That's true, also, people seem to forge that Bay takes his cough "inspirations" from different eras of Transformers fiction. (The Fallen was from a comic series earlier this decade)

Unicron has had a toy where he was a tank, so it's possible that's where he's getting his cough "inspiration" for if this turns out to actually be Unicron and not some new character he's making up for the movie.

Some people have speculated the guy in the ship may be Sentinel Prime, he was mentioned last movie and has been shown to have an orange-ish colorscheme before.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything that was wrong with this movie. It was an hour too long. I didn't feel anything for anyone. The question "why?" kept popping into my head. I didn't go into this expecting something great. I went to see a mediorce film filmed with lots of cool robots blowing each other up but i didn't even get that. Nothing in this movie compares to the forest fight in Transformers 2. The biggest robot dies the lamest death. Optimus Prime always manages to swoop in and save the day while also being MIA for most of the fights. There's some guns. Marines do something? The plot is literally like someone took several scripts, threw them in a blender, and then taped half of them together and called it a day. Theres like some attempt at a conspiracy? Ken Jeong is in it for no reason and does nothing. Terry Tate is in it for no reason. The cinematography is awful. There are several shots of characters close up in a slowmo for no reason. Nothing important is happening to them. They're just walking or standing and BAM DRAMATIC CLOSEUP.

I could go on and all of that would've been fine if the fight scenes were at least cool. The last fight is the only entertaining one and sadly thanks to the plot and bad angles/shots/cutaways it makes the least sense (which is saying a lot) and is therefore one of the least enjoyable ones.

I'd like to think everyone who wanted to see this movie saw it tonight. If you didn't, don't. It's not worth the money ($10.50 here) or the time. Mostly the time.

I've been a huge fan of Transformers….for over 25 years. For many of those years, the idea that they could bring a live-action movie to the big screen was a dream. When it was finally confirmed they were going to make one, it was a dream come true. Then Michael Bay came in. Then all the dreams were crushed carried away to the junkyard. The first one was ok for a popcorn flick, but....
"Yeah, they're giant robots. What do you want?" Honestly, it could have been so much better. There's a lot of potentially great sci-fi stuff as well as interesting character chemistry in Transformers that all us long time TF fans grew to love. The Hub's new animated series is way better story than the movies. The problem is that it's perceived, and probably true, that the general public has a rough time accepting giant robots as something they can get emotionally invested in. But damnit, they could have at least picked some human actors that we could get emotionally invested in!
There's always hope for a good reboot, someday....

After reading reviews/opinions/comments and so on, i've decided that i'm gonna save myself fifteen quid and NOT see this. People, for the same amount of money it takes to see this movie, you could be buying a Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers TPB. Go and do that instead, it's a much more fulfilling example of Transformers storytelling than Bayformers.

As someone who saw the original TF movie in theatres, but hasn't even seen the sequel, I'm pretty surprised people are saying this movie was worse. I've also seen the opposite, this movie was better. My conclusion is they must be pretty darn similar in the end and any percieved quality difference really amounts to just personal preference.

One would think after Bay admitting the second movie sucked, this one would be noticeably better. It's not like Gore Verbinsky trying to divide a two part story, Bay came up with a completely new script for this baby. There's no excuse, especially if the action scenes were bad.

I have no idea why you would want to see your favourite cartoon franchise in LA though, Cosmic. The though of my childhood cartoons being plastered all over a main screen is horror enough to keep me up to 4:30 AM every morning. That, and Billy vs. SNAKEMAN.

Dude I feel ya… I have been in similar situation with my friends many times now, they think Transformers 2 is best thing since sliced bread and I think its quite likely the most worst piece of shit high budged film I have endured...

The movie was just a hot mess. I'm surprised so many people have been saying that this was better than ROTF. I can say this much, if ROTF is a turd, than DOTM is a turd wrapped in tin foil to make it glisten just a tad.

! Once again the Transformers took a back seat to everything, but that's not surprising considering how damn expensive they must be to animated. Most of the focus is on the Sam and the other humans, but that's hard on the brain when every human is like a perverted schizophrenic.
! I thought Sentinel turning was just odd, as well as the whole backstory to it. It totally retcons all the plans that Megatron had in previous films. And it didn't make sense why Sentinel would team up with the Decepticons to rebuild Cybertron when the Decepticons are the ones destroying it in the first place.
! Speaking of Megs, it baffles me how for the second time he takes the backseat as a villain. I'm shocked that a friggin' Autobot is the main antagonist of the film. And Megatron seems more like a bitchy adolescent. The fact that a one-armed Optimus is able to kill him instantly is just laughable. What the hell happened to the Megatron in the first movie? The one that evoked fear upon all the Autobots, and handed Prime's ass to him? Come ROTF, Megs needs two other robots to help kill Prime, and in the newest film can't even pull an Obi Wan on Anakin Optimus.
! The visuals were certainly remarkable, but they just felt so uninteresting. I'm amazed I couldn't find myself interested in any of the final battle scenes. And it was downright silly to see Prime take down a robotic version of a tremor, but then gets tangled up in some cords. The Autobots get taken prisoner after a scene I guess they thought wasn't crucial to the film.
! The robot Doc Brown complete with hair (who unfortunately turned out to be Wheeljack, but for some reason was referred to as Que) is killed, but not before begging for his life. It really didn't make you morn the death of him, which reminds me that Ironhide also died. It's bad enough that I forgot he died, but it's worse that the characters in the actual movie forgot as well.
! I couldn't even get myself attached to the other new robots, because I don't even know their damn names. They can't even take a minute to introduce these new guys? I think they much rather prefer showing them in vehicle mode making sick turns in Libya. It's cheaper that way.
! Prime shooting Sentinel in the head was just downright disturbing. Why are the Autobots homicidal maniacs in these last two films? I realize keeping Sentinel alive wouldn't benefit anyone, but it just didn't seem like something Optimus Prime would do. And that's just embarrassing that characters from toy commercial cartoons are more honorable, or at least wiser.

