So when's the next chapter comming out?
Fairy Taint Discussion II
-
-
@No:
He just barely defeated Zancrow and got knocked out , while saying how he'll challenge the man who literaly bitchslaped his own master with ease.
So as far as "knowing when to retreat" goes…....yeah, nothing remains.
You have to take natsu's character into account, he's not the type to just run away. The only way he'd run is if the enemy he's fighting kept on whooping his ass. Natsu is more hard headed than Vegeta.
@Fire Fist:
Is it just me or does Togashi drastically improve his art when he does a tanko cover?
The Fairy Tail cover's color scheme is more than likely a homage to this. I think Mashima said once he was a big H X H fan… I do know he's a ridiculously big Monster Hunter fan.
Togashi is not a bad artist, honestly he's one of the better artists in jump IMO regardless of what people think.
-
yeah, at least vegeta knew when he was beat.
i remember when his full power (at the time) did jack shit to freeza, and vegeta lost his will to fight and shed a tear.
Natsu would be all "i'm just not trying hard enough! TOMORROW'S MAGIC, GO!" -
^ Well, hey. If it works for Natsu, why do any different? Lol, he does always end up winning, ya know.
Except for the Gildartz fight.
-
Togashi is not a bad artist, honestly he's one of the better artists in jump IMO regardless of what people think.
Yeah, but compared to consistent people like Mashima (who, for all his faults, is a terrific artist) and Oda, he tends to get sloppy sometimes. Even Kishimoto has semi-decent art when he tries (Which, lately, he hasn't). Togashi isn't a bad artist by any means, but there are times in Hunter X Hunter where it's a very rough sketch and Gon or Killua looks like he just slapped them down and went about his business.
Also, I got bored waiting for the new chapter so I made and colored a new Avatar and Sig.
-
Fairy Tail is not in the Jump

Natsu would be all "i'm just not trying hard enough! TOMORROW'S MAGIC, GO!"And this is exactly what he did. He was nearly beaten to unconsciousness and just barely defeated one of Hades' underlings, and even though he saw how he whooped the ass of his own master, a mage far superior in magic and experience, he stil declared he is going to take Hades' head right now.
I rest my case.
-
^ Well, hey. If it works for Natsu, why do any different?
seriously? just because it works for him thanks to Mashima's small-minded writing, it's justified?
Lol, he does always end up winning, ya know.
how does this justify the repetetive and bland writing?
We know that Natsu and company will never lose, so where's the tension?
it's always "huff i'm not giving up… ASSPULL NO JUTSU!! (his power increases rapidly and they beat the bad guy)"even dragonball allowed its characters to lose. goku fucking died in the first volume of DBZ lol.
-
Are'nt they losing like right now?
As for the Gildartz fight lesson thing, you guys are stating that a possible plot element that was introduced has been forgotten - before this arc is even finished.Never mind the possibilty that it would be used in a future arc.
This is way jumping the gun at best. -
just realised that it's monday where the hell is the new chapter? they usually come out at the weekend.
-
Bland and boring as hell…
-
Ew…..............................................................

This is way jumping the gun at best.I'm not saying it's been forgotten,
I just think it's insincere for Mashima to have Natsu learn that lesson and then brazenly toss it aside so soon, suggesting that hey, Natsu-as-usual is fine anyway, because he took out Zancrow soon after.
If the end of the arc surprises me, then good! The great thing about thinking the Fairy Tail is going to go the safe route without any real twists is that if I'm wrong, the story is better for it.
-
Mashima tries to make an interesting and daring move only to reject it in the most bland way - all in the volume of a single chapter.
-
Sigh, this really is the worst chapter of the arc. I knew Caprico would join up eventually, but didn't think it would turn out so soon and so shitty. Why couldn't he be his own bad guy, why does he need someone else to be evil for him…
-
This horrible chapter makes Mashima look like a jerk.
-
Wasted potencial.
"When everyone gets drunk its fun, but it's also "a pain". " That souds wrong
-
Didn't mind this chapter, he actually explained what happened, I though he would make that happen later though, he could build up this a little more, I didn't dislike the chapter though.
-

