It's why you can't trust that place for any information. They don't use facts or logic to dictate anything. It's Fanwank first, fansub terms and translations second, real info third, plain and simple.
Also, the group that began the trend, K-F still leaves half the terms untranslated, but the newer groups doing it, at least Yibis, translate the terms, including "Magical Super-special snowflake happy funtime word" Nakama.

I remember when K-F announced they were using "nakama", they also announced that they weren't translating "mikan", even though it can easily be translated as "tangerine". At least Nami's tangerine orchard wasn't brought up much since Arlong, "nakama" was beaten into people until they were convinced it was a "super special chocolate-coated magic word".

That spoiler is beautiful and I worship you for it. I can admit to being one of the "nakama is a special word" crowd for a long-arse time, and then I hit college and took a class on Japanese. I'm on year 3 now, but if anything I had a few conversations with the professor and at one point we had a "pen-pal" thing going on where we wrote back and forth in the other person's native language… (I'd like to point out before anything else that I fail with Japanese beyond belief)... But at one point my Pen-Pal and I started talking about shows and OP showed up... soooo I did the derp-y American thing and asked about it. Needless to say she laughed about it and said something along the lines of "no its easy to translate, you crazy American you... it isn't super special or anything!". Really makes me wish I kept her letters now that I think about it >>;;
On another note, I'm a part of the population boosting the collection sales... Since I've been away so long I hadn't even owned a single one of their dubbed episodes... and now that I'm watching them I wished I'd caved and bought them sooner. [Although my money hogging side is like, if you hadn't waited you would have paid twice as much for them!]
Oh and whoever mentioned the collection cases being fragile… ohgod they are. I'm terrified for what could happen if I dropped them on a hard floor... I went to open the first collection and cracked a little bit of the case already. Cheap plastic[orwhatever] is cheap.

Meh, I don't really mind how the case/sides look. All my DVDs/BDs will be going into my DVD wallets anyway. I'm hoping they do nicer disc art for this season, 'cause to be honest, the disc art on the older Voyages were just "blah" and one had to take a really good look at it to make sure you had the right number of the disc of the right Voyage. This is the only time I give props to the Collections, I love that the individual discs tell the specific episodes on each disc. As long as there are no defects on the DVDs, everything else is just icing on the cake.
With Collection Seven using Robin on the cover, they have used up all the current (at that time) straw hats, anyone have any idea what Funimation is gonna use for the final Collection 8 dvd cover, perhaps a group shot cover ?, too bad Franky hadn't debut by then or he could been collection eight cover pirate.

Ugh, comments like this truly annoy me more than anything else. Note that this came from a discussion about fans wanting FUNimation to pick up the rights to the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise on my forum, but it is relevant because of how this person (who I will leave anonymous) trash talks about the FUNi dub for One Piece because of some ridiculous opinions, one possible mistake, and some even more ridiculous misunderstandings regarding voice actors.
All i have to say, is that it would be very bad if Funi gets a hold of YuGiOh. they already have 85% of the anime market in this country, having YuGiOh and all the other stuff that 4kids has/had) would give them a ~95% monopoly on the market, which is very bad for the economy in general and for us in particular.
Further, while some people are happy with the Funi dubs, and ill agree that some of them are alright or even good, their one piece dub is just terrible. There are translating issues and the voice acting is just bad. For example, one of zoros 2 sword style attacks, the Nirtoryuu Iai Rashomon, is translated in the funi dub as "1 sword style draw and resheathe Rashomon (and hes using two swords, how did they mess that up?), and in the Jaya arc, which they specifically did the dubbing for because 4kids thought it was filler and skipped it, a major character gives an important monologue, and they change the articles he uses. They have him say "pirates dreams never end", while in the jap he uses "hito", meaning people, not "kaizoku", meaning pirate/s. that may sound nitpicky, but the word choice makes a big difference, it makes him sound selfish and egotistical, which you are not supposed to think at that point (also, hito and kaizoku sound nothing alike, i cant imagine their thought process on that). As for the voice acting, a lot of people like the new luffy, the one from the sands of arabasta movie Funi released here in the US, but I for one cant stand it. And to me, the other are just kinda meh. The best VAs I've heard in the entire are usopp and enel, and enel is still joey wheeler.
While other shows, like Soul Eater, get great dubs; superb voice acting, great translation, and no censorship at all, other shows, like one piece and Kuroshitsuji (I feel the same about it as I do OP), get crappy translation and anywhere from mediocre to terrible voice acting. Funi dubs, from my experience, are a matter of luck; it's either good or it's bad, and there's no way to tell which way it will go.
So, there's no way to know if any redub we get for 4kids shows will be better or worse. On the whole, for 5ds at least, the 4kids dub acting is not bad (to me anyway); its the censoring that really hurts the show. That's my feeling on one piece as well; the 4kids voice actors were better, but they had horrible censorship, worse than 5ds or any other 4kids show i can think of (even pokemon) and it really hurt the show.
I honestly hope someone else gets the rights, but the sad fact is if Funi really wants it, they can just throw money at it until they get it, they have more than enough to do so, and the returns they'll receive is worth almost any price. So they'll probably end up with it.

Part of me feels guilty for posting it in the first place. That part is the admin responsibility guilty conscious part.

Wow, and now that guy is complaining about the 'Gyoncorde Plaza' localization in the simulcast, calling it a 'mistake'. He doesn't have a firm grasp on what localization is, apparently. I always thought 'Conchcorde' was one of FUNi's cleverer bits of localization in this arc.

I like it! Sadly I have yet to catch up on purchasing the Collections, so I can't justify purchasing Season 4 Voyages (YET!).
I thought its like mixture of the collections and the Voyages. With the front cover part look like white sand now that I seen the cover more closer.

i think a change in direction was needed for this season and although they look nothing like the previous voyages that is going to look amazing alongside them on my shelf! Season 4 is going to kickstart the dub into new exciting territory and i only hope we can get season 5 before its over because if i have to wait again im not going to be happy.
Im really looking forward to seeing the other voyage covers now with aokiji,franky,water 7 etc.

at this stage with an advertisement out id say it is probably likely to be final ,although there is still time to add in those wave effects from the season 4 trailer.

It's a nice cover. The white, even though its plain, enhances the light-hardheartedness of the cover. That being said, "voyage one" bothers me. It throws off the uniformity of my dvds. I hope Funimation responds to my tweet regarding ths.
Well, for all of those who liked the cover then good for you…for the rest like me...let's just hope they at least change it to "First Voyage" instead of "Voyage One"...This season's dvds are going to look SO weird next to the other ones.
