could get worse after LIGHTNIN FRUM DAGRON. 'Lo and behold. I felt every page of this chapter, but especially the last three, like knives in my groin. Like Mashima was watching, winking overtly, and
twistingthrusting in our general direction.
Warning PG13
!
Now we need Hincher and IMustang(you are a cool guy anyway… with all that spy stuff you do for us in the Funimation topic and all) to complain for once.
Ha ha thanks. I wish I could be more useful in that respect again, but they haven't called in my friend for work in over a year now. He pretty much assumes they're done with him so he's been working with whatever ADV is now and Anime Midstream.
You all know I'm a huge Fairy Tail fan, and I have very valid reasons for liking this series, but I'm not impervious to bad writing. This arc was 100% fine… that was, until about 3 chapters ago. Luxus showing up was one of the best things the series has done, and the fact he claimed he showed up just to give power to Natsu was just bad. Luxus is a great character on his own, and he just layed down to let Natsu absorb his power. Which yes, was bullcrap. Yes Natsu has been shown he can eat other magic with atherion, but still, this was the Golden Flame mk2, just a horrible powerup. Then Hades stood up, like the badass he is, and reminded them he's the best. But then this chapter... Hades's power coming from the core of a ship... the island putting itself back together... them all getting their power back (which wasn't taken from them in the first place)... yeah, this was a very anti-climatic ending. Hades was a great character, and still is, but the method they took him down was all wrong, the explanation for his defeat was all wrong, everything about this chapter was just... wrong.
So in short, I've loved this arc, even now I don't think less of it as a whole. But it had an extremely underwhelming conclusion and did poor justice to a great villain. Let's just see if they explain a few things better in the next couple of chapters, and please, please actually finish the S-Class Trial.
finish the S-Class Trial.
Mashima: Oh right, that, uh… EVERYBODY GETS PROMOTED CUZ THE GUILD HELPED BEAT UP GRIMOIRE HEART/HADES (except you dorainbalt, you loser government scum)
No offense dude but I'm gonna have to pick apart this post now. I have no quarrel with you per se but the terrible climax of this chapter has just made this big ball of hate inside me that I need to get out of me. If you wanna blame anyone, blame Mashima and his mean-spirited, soulless writing that drove me to this.
You all know I'm a huge Fairy Tail fan,
So how does it feel to like a terrible piece of crap?
and I have very valid reasons for liking this series,
"THE CHARACTERS ARE SO COOLZERS" and "THE ACTION IS SO AWESOME!!!" are not valid reasons.
but I'm not impervious to bad writing.
You could have fooled me.
This arc was 100% fine… that was, until about 3 chapters ago.
So the Capricorn fiasco, Zeref being one-shotted by a submissive Ultear, the 7 Kin being taken out like nothing, the tree bullshit, Ultear's water in a womb thing, Natsu shitting on his only piece of character development. None of these faze you?
Luxus showing up was one of the best things the series has done,
Albeit poorly-foreshadowed and completely out of nowhere.