Saw it last night. And Its defiantly the better Transformers movie… But as well as know that's not really saying too much. But this movie (as a transformers fan) has the most going for it out of the previous 2.

I was just excited that the transformers (when on screen) has personalities. Previously the most personality we got out of the robots were the twins... But this time around we got to know Bumblebee a little bit, they finally decided that make all the robots gray moving metal as a bad idea, and gave each Autobot its own color and you can now tell them apart.

I perfer the first half of the movie over the second half. Mostly because as much fun as actions scenes are they get really boring quick (at least for me).

Even though this isn't the Transformers story, I did like the protagonist. Sam is kind of a dick, but in the I like to watch it like I watch House kind of way. Also Carly just made me the laugh the entire time. The movie spent way too much time glorifying her. Also did anyone else notice in the ending how they made sure Not-Megan Fox's thumbs were in every shot?

Overall the plot just kind of bounce here and there. The editing was complete shit. Its like they gave up, and said edit this movie like its a trailer. CG was great, but I mean we knew that going in. I didn't see it in 3D, but I could tell that there was multiple shots that would've looked great with the gimmick glasses.

Also did anyone else get bothered by the Squirrel-suit Parashooters 5 minute side adventure? That could've been easily edited to less than 30 minutes and it wouldn't effect the movie at all.

Saw it yesterday myself and indeed a step up from part 2. Good tension, interesting villains (well the two that did anything) and an impressive final battle. Was especially happy that Skips and Mudflap were nowhere to be seen. Though Brains and Wheelie took that role, least they were toned down.

But unfortunately it falls into the same pit the first two movies fell in and that focusing too much on the human characters. Its called Transformers, not Sam staring the Transformers. I wanna see how they handle the conflict, not half the movie how the humans react to what was going on. Hell half the final battle was focusing the human characters trying to survive and in the back of my mind I was screaming "SHOW THE DAMN ROBOTS FIGHTING!". Of course by the time we get that the movie nearly over =_=. Least when they did the first movie they were alternating between humans and robots. Here they seem to been too in love with the carnage the Decepticons were doing chasing the humans till they realized "oh wait we got hero robots too."

Still though it wasn't bad, just an average popcorn movie and nothing more. I will get it when it comes to DVD and hope it has more content to show.

Here I thought I'd be the only one on APForums to actually enjoy the movie; nice to see some slightly more positive views. Pretty much everything Silver and Retro said, I agree with. Also, long movie is frigging LONG.

I was pretty much okay with Carly's character until the action started picking up. That was when I really missed Mikelea; she may have been shameless T&A, but she was shameless T&A that did something awesome once in awhile. In regard to other new characters, Dylan and Mearing were both pretty cool, but Mr. Brazos and Jerry Wang were ridiculous.

The lack of Sam's parents was relieving though; maybe 5 minutes total in 2.5 hours. And Simmons has grown on me over the last 3 movies (kinda liked his new sidekick too).

Since I went to the cheap theatre to see it ($10 for a 3D movie), I promised my sister I'd go with her when she came up next weekend.

Shia Labeouf is the most annoying, obnoxious actor I've ever seen in recent cinema. All the times when he was yelling and making those stupid expressions, I wanted to bash my head against my chair. I was even temped to shout "SHUT THE HELL UP ALREADY!" in the theater. The model chick-whose-name-escapes-me wasn't good either. She just stood around and didn't contribute in anyway besides being the typical damsel-in-distress.
The 3D was barely even noticeable, some scenes didn't even need to be in the movie, the parents would just appear randomly, and the mother has an annoying ass voice that almost challenges Labeouf's. There wasn't enough focus on other Decepticons, including Megatron.
Sentinel Prime was a cool antagonist, I'll say that.

Overall, this movie was slightly better than the second, and the second movie sucked ass. So saying that, this movie was bad, but not shit.
I hope they don't make another one, but I know how Hollywood works, they will.
