@Kokutou:
Why would you say Ace doesn't know CoA?
Because he couldn't stop AkaInu's ownage very unline Shanks kick stopped the red bellowing dog. Unless AkaInu's CoA is stronger than Ace's and weaker than Shanks :ninja:

The amount of ad-hominem attacks in this thread alone make it worth reading. Good entertainment- keep it up!
And so I'm on-topic: I'm disappointed in Robin's new hairstyle. Bangs 4ever.

But that's fact.
It may not be relevant in this case.

I respect this 08er.
Also, for the CoA argument, Ace couldn't do anything to Smoker when they fought.
@Sea:
But that's fact.
Than where would you put WB? Half of his face got bitten off by the mad red dog. That makes Shanks>AkaInu>WB>Ace according to their CoA levels.

They only fought in the Anime. In other words the fight in the anime was a filler.</nico:<>

After WB gets stabbed, Marco mentions that his condition is getting so bad that he's losing it. Unless he just felt like letting Squard stab him to prove a point…
Time to reread Arabasta :ninja:

No. Whitebeard didn't see it coming. Marco said that a younger WB would have seen the attack coming and done something about it but his haki wasn't as powerful as it once was because of his old age.</nico:<>
The pacing of the story since the marineford arc. I think marine ford had its high points, but I feel like the story has been thrown off its pacing until recently.
I also think marine ford was sort of over hyped, white beard's death is significant as is ace. That isn't a war though. No governments were over thrown, and pirates are still running an a muck.
Than where would you put WB? Half of his face got bitten off by the mad red dog. That makes Shanks>AkaInu>WB>Ace according to their CoA levels.
We don't actually know enough about how COA works to be able to say any of that with certainty. I don't think it works the way a lot of people have guessed. I'm looking forwards to some more complete haki demonstrations and explanations in the coming chapters.

I was paraphrasing…. but yeah, his health was getting worse, so he didn't' see it coming. So if his CoO haki was weakening, his CoA was probably weakening as well, which allowed Akainu to magma fist his face. And you can't ignore that WB hit him with his DF power as well.
The upcoming battles in OP
Luffy: take this you magma bitch– CoAaaaa
Mad Red Dog: I saw it coming-- CoO Dodge
Luffy: bastard I will kick your ass-- CoC
Mad Red Dog: hahaha not good enough son of dragon-- CoA Block
The fact shanks and Sengoku simply let BB escape.
That such a big deal was made over the level 6 prisoners (the unnamed ones) being allowed to escape, yet nobody mentions them or seems to have noticed them two years later.
Edit: Phew, thought i was jan 2010 for a sec there.

Sengoku mentioned that even one of them hiding out on some island could cause an incident. So I think we're supposed to assume that that's what they're doing. Gathering supplies, allies, making plans, etc.
Or they could have, you know, avoided SA, since that's the only place we've seen so far. And very little of it at that.
@ <nico:< small="">> I respect this 08er.
oh gosh. are we categorising and judging members' posts by their join date now. not that it's never happened before, it's just… this. this. and usually it's by the older members so I kind of get it sometimes.
2010…..truly a terrible year of new posters.
@TiT:
You said it. Especially those Sept/Oct newbies. Just horrible. The thought that 2010 has two months left makes me shiver.
y34h t0t4lly. especially those who joined in August, who do they think they are?!
on-topic: not to be a bootlicker, but I honestly can't think of one thing that really disappoints me in OP. there are moments in the plot when i go "NO ODA DO NOT DO THAT", but when I think about it I realise it's not just about what makes the reader feel happy, it's about plot development and characterisation and depth and having a good narrative and… yeah. the only thing that makes me semi-disappointed regarding One Piece is that I only started reading it around May/June this year, but that's not relevant.</nico:<>

I also regret not following One Piece from the start. For example, I watched both Skypiea and Ennies Lobby BEFORE Arabasta. So, when I rereaded everything (yes, I started with the anime and quickly switched to the manga), I already knew things like Robin joining the Strawhats.
I'm quite sure people weren't expecting her as the new nakama, but since I already knew it, I was just "oh, she joined. Good".
And also, I regret not making an account in AP earlier. I've been reading One Piece regularly for 2 or 3 years, but only thought about joining during 2010. . .oooh, mistake!
I still think it's a shame that the Yami Yami no Mi can't let attacks pass through them, ok in the recent Episodes and Chapters are many people shown that can use Haki, but Blackbeard said that the YnM is the strongest devil fruit but still he got owned by Magellan

tbh, Brooke is a disappointing character addition to me.
His humour is not funny at all, and his skillset as a swords man is just overshadowed by zoro. It woulda been cooler if he actually fought enemies with musical instruments or something. I still love the design of an afro-skeleton musician though.
Also, as mentioned countless times, characters not dying is something that I think hinders the impact of certain plot points in OP.

