New opening is epic… Really for me the ebst one so far even if the SHs aren't the main characters of it.
Marco looks really fantastic^^

Personally I would be happier if there was less Luffy walking towards out of focus Ace. Those scenes just made is draaaaaaaaaag and I would find myself switching tabs as soon as I heard the song go into it's chorus to see the actural exciting parts. It would have had a much more dynamic ending if the slow walking Luffy began to run and the Ace that was waiting for him was shown on the execution platform.
This Opening is exactly like OP anime: slow and boring.
I like it more than the last, but where's the energy and life?
I don't think all openings need to be upbeat, but like has been pointed out in the past there seems to be a trend of lessening intensity in the music selection for the openings.
Still, good improvement, fits the tone of the story, nice spikes of animation to introduce all the major players (I fuckin' love those). Just must be hard to fill the like 2:30 with top notch animation and too upbeat a song I guess.
Anyone know if there'll never be closings again?
Oh yeah One thing I wanted to mention. Is they changed Hancock's dress to Purple. I wonder why that is? Did Oda Color it somewhere and I never noticed?
I was shocked to see no Sabo in the opening. Not even his hat.
Song was ok i guess, I'm sure it will grow on me.
Did anyone else think Mihawks background shot made him look abit younger? There is just something about that mouth..
I tried my hand at doing my own version of the opening. Granted, I love the new opening, but I had so much fun when everyone made their own versions of opening 12, that I felt compelled to do this.
That wasn't bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I'd take it over what we got.
@Thousand:
How about you put up or shut up and link a good sad song then?

This opening is epic because the shot of Nami confirms the existence of doughnuts in OP. I don't think I've ever seen them in the series. EPIC.
Dude, huh? In Garp's very first appearance he was going for the world record of doughnut eating.
Y'know, I wonder if people would be complaining about the supposed ''yaoiness'' and ''homoerotic undertones'' if Ace kept his shirt on.
And come on, it's not like in Kaze wo Sagashite where they matched lyrics about a waiting love to the image of Luffy falling through the sky towards an anguished Ace.

Hey, great to have your useless opinions again.

Hahaha, that was awful. I'm seeing a trend here, people who don't like the opening have bad taste in music.
Edit: It's not even a sad song. What it was was an up-beat song about growing up except it was boring and uninspired and pretty lifeless. Had a good tune at times but that's it. Most of the time it was grating on the ears but it was more the fault of the vocalist who needs singing lessons.

Well look whose back and has the briliant strategy of openly declaring their alt :ninja:
this is a good song?:w00t:

I don't wanna hear music criticism from the guy who stated boring, monotone, scratchy, lifeless, Hawaiian fruity cup Crazy Rainbow Star had more energy and drive than Share the World.
I found him really beautiful this opening, it is now my preferred.
I like very much Luffy who runs towards Ace, it's cute and the songs is the best !
She have not sad and it is not necessary compared Naruto with One Piece, have no it comparable.
I just listened to/watched the new opening. I turned to my brother after it was over and told him that this song HAD to be written about One Piece, not just a randomly chosen J-pop song. Way too many details to be a mere coincidence.
The visuals weren't really that spoilery, but the lyrics should be in friggin' spoiler tags!

you obviously suck man

Wow, that was amazing. I'm seeing a trend here, people who don't like the opening have good taste in music.
Fixed. They have far better taste, when compared to fool's like yourself.

The song's about depression and suicide, how is that not sad? Why don't you actually try to listen to what is being sung? Right now your just putting your fingers in your ears trying to block out the reality of how much you've failed with your earlier post, and it couldn't be more obvious to everyone here.
! Yes, I somewhat called Whitey Bay Color from coloring the panel of her months ago. The opening was really good.

Depression and suicide is for emo losers. I'm sorry, I just had to say it. You might as well use Linkin' Park or something.
Blink 182 > You

Come on dude, Blink? You probably also like Linkin Park and Skillet?
I'm completely lost since I haven't listened to any of those bands.
@Kairouseki:
I'm completely lost since I haven't listened to any of those bands.
You're not missing anything.
The only song I ever heard from Linkin Park was Breaking the Habbit , which I have to say was prety good , and a bit of Across this new divide which was okay I guess .
By the way I admit the first part with Luffy and Ace and the logo seemed rather amateurishly done at first sight I dunno .
Also
! Oars is yellow who woulda thunk it ?
Linkin Park is a band that everyone hates because everyone loves to hate them, myself including
I liked Numb
I admit that all those FMA AMV's with Breaking the Habbit looked prety sweet even if I never watched FMA at that time (and stil have only read the first two chapters , seen a few eps of the original , towards the end , and the movie - I have lots to catch up with , Toriko included and I've been thinking of Flame of Recca too so…...)