I really don't get anyone who says Hades was a great villain. What was so great about him? He was an incredibly dull, generic one-note villain. His motivations were cliche (He wanted to take over the world, really original), his personality was non-existant outside of acting like a cocky old man, his smug attitude was moronic (his elite warriors were taken down by a bunch of rookies and he just laughs like it doesn't matter?) which quickly devolved into the generic deer in the headlights routine which is so pervasive in all Fairy Tail villains that find themselves in the slightest bit of trouble. His one piece of character development was shown in a flashback never to be referred to again. It's especially bad when he was supposed to be a former guild leader but that never went anywhere. He was just a one-note villain, no different from the rest of the schlock.
So in short, I've loved this arc, even now I don't think less of it as a whole. But it had an extremely underwhelming conclusion and did poor justice to a great villain. This arc was just one of a long line of disappointments courtesy of the scum soup manga known as Fairy Fail. And sadly it won't be the last.
Phew, I feel better now. Thanks for that.
That seems way too obvious, Pachylad… so it will probably happen.
That was abominable. Seriously, out of all the ways that Mashima could have ended this arc, this has to be one of the worst.
I'm fine with the heart explaining Hades' longetivity (he's well over a hundred yet he's healthier than Makarov and it doesn't seem like he aged a day in forty years, so something had to be up there), but there's still multiple problems with it:
-if all that the heart did was make Hades' life longer, why did destroying it remove all of his magic power?
-why was there absolutely nobody guarding the heart if it was so important?
-why was it out in the open, and so brittle that two cats (whose only magical power is flight; they have no offensive magic whatsoever) could destroy it?
The fact that the climax of the arc is Natsu and company beating on a defenseless old man just makes it worse.
This arc started out with promise - there was the convergence of two major recurring threats that had been built up over the course of the series (Zeref and Hades/Urtear), the revelation that two enemies who could nearly beat Gazille were just fodder, the potential for other members of the guild to get focus and development. Then all the fights get won by Natsu and company (aside from Rustyrose and Bluenote, though those fights were far too rushed for my liking), Zeref has no motivation to turn on Fairy Tail, and all of the members of Grimoire Heart were either defeated or turned good, even though it was strongly foreshadowed that Fairy Tail would lose in the middle of the arc. What's the point of bringing in two major recurring threats if both of them are going to be negated in one way or another by the end of the arc? (Zeref has no reason to fight Fairy Tail, and Hades was beaten)
I figured that Hades would easily withstand the last-ditch effort, take Zeref, and escape, allowing Zeref to actually be used as an arc villain later on. He'd have a reason to leave the guild members alive, seeing as he's a former master himself and he seemed to be apologetic for letting Bluenote go onto the island, so the main cast would be allowed to survive and grow stronger for their next encounter with Hades or Zeref. Instead, we got this mess.
Even in the beginning of the chapter, it seemed like Mashima might have set aside the status quo and allowed change to come to the story. When I saw that Natsu's punch had landed, I practically groaned. It seems like, on some level, he wants to change something, but he chickens out and doesn't go through with it in the end. Generally, I try to defend Fairy Tail. I enjoy reading it more than I do with Bleach or Naruto - it's like the manga equivalent of a popcorn flick. Just turn my brain off and read it, without worrying about how cliched it gets. Generally, in my opinion, that's not such a bad thing. But this was just too terrible for me to ignore.
Still better than Bleach, though.
Ummm.. Doesn't Utear's time magic not work on living things & isn't a tree a living thing?
Ummm.. Doesn't Utear's time magic not work on living things & isn't a tree a living thing?
Consistency.
The lost magic of Fairy Tail.
Ummm.. Doesn't Utear's time magic not work on living things & isn't a tree a living thing?
Was thinking the same shit.
actually reads chapter
I… I just can't bring myself to say anything good about this chapter. At all. Except maybe the art, I suppose.
I found 2 good things. Ultear's ass and Laxus standing up and punching the guy in the face.
My reaction for this crap.
!
It's just… beyond bullshit.
So a powerful mage like Hades, that was the leader of FT once, now needs a freaking "heart thing" to give him magic power, which, by the way, is so guarded that it's easily to sneak in and destroy it? And seriously, a Happy and Charlie' badass pose, seriously? You are shit compared to Lily.
Natsu who couldn't even stand up, gives Hades a punch, then begin to beat him? Then, suddenly Ultear's magic works with trees, isn't that a living begin? And then the magic power returns? "Have I, Hades, truly lost to Makarov?". No, you didn't, you lost to Natsu & co., shame on you! Though, I guess everything I wrote isn't new, everyone knows the fact that this is terrible.
But I liked 4 panels in this chapter. The ones with Lily and Laxus.
@No:
Consistency.
The lost magic of Fairy Tail.
Holy fuck I lol'd.
You can hardly say that Urtear's magic working on trees is something new.

