So I haven't been able to vote in polls for the past like 2 or 3 weeks. I don't know why it's happening, I just get a message below the results saying "you may not vote in this poll." Anyone have any idea what the problem may be?
Problems Voting

Due to people cheating in previous tournaments by creating new accounts to vote multiple times, new users are not eligible to vote in the tournament.
However, you are welcome to participate in the campaigning to sway voters toward your choice(s)

It's just weird cause i was able to vote in about the first 10 or so rounds of the tournament. Was the rule not implemented until then?
-
For the most part, yes.
-
You account was started in March , after the tournament had been announced, so yes, you do fall into the category of forum goers that are ineligible to vote.
A quirk in the multi-voting system enabled all users voting in the first few days, even though new members were not supposed to be allowed to. The problem has since been corrected. It is nothing personal, and you are not the only one affected, it is a guard that was supposed to be in place from the start.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but you can blame other users who tried to cheat for the sake of a popularity tournament, for fun on the internet.
You can however still participate in all other forum activities and campaign. If over the next several months you prove yourself to be a proper poster that isn't just a new account for the sake voting, you might be allowed to vote before the final rounds.

That happened to a couple of accounts last tournament, right?
-
Yup. People that never posted were left on the block list, but those that contributed a lot and proved to be real people were given a fair shot.
This thing will be running till the end of August, plenty of time to prove yourself.

Thank goodness, I was wondering if there was something wrong with my account. Turns out this is normal.
-
Uhh..My account was started in March and this doesn't effect me?!
-
β¦Because the tourney started in April.

Yes but I think the tourney was already announced before I joined, Snocone.
And GreatLiver joined around the same time as me

I'm wondering if you guys (espcially admins) can insert that information about voting in tournaments in a (or the if it exists) welcome message to new users of this forum?
-
If they don't read the thread handily titled "Official Tournament Rules", then that's their problem.
-
I can't do anything regarding poll's I can't vote in polls or create polls is there a reason why?
(excluding 2010 character tourney because I created my account after it started)
-
It's because of the tourney thing, happened to me last year, can't make polls and such. It will be over when the tourney is.
-
ah ok I understand to avoid multi voting by the same person buts not really fair to the people are real first timers that they can't make or vote in out of tourney poll's
-
I would PM a mod to get a better understanding of the system and why it affects things outside of the tourney because I know jack about this.

why? would I get in trouble for the posts?

why? would I get in trouble for the posts?
na. i was advising you to contact some mod about it. because after looking at your posts it doesn't seems like an account made for fake voting only (read my quote above).
but i am not to decide that. some mod will
-
Oh ok
Doubt it tho the mods seem kind of merciless and anyone can pretend to be a first timer couldn't they? Wouldn't the mods probably think that?

PM Mods "robbybedfart" or "freedom" or "Taboo" or maybe "Vanessa". Off the top of my head. They should help you out with no problem. If you want to go higher than mod, then PM Brennen.exe. He's probably the only Admin that's on periodically.

I know because of the tournament starting i am unable to vote. But is there any way i could prove myself to admins worthy of letting me able to vote? It's not like im some bot or anythingβ¦I just find it more enjoyable being able to play along and actually cast my own vote. So if anyone could help me with being able to vote in this years tournament it would be GREAT help to me.
-
I think you're lying. Send me your credit card information to prove you're not a bot.
-
Haha, funny man
ANd with your edit on social security number, i don't think Australians even have a social security number so sorry can't send that one to you
-
just be active thats the key.
another member was allowed 2 days back i think. -
okay okay
So as long as i post heaps and help campaign a little i should get the right to vote?
Thanks for that Fire-Fist, might even Campaign for Banchi next match
haha
-
I have the same problem, not allowed to vote. I guess its also fair as many would create fake accounts for voting. I'll go with Fire Fist's suggesting to actively participate so that mods could allow me to vote. Hoping for the best
-
I have the same problem. But I'll support as many of my "would-be-voted-for" characters.
-
Yes. Every new member has the same problem. It's not just certain members. We're not picking on you, or anything.
-
There are a couple pre-requisites we set in place before moving new members over to the active column for voting. You're meeting one of the requirements, posting, but there's still 2 or 3 other minor things you'll just hit upon eventually. (I can't tell you what they are, because if people knew what those requisites were, they could exploit them.) But in general, just keep posting and being an active member.
I know its a pain and its unfair to new members, you can blame all those in the past who tried to exploit the system and cheated.
