Its limitation is itself. For one thing, it's not instantaneous, it's very blatant. Second, in a fight, it's a little obvious how limited it'd be; the second he's gone is the second it takes to put a guard up. Where would it be effective if not behind the opponent? And by the time he comes out of the hole, someone could go halfway across a fighting area.

After everything those three have been through on the tain, it would seem like a waste to let CP9 capture them both. So Franky acted selflessly and sacrificed himself, to give them that chance, he knows Luffy is on his way and yeh, he probably had other motives in mind for doing that.
But sadly, it totally blew up in his face.

He was buying time with his life, a bad move. Not only would he surely be out of the picture, but CP9 would come for Robin anyway. Especially since the Rocket Man won't exactly turn around without reaching the lobby.

Eneas lobby at last! I'm really curious about the "never-night" description. Obviously it's got something that makes it more than a regular island….
Some people have said Calipha should have a long battle and some say she shouldn't... I say she definitely should, because not only is she hot, she's completely badass. It'd be an insult to her NOT to have a long battle that ends with her (and probably whoever the other people is, too, especially if it does end up being Usopp) completely beaten to a pulp. One Piece is hard to beat for "battle damage".

I don't think the problem was the length, but the opponent.
