Ha, exactly. If they start dubbing in Fall then the DVDs would come out really slowly.
Unless there is something other than season 4 to release.
He said the only reason they weren't in the booth yet was because they already have so much recorded.
IE: It'll be a tad less than a year before Season 3 finishes its DVD run, meaning we have a while until they have to have the DVDs ready for Season 4.
Its now just practical scheduling rather than a Rights issue.

I'm sooooo looking forward to Water 7 by them. I Finally got to catch up with their DVD releases thanks to the rightstuff promo. Haven't preordered anything yet though.

Didn't wana say too much to wait for when we put the interview up, But when I asked him that he said he wasn't positive, but he thinks G8 begins Season 4. Which would line up perfectly with everything else we know.
Like CN ordering the show in 52 episode blocks (104 episodes, by 4kids numbering, being Seasons 1-2, eps 143-195 being another 52 exactly)
And then the fact that CN Australia aired up to 195 and then stopped, meaning that was the end of the ordered season.
Although, he said FUNi might restructure the lines between the seasons for the DVD release. But that really raises another issue.
With CN no longer ordering One Piece, there really aren't any more "Seasons" being ordered. So, from now on, we should be going by what episodes are being worked on rather than "Seasons", as FUNi will now get to make up the seasons however they want now.

Don't know, probably later this week. And I didn't really squeeze all that much out of him, just that he's pretty sure G8 Starts Season 4, that FUNi still might redraw that line for the DVDs, and that work on the series is well into "the early 200s".
Ok, just sent the video to Mike for him to review and when he gives the go-ahead, we can release it.
Also asked for clarification on a few things so we know we aren't getting him in trouble with anything.
I'd hate for his comments to be written off later as another "Bad Sushi" thing XP

From what Zach was saying in the live podcast, it sounds like we're still unclear about the widescreen/fullscreen issue. Oh well. Knowing they are writing the scripts for the early 200's is enough to put me at ease.
Interesting. It would be best, I'd think, for G8 to end Season Three. Of course, this doesn't matter as much if Toei only hands out the full screen masters to these episodes…

Pretty sure that's AU's broadcast since the US broadcast never made it that far. If it were the US version, it would've been "King Eneru" rather than "God".

If they don't get the Widescreen masters, won't sections of the picture be cut off to fit into a 4:3 aspect ratio? I think that a lot of people won't buy the sets if part of the picture gets cut off.
We can judge it this way: If other countries did not get the widescreen masters, then we most likely won't either. Why would we be the exception? Although, it would be nice if we were.
so where are these people that wouldn't buy any dvd's because they all KNEW that funimation won't make any money and will stop making one piece dvd's soon
i remember so many people saying that without tv, one piece is doomed and dvd's will fail and they will stop so don't waste money buying them
Well, FUNimation might wind up paying extra for the correct aspect ratio.
Who knows what hoops FUNimation jumped through to get standard definition masters of Dragon Ball Kai in 4:3. Even Japans single DVD release was cropped into 16:9.
Well, I guess if Funi is willing to go the extra mile, then we could get the widescreen masters.

I dunno. It's not gonna be a very big deal for me, but if you guys want it so badly, then by all means fight for it. But if Toei won't give them to Funi, then don't penalize Fun for it.

Well, the simulcast's in it's proper aspect ratio of 16:9 so that's a good sign we might.

What does scare me is the fact that 207-228 were only released on Fullscreen in Japan, and that means Toei could potentially float FUNi the fullscreen masters only for those episodes. Toei are sometimes jerks about that…

It's Funimation…they'll find a way to make us double dip. Hell, we already had word that they were planning on releasing 26 episode sets now. I just hope Funi gets the widescreen version and that's all there is to it. I'm already triple dipping for DBZ...I already own the orange bricks, and I also want the DBoxes since I do want the aspect ratios to match across DB and DBGT, and now I want DBKai because they're actually faithfully dubbing DBZ now...I want DBZ to be the only series I ever buy multiple versions of.

While I want widescreens starting from 207, I will not complain too much if we get fullscreen masters for those early episodes that were released in 4:3 in Japan.
But if we start getting cropped masters for Enies Lobby +, I have to admit that I would be pissed. Royally. But at the same time, I would continue to buy the sets. But I'd probably just only buy them when they are on sale in that case.
Well, I guess I'm jumping the gun saying that this early. Just throwing that out there. Everyone has their own opinions on such picky matters I believe, but in my eyes cropped is editing in an uncut set.