Really, by a large margin, that's the least of the problems that you should be having with this chapter.
@Thousand:

Well lets hope you got it out of your system, if not I'm more than happy to oblige. Let's see what you've given me to work with, I can handle your Gear 2nd.
So how does it feel to like a terrible piece of crap?
Yeah you think Brotherhood was a bad anime adaption. Next.
"THE CHARACTERS ARE SO COOLZERS" and "THE ACTION IS SO AWESOME!!!" are not valid reasons.
Quote me saying that. C'mon, do it. Oh wait, you're making stuff up. I've explained my reasons before, and I'm not prepared to list them again so you have fodder to fuel your urge to bitch. Though I don't see why you need it, you're pretty good at coming up with your own stuff on a weekly basis. That's what the internet's for to you, somewhere to bitch. But don't go Gear 3rd yet I'm not done replying to these quotes.
You could have fooled me.
That's not hard to do with you is it?
So the Capricorn fiasco, Zeref being one-shotted by a submissive Ultear, the 7 Kin being taken out like nothing, the tree bullshit, Ultear's water in a womb thing, Natsu shitting on his only piece of character development. None of these faze you?
Oh now you're actually commenting on apart of my post with a relevant statement. Okay, I'll give you the curtsey of a proper reply. I'm afraid I don't understand what "fiasco" you're referring to with Capricorn. If you're saying it was some form of bullshit she automatically got him as a spirit, that was explained in his flashback that he became contracted to her upon her becoming a mage. There's no fallacy there. Zeref being one-shotted yes, that was stupid, but no it didn't have an effect on the formation of the arc and the important plot points. 7 Kin being taken out like nothing? Asuma beating several people including an S-Class and barely loosing to Erza, Rusty Rose majorly kicking ass against Elfman & Evergreen and showing some of the most hax magic we've ever seen, Natsu needing Makarov's help to defeat Zancrow, and Kain being powerful while still comedy relief didn't go down without a fight. They went down yes, easily no. No more so than an average manga that forces the good and bad guys to their limits. They were all pretty even fights, Melody was the only one that got beat easily and… does anyone care about her for real? Yes there were things I had problems with in this arc, like Bluenote and Rusty Rose getting one-paneled defeats. But it didn't hurt my opinion of the arc, I was still completely fine with it.
Albeit poorly-foreshadowed and completely out of nowhere.
I don't wanna be the ten-thousanth person to tell you not everything can be foreshadowed like Negima, and I honestly have no intention of bringing this subject with you again as you've made your feelings clear on it, but at least you sight that it was not a bad plot development so we can move on here.
Now see this is a simple matter of disagreement. What villains have ever gotten flashbacks that have given them a history with Fairy Tail? Gerard had a connection to Erza, but that was about it. He was set up in the beginning as powerful, being the leader of Grimore Heart. He defeated Makarov which isn't unimpressive in the slightest, and when they fought him he was completely in control and nothing they did phased him. He was powerful, in control, and was an important character to the plot. In short, he was just badass. But this is only my own opinion, if you don't care for these elements of his character that's your choice. Not everyone likes everyone lol, but I enjoy him for these reasons.
This arc was just one of a long line of disappointments courtesy of the scum soup manga known as Fairy Fail. And sadly it won't be the last.
Yes, you've made it perfectly clear you don't like Fairy Tail. You make it clear every week, we get it. Why you still read is beyond me, I'm assuming to have reasons to bitch on a weekly basis so perhaps people will take notice of you. I mean yeah I hate Naruto, I think it's the worst thing I've ever read and I'm still reading it. Why? I've got my reasons. Point is, you don't see me coming online just to complain about it in the thread (which hilariously is also the Bleach thread now lol). Why you feel the need to, that's your business. That's why I don't try to argue any of your posts; you don't like it, fine. But no amount of complaining is going to ruin one of my favorite series.
Phew, I feel better now. Thanks for that.
Whatever works for you, in the future I'd appreciate it if you actually stayed on topic and actually attempted to point out more flaws you think you've found in my post than attempting to mock me over random sentences in it. Not only does finding random things to bitch about or attempting to insult me on make you look extremely childish, but it just shows you're trying to hard. But that's all I have to say on this matter, I'll probably be mocked in another thread for seriously replying to you in the first place, but that was my choice and I have to live with it. Reply to me if you want, but if it's to anything other than my two relevant paragraphs, don't expect a response. And don't worry, I have no quarrels with you either.
TLC quit being a dick.

huh what about me?
but as for chapter, better than i hoped a few chapters back. i'll take a bs heart over the good guys somehow winning through sheer determination
don't get why so many of you guys are constantly so surprised and pissed off when fairy tail wins. they ALWAYS do, we have no reason to suspect there won't be some bullshit victory, so why are you guys ALWAYS surprised.
Honestly, is there a reason for me to keep reading this shit?

