Attack on Titan: Why Genocide Is Sometimes Kind of Okay

In unpacking this, a headcount:
! Supposing that there are indeed nine Titans, we have:
Zeke, the Beast Titan
Reiner, the Armored Titan
Annie, the Female Titan
Armin, the Colossal Titan, formerly Bertholdt
Ymir, the small Titan, formerly Marcel
Grisha, who presumably ate one of the Mare recruits but may have eaten the other Elodian Titan
Frieda, the Progenitor Titan
The weird transport Titan, which may or may not be a shifter
! With Grisha gaining the power of Frieda and then passing both on to Eren, we have at least one more Titan shifter still out there. I'd guess that there's another Elodian Titan, but the other Elodian Titan could have instead been the one Grisha ate. I find this unlikely, though, since Grisha had no memories of inside the walls.
! The whole thing is a bit odd, but it sounds like King Fritz took his clan to the island and transformed a buttload of people into Titans as a form of defense against Mare invasion, to which the Mare added a number of Elodian revolutionaries. The Mare Empire is clearly framed as the bad guys, but it's unclear just how much the Elodian really did to advance culture, especially since they froze its growth inside the walls.
! Probably worth waiting for a better/more organized scanlation either way. -

! Probably worth waiting for a better/more organized scanlation either way.! Even with proper translation lots of new questions would arise, beginning with the timeline…
Then comes how Mare people got hold of 7 titans, how they learn the technique of transforming people into Titan, how advanced they are now(!) etc. -
! Ayyy called it (kinda, not really)
! @Sâuza:
! > I just remembered that Annie's father was apologizing to her for something that happened and couldn't be stopped, he also told her to treat the world as her enemy and to promise him that she'd come back.Reiner and Bert are from Annie's village, and it seems like they never had a choice.
The higher ups knew about the titans and they even use them as the base of the walls.
So what if there's actually a war between two kingdoms and they use titans as weapons ? This could explain why Eren's father was so secretive about all this, he could've been under the king's direct command and was somehow responsible of producing titans but decided to spare Eren from becoming a "warrior" by injecting that serum into his arm.
It could also explain that certain children are used to fight forcefully for their nation. -

! The Series, with the Attack of the CT and the AT, started in the year 845, I totally dont understand the Timeline of AoT, since the newest Chap. 1800 Years ago, the first Human got the Titan Power. The first Chapter/The first Episode was called "To you, in 2000 Years".

! I'd guess that the 2,000 years part is just rounding since it would be awkward to say "To you, in 1,840 years." 1,800 is likely an approximation anyway.
! I'd guess that the current year is fairly arbitrary too, or it could refer to some other important event that we don't know about yet. -

! Rogue/Founding Titan, which went from Frieda > Grisha > Eren (My understanding was that Grisha wasn't a shifter himself but became a Titan to eat Frieda
Colossal Titan: Bertholdt > Armin
Armored Titan: Reiner
Female Titan: Annie
Dancing Titan: The aboves' fourth companion > Ymir
Beastial Titan: Zeke
"Pack Mule Titan": Unknown but is likely a Titan Shifter since he acts like Zeke's subordinate
! Unless I missed something there are still two unaccounted for. -

! Unless I missed something there are still two unaccounted for.! I did mention that one was unaccounted for, and theorized as to which side had it.
! I'm fairly certain that Grisha was a Titan Shifter before he consumed Frieda. Take a look at the barrel-chested form he took while fighting her- it's pretty different from regular Titans. Plus, Grisha was originally found outside the walls with little knowledge of them. Frieda, on the other hand, was at least two walls in, I think. It would be nearly impossible for a Titan to make it through multiple walls undetected and come across the one person who could return him to human. The question is just whether it was the seventh Mare or second Elodian that he ate before then.
! Either way, there are 1-2 more Titan Shifters out there. -

! That's possible. It still doesn't account for how Grisha alone was found outside the walls, human.

! you can actually see him stab his hand to transform when he attacks frieda, so he really already is a shifter
!
i think he stole some mare's power and came there to warn them or to get them on his side but they refused thats why he looks so desperate in those panels

Well, that was one hell of a chapter. I like how gray it is. It's true that what the Eldonians did a long time was horrible, but do they have to pay for that like that?
I really hope there won't be a "right" side in the end, if there were, it would mean that either Eren's father's single-mindedness is the right thing or the awful corrupt regime of the Marlay is right. Neither would be a very good solution to show as being entirely and purely right because no nation is.

Don't let a kid do an adult's job, dumbasses.
-
Also, Eren's dad's methods… weren't the greatest. He never deciphered the ancient texts fully. He pushed his wishes on Zeke and Eren because of his desire for revenge - at least at this point I feel like he also did it to Eren, he did tell Eren to avenge his mother.