Hahaha, I can't believe you like that crap to the point you get defensive about it.

A sad song is not determined by the theme or lyrics but by the actual, you know, song. By your logic a slow paced song would be happy if the lyrics were about sunshine and unicorns. I could barely make out any of the words that lousy singer was saying anyway. The fact that the theme of the song was presented with such a disgustingly cheery tune makes the song even worse.
shut up, thousie
Fact is, Adam's Song is still ten times sadder than One Day, quick tempo which is fooling you into thinking it's happy-go-lucky or not.
Good for One Piece? No, but it's still a sad song which is what someone else dared other people to find.
so this OP will cover the childhoold of ace and luffy ?
good thats no spoiller was on the OP..
oars is yellow..no.
liked the shichibukais and the admirals scenes
the supernovas was uselles
and yes..it is a sad music..but is fits
the chorus and the faces get along
the timing was also good (and vista ??)
and to use the Inpel Down scene of BB crew ?
what a shame.
and the final part with ace (whe can´t see hes eyes)
was a litlle let down
ok a bit confused here. what song are you talking about that is all about depression and suicide?
cause that sure isn't what this opening song is about
That Blink song.

No see, I dared someone to find a GOOD sad song. That song was pure garbage.
Yeah, someone suggest a sad song that FITS One Piece next time.
And, yes, it was sad. Still sadder than One Day. Though … One Day is just kind of sad in retrospect since we know what's gonna happen.
is about the melody
not the lyrics
Opening is great, after listening to it about fifty times I'd say it has grown on me already.
We Are will always be #1 in my book. Kokoro no Chizu is a close second. Everyone sucks Brand New World's dick all the time, but I particularly don't care for it. Meanwhile, everyone gives Jungle P shit most of the time and I thought it was the best of the 2:30 openings (which I don't care for at all).
Opinions, people. Don't get into such a tizzy.
This opening is epic because the shot of Nami confirms the existence of doughnuts in OP. I don't think I've ever seen them in the series. EPIC.
Garp + Donuts
We've seen them before

Blink 182 is awful
the supernovas was uselles
I thought that too at first, but then I thought that they are here as well as the blackbeard pirates because they represent the new era, that will come after the war.

ahahahahahah, what are you, an 11 year old from ten years ago?
Wow, just wow at the Blink 182 thing…
I'm speechless
@Monkey:

yeah..i can swallow this..
for now
but.this "one day" song is better than the last one
poor ID arc.
but..what Blink 182 have to do with OP ?
just random..
I thought the new opening was better than any we've had in awhile. More mature, and suited to the upcoming material. Glad to switch to something more rocky than that painfully saccharine pop from last time. The animation is also better than the last couple too. My favorite is the various shots of the Strawhats on the ship during their downtime, and the blue mountain scene frame between Luffy and Ace.
Why are people comparing this to shitty American pop punk?
I too think the general idea here in the forum is the right one.
It's a fine opening. i like it and it is thousand times better than the previous one.
As for Toei, all of their decisions for this opening are right.
And i agree with the people that say song could be better.
It's not bad, decisions are definitely good but the execution could be a little better.
I listened to the song a few times and I started to like it. Not bad, but still, a little… I don't know, not that unique, but fits.
And what's the point in saying: "If you don't like this band, you suck" You know what's nice in humanity? We all have got different opinions, we aren't like: "I love it!" "Yeah, me too" "Me too metoomeoometoo" etc. I hate when somebody doesn't respect the other's opinion.
Back on topic, I love how the strawhats are shown in the opening. Apart. It's a nice touch.

I hate to tell you but far over half this thread is like that. Don't go back and look, it'll stress the hell outta you.
How can any1 say no spoilers in there? Of course there was. Marco & Joz are spoilers. Oars is a spoiler./
I think the scene where they together is more emotional than the luffy-ace flashback shots
I can kind of agree with this. Even if it was lifted from the Vol. 52 cover, that shot of the group mugging together at that part of the song did hit me.
@Zach:

It's too late, I've already read the whole thread. It's sad. Well, I guess it's not much to do, so I'll just listen to some music.
By the way, about the spoiler thingy, I think some older openings was far more spoilerish than this. Yeah, they showed us some powers, but I think it's good, because this will make people curious: "Oh hell, his power looks cool, can't wait to see him in action"
How can any1 say no spoilers in there? Of course there was. Marco & Joz are spoilers. Oars is a spoiler./
Marco and Joz could´t be out of the opening
they whore importants part in the war..
and.flashy powers is awesome to show
is like..not showing moria or donquixote,or whitebeard..
the showing without spoilering period was over in the last opening
about oars..the color was a a let down for me..
yellow ???
yeah..oars was unnecessary spoiler
The powers of Whitebeard, Marco and Joz were a spoiler, they could have shown them without powers
