Animated strawhat coverstories vs. manga

So, the anime is currently doing the 2nd series of strawhat coverstories. And they added some stuff that seems extremely important that to my knowledge was not included in the manga cover story.

For example, the island of weatheria is "sailing" towards the Sabaody Archipelago. The guy nami is with has a ship that can fly and land on islands.
It seems like oda is feeding toei information for the strawhat episodes. What do you guys think?

It also seems like the animated cover stories are going into detail on how each strawhat will end up getting back to sabaody.

yes but toei is going way in depth with it implying that nami will use that ship to get back to sabaody and showing her probable new power ups to the clima tact.

I think Oda gives them a little bit of info, and then Toei does the rest. Oda has to give them something to work with, though.

True, its probable, if not likely, that Toei has gotten some info from Oda. At the same time though, alot of what Toei is adding can easily be undone in case it conflicts with anything.

Yeah i liked Nami short but Franky's sucked atleast in my opnion, in the manga we see him runing from the animals with his normal clothes, in the anime he kicks the animal asses save the kid and the dog and goes with him to Vegapunk lab i didnt like it at all and Franky is my 2nd favourite SH so i was a little pissed at it.

453 covered Nami and Franky. 454 will have Sanji and Chopper, 455 Robin and Usopp, and 456 Brook and Zoro.

Nami's story was pretty basic. Basically Weatheria is moving, very slowly, towards Sabaody, Nami and Harudas go down to that desert land to provide rain, and afterwards Nami decides to stay on Weatheria for the rest of the voyage to study the weather science.

Franky's involved him being fed tea instead of cola and turning him into a gentleman. The kid who was with the dog that found him thought he was much cooler before, so he dumps him in the middle of the forest of cyborg animals so that he can recover his ''wild side''. The animals beat up on Franky for a bit, then the tea in his fridge starts to boil and he turns back to normal and beats up all of the animals. Then he and the boy go to Vegapunk's lab so that they can brew some cola, but when they get inside they set off an alarm, and something starts to approach them, and the episode ends with Franky going ''What the hell is that?''

No, someone (thank you!) posted the short teaser from the end of the live feed from Japan for next week's episode. For whatever reason, it never gets added to the episode posted on Funi's site when they post the subbed eps.

In it there were a lot of quick shots with a lot of different images that went by very fast, so in truth its hard to really tell what's happening. We did, however, get to see a closeup of Sanji's face in full color, as well as an image of some big okana shown only in shadow, which may be mysterious or ominous, as well as Sanji's leg and foot kicking something really hard. What any of that is remains to be seen.

We only have to wait a week to find out what really happens, though, so we're good.

That was pretty interesting. I'm sure certain elements of it were absolutely cannon such as Vegapunk being "odd" and creating the cyborg animals before he left. Can't wait for the rest, it seems like the crew could get reunited any chapter now.

Correct. What's more is that back at Enies Lobby we pretty much saw that Franky could freak out after being powered with Tea (which was when he was yelling at Chopper giving him tea instead of Cola). The entire thing was Toei filler crap as it's worst.

The Nami part however I agree that was done nicely. It all seemed to have made plausible sense which makes me doubt Toei had complete creative control over it.

Im fearing they will screw up Sanji's short a lot also but Chopper seemed pretty basic in the cover story so they shouldnt screw it up but ill need to see to believe.

Whatever they do with Sanji's, I hope they properly convey the idea that Sanji isn't actually an okama and that he's just dressing like that either because he was forced or he just wanted to make them stop chasing him around.

I very much enjoyed the Sanji side story episode part that they did back in the fall. That was just priceless. Even though I knew it was coming, I had not read the manga so I did not know what the transvestites actually looked like. lol

How can Toei, with a very basic concept done by Oda, make those horrible filler like episodes? Saving the little Kid? Chopper meeting a baby bird? seriously?..

About Nami, I really will wait for the SH to get back before even think about Oda feeding up Toei with plot related info.

Yeah, this is the problem with this argument, which I have seen proposed several times here by various people. There have been quite a few covers (adorable as they may be) of random animal/SH combos–even one with Vivi and Iguram's wife, fer cryin' out loud. Oda has had the time to let us know more, and is being cagey reasons only he feels he can know for the moment. Remember, we're talking about a man who is a master at creating tension and suspense, here. That said, I hope very sincerely that he does help Toei so they don't create plot holes so huge the entire character roster falls through, and that is a prime reason why its important for the series to have such a huge gap between it and where the Manga is. They can in many cases know what is coming ahead of time since it'd be out in the Manga already. Of course this isn't one of those times, but I believe there have been many other times it has been the case, and it is a solid reason why there is a need for filler.

I'd say its highly likely she would want to up her game before they all meet up again. After all they were decimated by Kuma, Kizaru and Sentoumaru.

Considering that Franky clearly wears his Sabaody shirt while fighting the animals aswell as him arriving at Vegapunks house alone in Oda's coverstory (which is totally from what Toei did) I dare say that they've simply fucked up on the entire tea thing.

What dan said. The entire crew has been raped. Just as dimwit Luffy came to understand that his crew might be safe a smart character like Nami must have come to the same conlusion. Also she must come to the conclusion that she can improve her fighting skills if she stays at Weatheria a little bit longer. It's not like she uses as skill that has hundreds of spots in the world where it can be imroved.

In the manga he does something so quickly we can't see what it is, but it results in the man eating plant being wrapped up in vines. Whereas in the anime he's shown throwing a bomb inside it.

I wonder if Oda suggested that to keep this new skill a surprise for the manga? Or it's just a mistake on Toei's part.

During the Luffy vs Blueno fight, in the manga it's pretty obvious that Luffy grabs him by the collar and PULLS him into a slab of stone.
In the anime, Blueno somehow manages to fly next to it, after which Luffy quite retardedly puts in a close range punch. About 1/100th as badass.

No, that's quite clearly Lufy hitting him and blood is coming out.

You can see his fingers on the fist connecting with Blueno's face. If he was holing Blueno's collar, you wouldn't be able to see anything beyond his palm.

Unless Luffy's grabbing a coagulated turd of blood in front of Blueno's chin while punching him, that's his collar. The finger marks you see are reflections on the fabric of his clothes.
Also, check the continuation of the fight. No blood shown at all until Luffy goes Gear 2 and hits Blueno with a Jet Pistol.

Edit: Correcting myself, Blueno is spitting a few driplets of blood during the next panels. But meh, this is what I believe anyway. If you think he's punching him, feel free to!
