Alright, duders. Anime Expo is about a month away from this posting, so it's time to get our stuff together, and head out to one of the biggest anime conventions on the West Coast. While there hasn't been any announcements of Guests of Honor related to One Piece, there sure is a lot of One Piece related activities going on this year. With OP's increasing popularity in America, there's bound to be even more OP fans, cosplayers, and love at AX this year compared to all years previously. So no matter the type of fan you are, come out to these activities on Saturday, day 3:
Anime Expo 2010 – Thursday, July 1 through Sunday, July 4
Saturday, July 3 @ 12:00 pm
-What? One Piece Cosplay Gathering at AX2010
-Where? Cosplay Gathering Site 1, outside between West Hall and Staples Center
-Info? One Piece AX gathering from Cosplay.com
-Like I said in the first paragraph, I'm fully expecting more OP cosplayers this year compared to last. If you've been, then you know what I mean. If you haven't, then be prepared to see a huge One Piece cosplay gathering. While quantity is good, quality is definitely better, and be prepared to see some quality OP cosplay this year. And as an FYI, the DBF Games are scheduled a half hour before the cosplay gathering to allow people to be there on time, and as an ice-breaker for OP fans, cosplayers, and photographers alike. After the photoshoot is done, feel free to hang around a while to take some more personal pictures as well as fun ones. Expect the gathering to last about an hour. And then we'll have…
Saturday, July 3 @ 1:00 pm
-What? Davy Back Fight Games 2: Electric Boogaloo, presented by Suupaa Kaizoku Cosplay
-Where? Cosplay Gathering Site 1, outside between West Hall and Staples Center
-Our second year hosting the Davy Back Fight Games. While last year was fun, there were still a few kinks to be worked out, and hopefully, we'll get them this year. Expect the same and newer games, different prizes (from last year and from Fanime if you're attending that; although Ribbons will remain constant), and a lot more fun. Perhaps there will even be a Marineford themed game or two. Who knows? Once again, I will do my best to host and keep order…while cheating both teams unbiasedly...Not really. Don't forget, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN COSPLAY TO PARTICIPATE. Games list–
- Rescue Ace Red Light/Green Light
- Marineford Target Practice — We have some fun with a Nerf/soft football
- Sanji’s Relay Race of Love — relay race with a tray of food as the baton
- The “One Piece” Concentration Game
- Jango’s Janken Combat — rock/paper/scissors to the beat of “1, 2, Jan, GO”
If you wanna play, just say so and stick around after the gathering. Once the DBF Games are done, we can head to…
Saturday, July 3 @ 2:00 pm
-What? The One Piece Podcast Panel
-Where? LACC 515A (aka LP3)
-Zach Logan and most of the Podcast crew are hosting a panel at their first ever visit to AX this year. If you like the podcast, a fan of One Piece, and especially a cosplayer, come to the panel to show your support, especially for some OP love. Laughs will be had, insights will be shared, and even PRIZES will be given out, I guarantee it. Since it's their first visit, let's show them how much we love One Piece and how much fun we can all have, because let's not make this their last visit.
So, for fans, and especially cosplayers, please make it to as many events as you can. And that's not including other big events like autographs, panels, Masquerade, etc. If you're a fan of One Piece, I expect to see you there. Otherwise, be prepared to face ABSOLUTE JUSTICE.
