This makes no sense. Why would PSP sales go down if the games are what is being pirated? Is there some awesome hardware piracy going on that I don't know about?

I love the design, versitility, and capabilities of the PSP, far far more than the DS.
But the DS gets all the games lately.
Low PSP sales due to lack of games…
Japan gets its Monster Hunter and Kingdom Hearts, but that's it.
Also, any other console also suffers from piracy, especially the DS, so...

Not enough of the great games were released outside japan.
Not enough of the ones that were released made it to europe.
The PSP is basically dead here, I have bought 2 games this year that were released in england, compared to about 10-15 games from america & japan. Anyone who doesn't import here has a games drought, and stores don't promote the psp at all because of this.
Also not enough everyone playing Half Minute Hero, not really sony's fault though.

The recent PSP models (3000) are pretty much impossible to be hacked unless you go through this cumbersome firmware downgrade process which is more trouble than its worth.
It also doesn't help that they've been trying to push the PSPGo despite lukewarm response.
Now that's funny, they forgot piracy helped to sell their PS2 hardware like hot cakes.
That promise of being able to transfer games to the go died a quick death as well.
Who's gonna buy a PSPgo when KH BBS is released on UMD only and it's about the only game that's still worth buying? And no one can guaranty that others aren't following that direction.

Judging from past KH games. Both that and the DS one'll probably be remade and bundled for the PS3 or something. Except not for Europe. We don't play games apparently.

I know how you feel. Last year I decided to try and sell my original PSP. Went to three majorshops. The first shop, lets call HTV refused to buy it. The second shop, lets call them Lamestation offered me £15 for the console. And the final one. Shall we call Lame. Offered me nothing (They said they'd take it off me but wouldn't give money.) They then went and claimed it was an American console and such it's illegal to buy it there. I then shown them the receipt from their shop which was still in the box. Shut up then.
Yeah. Only way to get rid of it was to give it away. Oh well. Back to the man-drawer for you PSP. Maybe one day when I feel like playing Breath of Fire or PoPoLoCrois again you'll be there for me.

anyways, the only reason i want a PSP is cause i like megaman, and heard the remakes on the PSP were pretty good. Though, I'm not paying, what, $150 or something to play 2 games…. (ok, well maybe i'd buy parappa if i had a psp)
There are more then enough good games on the PSP to warrant a purchase.
Sony's problems have been the game drought for the first couple of years, as well as truly abominable marketing.
I'd quite happily recommend buying one to any of my friends now as long as they're willing to import.

Overall I've enjoyed m PSP games far more than DS games aside from the earlier Castlevania titles.
I've spent far more time with the system and it's been a helluva lot more rewarding.
But the kanji games for DS are fantastical.
I will admit I haven't really been interested in anything the PSP has offered recently but Last Ranker, God Eater and the new MGS excite the hell out of me.
True and God Eater, KH BBS, MGS Peace Walker, MH Freedom Unite 3, GoW 3 and FFXIII Agito are still on my list.
I gotta say, after Captain Shmeckie showed it to me, the Lunar remake seems pretty awesome, and I missed out on that game on the PS1.
Both handhelds are seem to be really satisfying when it comes to RPGs.

Its one of the main reasons I bought a PSP in the first place.
They've put Suikoden 1 up on the playstation store, so thats part of the battle… but its still not part 2.

Same here. (although PAL) Although I own both for the PS1 anyways. That's why I bought the PSP really.