Couldn't describe it better myself.
Terrible chapter.
-
Wait…he was actually...and then they...because he...and then everyone went...
...
Yeah, that was pretty bad. Maybe if this lasted another chapter, it wouldn't have come out like that, but once again Mashima's brisk pacing bites him in the ass for the...I don't know...umpteenth time now.
-
Eh..what? I don't get it. sad face
-
@Thousand:
Couldn't describe it better myself.
Terrible chapter.
Isn't being forced to fight your friend a cliche in and of itself, though? Regardless of what happened, you would have found something to complain about.
-
Looks like Mashima tried a Ginyuu attempt, tought it'd be too hard to develop, then decided to ass pull an attack that will give him the chance to move forward.
-
Isn't being forced to fight your friend a cliche in and of itself, though? Regardless of what happened, you would have found something to complain about.
Cliches aren't bad so long as they're executed well.
The problem with this chapter wasn't cliches so much as it was…I don't even know what the hell this was.
Quit picking at straws, this was an awful chapter period.
-
I like Loke and all, but everything in that chapter just came completely out of nowhere.
I had to read it a few more times to actually understand what the hell was going on.
-
why such the hatred on this chapter, i liked it
the only complaint and it be a small one is the total cliche "will you give your power to lucy comment" but can't fault fairy tail on that, everything does that, books, movies, games, ect. hell even one piece has times when it does similar.
-
wow, that was awfully fast. What happened to building suspense before solving an issue?
-
Isn't being forced to fight your friend a cliche in and of itself, though? Regardless of what happened, you would have found something to complain about.
Ofc they would but thats not what they meant, like I said the chapter didn't bother me, I do think it was stupid to end this now, Mashima should have builded it up and do this at the final battle perhaps.
I doubt people are whining about the fight but actually about the outcome and even though I and pretty much everyon prbably knew this would be the outcome just like with any other spirit in the manga, it didn't have to end this soon.
Once again it didn't bother me though, I wish it didn't go this way but I won't say its a bad chapter for the sake of that.
I pretty much have been whining the entire arc and I didn't find this chapter bad, a little stupid but not bad, stupid for the reasons I said above, Mashima just passing up a good oportunity and rush it, thus ruining a possible better future moment.
-
This chapter…I don't even really understand what happened.
Capricorn was the bad guy, only he wasn't.
New guy was the bad guy and he tried to posses Loke, but was saved by Capricorn who is good now.
New bad guy then vanishes without a trace.Whaaaaaaa?
-