Yeah. Two things that struck me in this chapter were "Oh, that's where Eren gets it from." and that Grisha is doing with Eren exactly what he did with Zeke: turn him into a laser guided tykebomb. It has the potential to backfire just as badly now as it did then, since Eren's hatred is more against the Titans than anything.
-
I hope for a happier ending for Eren and him being above that considering he's not chasing revenge anymore because only having awful shit happen can get too much, but this IS dark, so I'm not sure.

Hmm last time I read this manga it was starting to become armins and commander l's fanfic adventures.I might start reading it again so I was wondering if it moved on from that point or it got worse.

Claymore! Why did you not do this?

I can't take it no more… this is too much...!

Thos os like the jack in the box chapter of onepiece
So many new plot threads developed I can barely comprehend it
-
Yeah, all wanted and unwanted questions I had last chap are answered now. And rereading some older chapters, here are a few notions that occured to me.
- did the Titan who spoke to the Survey squad member really just saw Ymir or did he spoke in general, guiltridden, desperate or even happy, meeting a fellow Eldian?
- I still want to know why the titans Zeke transformed out of the villagers could move at night
- despite the threat of a Titan apokalypse Marley choose to overrun wall Maria. How could they be so sure nothing would happen?
- right in the first volume we are briefed that the land within the walls is rich on minerals and gas ressources
- if there exists any slash fiction between Zeke and Eren out there, it became a lot kinkier
-
Yeah, wow, this is one of the biggest reveal chapters in the entire series and things make a lot more sense now… even with plotholes here and there. But I'm wondering - what's with all these family connections? Why does everyone have to be related? It's getting a bit silly.
-
Who forced Connie's village to shift then?
-
That power is yet to be revealed…

Yeah i don't get that either.Wall is so long in perimeter and often so barren….why didn't they plan a secret infiltration? With Bertholt power both he and Reiner could have done that easily and entered the trainee corp as planned without making a ruckus.
Also here was the hint of the beginning..
!
-
one of the best chapters in a long time, the wait for the basement was worth it.
-
I was bored so I made this; Kenny and Sam Vimes from the Discworld novels, separated at birth.
Both utterly badass. Same grumpy character. Problems with authority. But damn would they hate each other. -
You know, this is obvious at this point, but this series is screwed up.
! Eren's literally being taken over by his father's memories. I wouldn't be surprised if he's in there alive as a whole person somehow, like the First King.
-
Screwed up?I think it is heading for a deadly end and i like it.
-
I mean screwed up as in there's some really screwed up stuff going on. Heavy themes.

Titan uses a Rack Attack on a ship because he can.

This might be too farfetched but could Grise be that titan from Ilse's notebook ?
He could have somehow become a Titan by getting the last one's power.
-
The owl be like… I am your father...
-
How ironic we get an Attack on Titan chapter on this horrible day.
-
Can't wait. It's been a long month!
-
The Owl chose a terrible time for showing up. I guess that the "Owl" Titan is the one Eren in heritage, before gaining the coordination one.

Can someone please correct me on this, I'm a little confused. Is the titan Dina the same one that ate Eren's mother? They look similar and they he had an intense reaction to that.

Yes they are, that's the reason that she found Ereb twice. He shares the blood of his father, /'d she is inately attracted to it

What I'm wondering is: How'd he get his fingers back before he found the town?
-
What I'm wondering is: How'd he get his fingers back before he found the town?
Going by the fact Kruger seems to be the Rogue Titan, I'm presuming he was already a Titan Shifter by that point. So shifter regeneration took care of that.
The dark humor side of my can't help but think of the Smiling Titan eating Carla now as a case of The Missus & The Ex.
-
what im wondering now, does he kill the owl out of revenge? or is the owl gonna let himself be eaten.
also, somewhere in the manga they are talking about 8 Titans. is it 8 + the original =9 or did ymir create 9 New ones and that was just a mistranslation?
either way, there is still at least one to be revealed( if the last one is not the Transport Titan)
thinking about it. we know the Wall was created by using hardening right? but what are these titans in it. the only one that big we know was bertholds Titan, and that Titan Power stayed with the marleyans, plus the ones in the Walls are alive.
so could this have something to do with the last Titan Power (if the marleyans took control over 7 and Fritz left with the other two)? -
I think it's original + 8, but there is one missing. If I have the ones we've seen correct it's:
Rogue Titan (Eren)
Colossus Titan (Bertholt)
Armored Titan (Reiner)
Female Titan (Annie)
Dancing Titan (Ymir)
Bestial Titan (Zeke)
Pack Mule Titan (Unknown)
Founding Titan/Coordinate (Reiss Family > Grisha > Eren)So if nine total there still is one left.
-
oh i see, the reiss titan IS the original, i thought the coordinate titan is also one of the 9 Parts created by the original
-
Did the pack mule titan act sentient? I don't think that thing is a shifter.