The awful execution and writing of the story is what surprises us, because we don't think it can get worse but it does.
EDIT: Am I the only who thinks the last page dialogue "This is our guild" can be easily replaced as "This is bullshit" ? Seems like it would fit.
The bad thing about this chapter is many people already predicted, exactly what Hades HEART was meant for, and Mashima fed us that. I mean is cool to predict certain things, before they actually happen, some make the plot good, while others for the worst for example in.
**OP – many predicted that luffy would come out of megalo’s mouth, when it did happen, it was actually hilarious.
Bleach – Rukia turning out to be the mystery shinigami, totally a let down, all for boost rating.
FT – Heart cheap way to bring an end to the most powerful villain thus far.** So those that mean lightening guy will rejoin, he sure is acting like an outsider.
I was actually surprise that natsu flying punch made connection, I thought
Hades would just blast him away.
I really didn’t want to judge this arch as a whole, but since it seem like, where at an end, I have to say Mashima let me down, I guess I can’t have higher expectation from him, turn he proves me wrong.
GH – I expected more well more
If someone would have told me that GH, were one the darkest guild in FT, I would have not believed it.
Azuma was the only decent fighter out all of them
The only thing that needs to be resolve is the whole zeref thing.
Why did their magic power return again? and why was the "weakpoint" Hades had exposed like that and was not better guarded?
The only thing that needs to be resolve is the whole zeref thing.
There's nothing to resolve regarding Zeref, he joins Fairy Tail as the death Dragon Slayer and they have to protect him from the 10 holy mages, council and army etc next arc.
Why did their magic power return again? and why was the "weakpoint" Hades had exposed like that and was not better guarded?
There was a lot of bulls**** apulling in not only this chapter, but in the entire arc. I kept reading because of the story tidbit about Gildartz, the black dragon, natsu and Igneel but this s* is too lame.
If the lightning and flame crap was supposed to excite me, it didn't, and the emotional stuff with Laxus was not interesting at all. his entrance was awesome but when he turned the fight over to natsu and went out of character I was like OMGWTFBBQ.
Actually, come to think of it…
There have been a lot of arcs with the whole "destroy the one thing that keeps this thing moving" as a major plot point, haven't there? Phantom's Super Mage Giant Phantom Mk II... Nirvana's lacryma, Edoras' Dragon Chain Cannon. And now Hades' airship engine which also happened to be the unguarded source of all his powers.
. . .
OK I read Fairy Tail, even enjoy it. But I don't remember a single thing of what you just listed. It's like I read a chapter/arc and it completely vanishes from my memory when it ends. Hmmmm sign of its blandness I guess.
So this arc has 50 chapters so far. When did it start going downhill in your opinion? in what chapter?
Oh now you're actually commenting on apart of my post with a relevant statement. Okay, I'll give you the curtsey of a proper reply. I'm afraid I don't understand what "fiasco" you're referring to with Capricorn. Yes there were things I had problems with in this arc, like Bluenote and Rusty Rose getting one-paneled defeats. But it didn't hurt my opinion of the arc, I was still completely fine with it.
