Urouge says he voted for Akainu out of pity, by the way, so you can add him to that list if you want. Overall though, Akainu's a dick with a pretty flat personality that doesn't interest me. I look forward to more of his involvement, sure, but I'm much more interested in seeing him 'get what's coming to him'. Garp, on the other hand, has been awesome all across the board since his introduction in the Cobymeppo cover story. What's really sad is people voting for Akainu because his design was based off a real life actor I would bet 90%+ of the members here didn't even know existed until the hunt to match Admiral faces began. But hey, people can vote for who and whatever they want, even if it is stupid. I still don't see the appeal in the anti-Vivi, anti-Coby, and anti-Ace bandwagons either, so I have no reason to vote for Akainu over Garp, one of my favorite characters in the series.
tbh I have no problem with the people who voted for Garp because I actually really like Garp. One of my favourite "good" characters, mostly because he's not a generically good or generically bad marine but instead's just a wacky old guy who does what he feels like. But I've got to give Akainu credit where credit's due, he gave me one of the best scenes in the manga so far. So I excuse the people who voted Garp, y'all ok.

Akainu quickly became one of my favorite "villains" this past arc. Buggy and Croc sort of dropped off as villains with what happened, leaving mainly Eneru sitting at the top of my current favorite villains list, with Akainu close behind at #2.

I don't think some people realize just how well loved Garp is around here. He managed to tie Croc last year.
Hence the reason why you go for 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd when making the tournament….such a good match early with 2 top seed facing each other .... we will have a suck ass final ...
Lol that you think there's any possible way that we'll have a suck ass final. Whether the weak links get knocked out in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round doesn't really matter at all. They won't make it.
We're going to have high profile matches throughout the tournament, and no matter what we do, we'll have nothing but high profile matches at the end.

I've got to give Akainu credit where credit's due, he gave me one of the best scenes in the manga so far.
I enjoyed Ace's final moments as much as the next person, but all that says (to me) is that Akainu's only redeeming quality is being an effective powerhouse. Enel, Croc, and Moria are far better characters as far as I am concerned.

Upon re-reading water seven, I realized that almost all of Aikanu's dialogue was identical to Spandam's.
Pretty much ended my interest in the character forever, regardless of what he might have in the way of a logia.

Seems like you got that backwards. Whitebeard's sneak attack from behind in the end didn't slow Alainu down at all, but Whitebeard on the other hand, died shortly after.

Seeing as just a couple of chapters later it was shown that Whitebeard had achieved what he wanted in life and didn't give a crap about being Pirate King, I don't see the truth in his words. Marines claim it was their victory but they might not of stopped Whitebeard from collapsing the island into the sea if Blackbeard didn't show up.

I feel it's poetic his name translates to Red Dog because that's really what he is. Even if he works for a corrupt government, it's no different from a dog being raised by a bad master. It'll still fight, defend, and die for its owner but even if people judge the owner to be bad, they can't really judge the dog to be in any wrong.
Akainu killing Ace is probably the most forgivable death IMV. Arlong killing Bellemere seemed far more over the top, but if one thinks about it from Arlong's perspective and his history, it's not outrageous.
Croc tormenting Toto was true villainy. That's probably the most evil (yet human) thing someone's done in OP. I can't really think of anything nearly as callous.