a steller spirit mage somehow managed to possess his steller spirit capricorn. Somehow guessing made his own spirit leave his body and enter capricorn.
thus he was in control of capricorns body, like say Greed took over Lings body in Fullmetal alchemist.
Leo possibly proved to be stronger, or else the guy wanted to just have a human looking body adn not a goat one. eitehr way he was transfering to leo's body. Leo noticed this and thus instead of attacking capricorn and damaging him he instead basically infused him with power. thus when capricorn was "FREE" he was not beaten and at full power and thus proceeded to "kill" leo. But a steller spirit doesn't die, they just go back to their spirit world, but it "KILLED" the mage inside of leo.
Capricorn was ALWAYS a good guy, he was just being controlled. And he was ALWAYS Lucy's spirit, he just as above was controlled and thus not able to be so.
How was this chapter confusign to anyone?
-
This chapter reminded me of the grand finally of Seigfried vs. Haja in RAVE. Only those who have read RAVE would understand what i'm talking about.
Over all this chapter was decent not bad or terrible, mashima's pulled off terrible chapters before like Gerards ressurection for example.
Also I have discovered why mashima is super fast with his story arcs. The mofo has been jacked up on coffee, he says so himself in one of his ramblings.
@FFA: have you seen the tankobon releases of HxH? cause honestly I don't go by an authors weekly chapter since they all edit and fix up there chapters for Tankobon releases.
-
Capricorn was ALWAYS a good guy, he was just being controlled. And he was ALWAYS Lucy's spirit, he just as above was controlled and thus not able to be so.
i'm sorry but is this development already been establish or said in the manga before? :wassat:
-
i'm sorry but is this development already been establish or said in the manga before? :wassat:
If last chapter counts as rushed foreshadowing than yes.
-
i'm sorry but is this development already been establish or said in the manga before? :wassat:
has there EVER been an evil or bad steller spirit?
the steller spirits do as they are told, and are seen as evil or good depending on who controlls them. and in all instance so far in this manga whenever lucy beats a bad steller spirit mage, the mages are happy to be with lucy.
if that isn't an established base for you, i don't know what it.
-
This whole event just went waaaaaay too fast.
It feels like we just skimmed through half an arcs worth of story in one chapter. -
I liked where that story was going but it concluded way too quick. That could've bee played out the next 3 chaps or whenever Mashima would've got back to that group.
Plus the lil comedic end with Grey was almost like he was mocking the S-Class challenge in a snide way to let the fans know if I even do get back to that I'll definitely do some bullshit to choose the winner.
-
This chapter was amazing on quite a few levels. I'm kind of curious who either Aquarius or Cancer were passed down to if not Lucy. I'm guessing Capricorn was her first since Aquarius seems to dislike her, whereas Cancer treats her with great respect. And poor Gray… his partner just leaving him like that and seeing him freak out XD. And I loved the plot revelation that Capricorn was being controlled; it gave him a really good backstory and I loved this spread of him being awesome: http://mangastream.com/read/fairy_tail/60137963/13
So it looks like this is the chart of the battles between FT and GM (winner in bold):
Makarov vs Hades
Natsu vs Zancrow
Mirajane vs Asuma
Elfman & Evergreen vs Rusty Rose
Loki vs Capricorn (bolded cause this is technically a FT victory)
Erza and Juvia vs MeledyFT members not currently in fights: Gray, Kana, Lucy (and Lisanna & Levi if they're okay out there).
GM members not currently in fights: Ultear, Kain.If Erza wins, which I'm sure she will, that will make it an even 3-3. I'm guessing Kana and Lucy will fight Kain, and Gray will fight Ultear. This arc could go anywhere, I'm loving it so much!
-
And so Grey is jobbed out of the exam.
Nice work Mashima.
-
This chapter was awful.
So much wasted potential.

This is actualy very reminescent of that scientist who controled Haja, apeared out of him after he died and then was instantly owned out of the story.

I enjoyed this chapter. I don't see what's so hard to understand about it. The reason Zoldeo vanished in his own body is easy to understand: Atrophy. Think about it. Anyone who has ever had an injury that has immobilized an entire limb would understand that if a body part isn't used after a period of time, even a few weeks, it becomes very weak and its physical strength has to be rebuilt. I find it extremely hard to believe that none of you have ever had physical therapy… there has to be at least one reader here who has broken an arm, or a leg, or something, and after it healed gone through the painful process of rehabilitating it. And if it was that bad for a single limb, can you imagine having to rehabilitate your entire body? After 20 years? Yeah... it doesn't happen. You'd die... which is essentially what Zoldeo did.
Second, people with possession magic are often weak in their own bodies, anyway. The whole reason they use possession magic in the first place is to find a much stronger host to use and exploit said host to tap into their much superior power. If their own bodies were superior, do you really think they'd bother switching bodies in the first place?
Third, Loke's power was established to be mainly from Regulus from the beginning. To say that he couldn't loan some of his power to Capricorn through it is ridiculous.
So, the chapter was perfectly fine and understandable. It does, however, bring up a loose end... if Zoldeo got Capricorn, who got Cancer and Aquarius? Obviously, if Lucy had both of these spirits since the beginning of the series, she met with both of these individuals and presumably trained in Stellar Spirit Magic with them. That would mean that at least one of them is a powerful summoner, too.
-
Oh most folks are just mad cause they felt it was a cop out.
I'll admit it was a clumsy twist but considering the rest of the Kin are owning the heroes. I didn't mind this victory so much. So I'll give it a "good not great". I'm guessing either big head or the moe girl is up next.