The Capricorn fiasco is the convoluted plot twist with Capricorn secretly being good but he was possessed and then Leo got possessed and then somehow got unpossessed all in the space of one chapter which I still can't make heads or tails of. And yes, the 7 Kin were taken out like bitches. Think of the Shickibukai, could you imagine Oda handling them so callously? These uber elite fighters who should have been far beyond our protagonists' level. Where a couple of fodder turned Gazille into a mess? That they could fight on level let alone win? Natsu frickin' beat one whilst trapped under a rock for crying out loud. All their defeats were badly executed relying on convoluted magic and plot points that was poorly explained, unconvincing change of hearts or the power of friendship!!! They went out easily and pathetically and you really need to read more manga if you think that is the limit an author can take a fight. Freakin' Naruto handled fights against far stronger enemies better. And I see you conveniently ignored my other points.
I don't wanna be the ten-thousanth person to tell you not everything can be foreshadowed like Negima, and I honestly have no intention of bringing this subject with you again as you've made your feelings clear on it, but at least you sight that it was not a bad plot development so we can move on here.
Yeah…are you actually implying foreshadowing is an unnecessary thing and a waste of time? Because that would be silly.
Now see this is a simple matter of disagreement. What villains have ever gotten flashbacks that have given them a history with Fairy Tail? Gerard had a connection to Erza, but that was about it. He was set up in the beginning as powerful, being the leader of Grimore Heart. Getting a flashback means nothing if it's not expanded upon. Then it's just a waste of time. The simple fact of the matter is that Hades being the former guild master went nowhere. It could have been omitted entirely for all the effect it had on the plot. We didn't even get some sort of conflict with Natsu having to protect his guild against a former master. he was just another enemy to "PROTECT THE GUILD" from. Shallow, superficial aspects like acting cocky and badass do not a character make.
Whatever works for you, in the future I'd appreciate it if you actually stayed on topic and actually attempted to point out more flaws you think you've found in my post than attempting to mock me over random sentences in it. Nah, s'cool bragh. I just had this big ball of hate you know. That's what Fairy Tail does to me. Causes this rage to build inside me and innocent bystanders get hurt. It's alright now.
So this arc has 50 chapters so far. When did it start going downhill in your opinion? in what chapter?
Definitely when Natsu beat Zancrow. It's the point where he shat on his first bit of character development ever after all and the first of the poor 7 Kin fights that were a prelude of what was to come.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
TLC quit being a dick.
Oh and I think this chapter is why I have a hard time trying to read FT.
It's not me Jay. It's Fairy Tail. It DOES things to me. Things I end up regretting.
Why did their magic power return again?
Okay, THIS is a problem. It's one thing to have odd or frustrating plot points (Hades having his power source guarded by fodder), but just blatantly not paying attention and then calling it out is extremely frustrating. Ultear restored the Tenrou tree that Asuma had destroyed. This tree enhanced the magic of the Fairy Tail members and kept them from dying. With it fully restored, their magic was fully energized again.