I agree with this. I tried to like him, but I am not able to care about him. He's overall a very uninteresting character.
A few notes:
1-Pell's death. Everyone is disapointed by it. Yet, we all agree it made the death of Ace and WB even more powerfull. "Oda won't kill a character! He doesn't have the guts! Oda, you pussy! Oda, you. . .Holy shit! You just killed the man character's brother? And the Strongest Man in the World ?". So, in the end, be it coincidence or planned, it was for the better that Pell didn't die.
No. No it wasn't. Pell should have died period. If ONE person can take a bomb POINT BLANK that was meant to wipe out an entire city… then why carry it off at all?
It just made Pell not dying MORE retarded.
My Gripes:
-Luffy gets a hook through his body and lives because of a bandage.
-In Thriller Bark, The crew tried to show that they can win without Luffy... but failed? What?! Bad writing.
-Eneru, Jyabura, and Rob Lucci fights were god awful.
-Crocodile being cocky after getting his butt handed to Luffy.
It's only on my mind because I just watched Movie 8.
Pell dying seriously wouldn't have taken anything away from the events at Marineford, and as it's been said a million times, one guy probably between Usopp and Sanji in strength taking the entire blast didn't quite make sense. And then there was the 4 ton bat incident. Where Oda could have easily NOT said it was 4 tons or made it so Mr. 4 wasn't described as insanely strong.
When I think of Alabasta, I really don't dwell on those, but they were definitely snags.
My Gripes:
-Luffy gets a hook through his body and lives because of a bandage.
Luffy gets impaled fairly often. It never makes much sense, but I figure you get used to it.
-In Thriller Bark, The crew tried to show that they can win without Luffy… but failed? What?! Bad writing.
That wasn't the point of fighting Oars….
-Eneru, Jyabura, and Rob Lucci fights were god awful.
I know it's opinion, but I have to wonder what you didn't like about those.
-Crocodile being cocky after getting his butt handed to Luffy.
Would he become meek after being barely defeated? Would Arlong, Krieg, Ener, or Lucci reappear as less egotistical characters? Is Akainu going to be a more gentle soldier after being floored by Whitebeard? I am having a lot of fun with these but you can see where they all go.
Being rubber, having Luffy surviving being impaled isn't quite so outrageous as the things Zoro goes through. I figure at some point Luffy learned how to unconsciously do something to the area around the wound, firm it up or something, to keep from losing too much blood and maybe stabilize internal injuries. Considering what he went through as a kid it isn't as impossible as it sounds.
Trafalgar Law being so high in the last character poll.
Damn japanese fangirls. He is good looking, cool and stylish but I do not think he should be that high especially if he has not been developed a lot. Well, we will see more of him in the NW.

Blasphemy!

That's the best disappointment you could come up with?
The fact that plotholes actually exist.
Can you elaborate on this please? I'm wondering what you mean by this.
I have a semi complaint. Is it me or does the artwork during Thriller Bark (specifically the fight with Oars v. The Strawhats save Luffy) take a very odd, almost sketcky, look? Now, I am not accusing Oda of being Togashi or anything, it just seems that the art in this part of TB was lacking, specifically shots of Oars himself. Maybe Oda was having a hard time drawing a creature the size of Oars in combat with normal size humans or he had difficulty capturing the scope of the fight but the art always feels a little weaker here imo.
The fact that we see Chopper's Scope attack all of once, then it disappeared forever. Why even bring it up in the first place?
Also, in TB, why even bother with that whole "we can defeat Oz by cracking his spine," then Chopper giving the medical lecture about the curve of the human spine? It almost seemed like Oda was trying to pull a Naruto with every attack explained before or after its done.
This thread will attract Naruto fans!
Your just asking for it.
The fact that we see Chopper's Scope attack all of once, then it disappeared forever. Why even bring it up in the first place?
It's actually been used in all of Chopper's fights during big arcs(Chessmarimo, Mr. 4 & Ms. Merry Christmas, Gedatsu) except for Kumadori, but there was good reason for that.
Also, in TB, why even bother with that whole "we can defeat Oz by cracking his spine," then Chopper giving the medical lecture about the curve of the human spine? It almost seemed like Oda was trying to pull a Naruto with every attack explained before or after its done.
Because it gave the reason for why everyone was going out of their way to immobilize Oars. Even though he couldn't feel it, Oars was nearing his limit. But the entire crew sans Luffy had already been beaten twice and the latter stands no chance alone so they were way worse off.
So if the spine wasn't forced to remain straight during the impact, Luffy's Gigant Bazooka wouldn't have been to shatter it. Which means Oars would have been able to kill off the remaining Strawhats who'd be taken out of the fight(Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Robin) due to needing to hide or death from the sunlight.
Also, in TB, why even bother with that whole "we can defeat Oz by cracking his spine," then Chopper giving the medical lecture about the curve of the human spine? It almost seemed like Oda was trying to pull a Naruto with every attack explained before or after its done.
You've never read Jojo, have you.
It was an attack that needed explanation. Not every attack in OP need anatomy knowledge to come up with.
How the hell are attack explanations considered "pulling a Naruto"?
Oh, I almost forgot Kishi also invented the timeskip and one-eyed characters.
Its not really a disappointment, but since we're speaking of it I don't know how the SH's came up with the idea to break Oars' spine. I don't recall them getting together to make a plan.
@Cyan:
You've never read Jojo, have you.
Pretty much. If anyone's ever read Jojo, something as trivial as complaining for "explanations during a fight" would never leave their mouths (or their fingers).
I did not like how the battle of Marineford was developed.
@CCC:
And so I'm on-topic: I'm disappointed in Robin's new hairstyle. Bangs 4ever.
I agree with this. I figured I could just get used to it, though (so long as she keeps those shades, otherwise I'd get stuck with the thought she looks like she needs to wash her hair– or just had them washed).
Other than that, no other complaints.
[hide]On second thought, I do have a small one=, even though I don't particularly care for this character at all.
I had liked Boa SO much better before she fell in love with Luffy. I get annoyed whenever she gets into her love-sick mode. It would have been funnier if she kept her bitchy higher-than-thou attitude even on Luffy.[/hide]

I'm pretty sure Chopper came up with the plan since he was the one to explain it.