possible they are just normal good hearted steller spirit mages like lucy.
and possible that same contract was built into their's as well. meaning when lucy decided to become a mage they handed keys over like good people.
but yea don't get why people hate on chatper. and also find it funny at others saying how he should have drawn it out for a few chapters. oh yea, lets turn this into bleach. only thing drawing it out woudl have done is had some pointless long bloody battle with the same end result. why waste 2-3 chapters on that?
@Retro:Oh most folks are just mad cause they felt it was a cop out.

how is it a cop-out? we leaerned what capricorn is last chapter, and this chapter he is beaten. hiro obviously had this planned since he introduced this goat guy, who ended up being capricorn.
seems to me people are mad because they wanted some long bloody battle. otherwise besides that i can't see how anything bad happened this chapter. we learned all we needed to learn, it was solved, battle ended, leo won. lucy got her spirit. we learned the mom/capricorn relationshipo and also learned others relationship with mom or hinted at. then we end with a joke about how one guy is pissed cause his partner left him. i mean in the midst of this HUGE deadly crisis gray is throwing a fit over loki not able to finish the test iwth him, lol.
-
I think ppl's main problems is the wasted potential that was just presented in this chapter. Not if Zoldeo dying made sense, or if Leo could lend Capricorn power.
The Zoldeo possessing Leo angle was good and should've been stretched out a lil longer imo. Not the battle but the situation itself and how other characters would be involved. Like the way Zoldeo was plotting once in Leo's body. It didn't even have to to be Lucy right away. He could've met other FT members.
But if everybody but Hades (and maybe Zeref) is going to be defeated how Zoldeo and Zancrow(if he really was officially defeated and doesn't return for another good fight) were this'll be another average arc.
-
Well okay we knew Capricorn had to become a good guy sometime and I will say him being possesed is a good enough way to explain how he can be bad and then suddenly become good. However I agree that it was too fast, he should of had Leo possesed for longer, build up the tension a little more.
That sub-plot does'nt look finished to me, I think Zoldeo will return later in the story.
This brings up the question of what Capricorn's ability actually is.
@Retro:I'm guessing either big head or the moe girl is up next.
Judging from 'tear' it's gonna be about Ultear.

so you wish Leo sucked?
you guys are mad because leo did a brilliant move and basically brought capricorn to full power right before he was taken over? Leo saw he was goign to be possessed and thus gave another spirit the power to beat himself.
we got to see as you said the guy think about what evil plots he was going to do, yet we had Leo come out and pull a brililant move. and you guys are mad that leo was smart and didn't get owned?
would you have prefered we get a repeat of demon island, where the puppet lady had control of lucy's spirits? so we have another instance where lucy's LOVE for her spirits somehow wins him over and lets Leo overcome his host. trust me, that shit would have happened if leo didn't win here.
-

Yeah, that's what I was asking about above too. This is true though, it opens a potential for a new character. Lucy could've had a teacher or something that passed the key onto her. They're definitely planning on going somewhere with this; in just the last two chapters they've set up a few revelations that can lead to plot points down the line.
I have a feeling when we learn the full history of Lucy's mom and the dragons, we'll see some epic battle scene with all 12 of the zodiac spirits.
Edit: And I wouldn't necessarily say Gray's out of the trial yet. He's certainly at a disadvantage but I wouldn't say he's completely out of it yet. Though we all know he's not gonna win :P lol
-
Wait, unless Capricorn's ability is to somehow absorb other's abilities upon impact? Or am I giving the author too much credit?