Fairy Tail is not an excuse for being unnecessarily dickish to iMustang who, although I don't exactly agree with in this case, at the very least explained his thoughts about it eloquently and very politely, even in responding to what is essentially attacking him over a matter of disagreement.
It's ultimately none of my business considering I only read Fairy Tail on occassion and am not caught up, but I just wanted to point out that despite Fairy Tail's, erm, "quality", does not give an excuse to be a dick to someone who disagrees.

It ain't me baby. It's the pain talking!!!
All I feel is pain
Yeah, that's what I'm about
You hear it every time that I talk
All I got is pain
I'm going insane, I feel it in my veins
All I got is pain
If you wondering why I'm not smilin'
It's because I can't hide it (Feel it, baby)
All I got is pain

How people still attempt to make justifications for all the crappy things that happen during each and every arc even tohugh they get progressively worse still makes laugh. How Natsu managed to misconstrue a lesson like "sometimes it's okay to run" into what actually happened has got to be the worst thing that happened throughout this whole disaster. This ending is a close second.
Meh still it's more of the same, lol Fairy Tail.
TL-c regrets something? This is the biggest twist in the topic.
TL-c regrets something? This is the biggest twist in the topic.
It's the pain, man. It's like a drug, a psychedelic.
An effervescing elephant
With tiny eyes, and great big trunk
Once whispered to the tiny ears
The ears of one inferior
That by next June he’d die, oh yeah!
Because the tiger would roam
And the little one said oh my goodness I must stay at home
And every time I hear a growl
I’ll know the tiger’s on the prowl
but I’ll be really safe you know
The elephant he told me so
And everyone was nervy, oh yeah!
And the message was spread!
this was honestly one of the worst arcs in manga history
what a piece of shit
fuck you, Hiro Mashima
the strongest villain in the series was defeated by two talking kittens
If the ratings go down this week, next week expect some massive fanservice.
Good things about this chapter. The cats blew up an airship and Wendy did something other then her dragon roar. But overall this is how I felt about this chapter and final fight.
!
TLC quit being a dick.
Oh and I think this chapter is why I have a hard time trying to read FT.
Agreed with you on both counts.
TLC, why do you feel this need to be an asshole at least once a month? Do you need, absolutely need, everyone to hate FT and the other series you don't like. Does it make your life better in some way? Do people liking your hated series in some way harm you? What I'm basically saying is: It shouldn't matter. I feel like people should express their honest opinions and not be treated badly for what they feel. Granted I would prefer them to have legit reasons for their opinions but that's neither here nor there.
What I'm getting at here is do you need everyone's opinions to completely assimilate with your own. Do you need everyone to hate Fairy Tail and love Negima, which is your favorite series, the series you love more than life itself (Don't pretend it isn't true. "2nd favorite series". Like Hell.) What matters is that you have your own opinions, and you have your own personal favorite series. If other people show an interest in those series than I can understand being glad that they're interested because you hope they get nearly the experience you got from them. And if they like you're hated series than if you feel an ever pressing need to argue with them about how "YOUR SERIES IS CRAP!!!" Than be just halfway decent about it. Don't be so fuckin' mean-spirited dude.
Btw my post isn't particularly original I've basically just regurgitated a post by Robby somewhere in about page 18 of the Avaturd thread. A post he directed at TLC. You'd think he would've learned by now to be just a little respectful of diverse opinions. Guess not. Not exactly surprising he's not that popular.
First they say Wendy can't fight…then they say she can only damage with her roar...and now she's doing the fing dragon wing, enough with the bulls already.
Eurgh. Crimson Explosion Lightning Blade?
Why can't Mashima actually create good technique names and not horrible ones like that. I thought he'd got over it after what was it…like LOTUS TORNADO FIRE DRAGON FIST or something like that.
Other than that, friendship saves the day. Woo : |
...Maybe the next arc will be better? Right guys? RIGHT?

...Maybe the next arc will be better? Right guys? RIGHT?
Hmm. How should I respond to this? Well let's just say it's about as likely as Buggy the Clown defeating Luffy, Mihawk, Rayleigh, Shanks, Akainu etc. and becoming Pirate King. That should be your answer.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
This is awful.

Oh, new Fairy Tail Cha..Oh, god. Oh god.
(too graphic?)
Natsu is in random powerup heaven. He's joined ichigo in the hall of shame.
TLC hates everything, you should see the fuming in the Bakuman thread because someone broke into a bank vault in a realistic manga.
He's just an angry person on the inside

How people still attempt to make justifications for all the crappy things that happen during each and every arc even tohugh they get progressively worse still makes laugh. How Natsu managed to misconstrue a lesson like "sometimes it's okay to run" into what actually happened has got to be the worst thing that happened throughout this whole disaster. This ending is a close second.
Meh still it's more of the same, lol Fairy Tail.
Apparently, FT has it's own section on NF.
And so far I've yet to see one person there who generaly liked this chapter.
If the ratings go down this week, next week expect some massive fanservice.
Hahahahahahaha this is truth.
Another terrible end to a FT arc.
this was honestly one of the worst arcs in manga history
what a piece of shit
fuck you, Hiro Mashima
the strongest villain in the series was defeated by two talking kittens
Did you see how Hiro buttfucked the strongest villain in Rave ?
The guy literaly killed all of his soldiers…..for no reason and this super aliance with another evil assasin group and four demon lords and the man with the most powerfull mage in the world.....kinda crumbled before it even started. :getlost:
