Attack on Titan: Why Genocide Is Sometimes Kind of Okay

Well, it's out on Crunchyroll.
Seems like a lot of the stuff from the spoilers was fake. Despite that wtf moment with the noble, it was a good chapter. There's still a lot more questions than answers, but what we got was fine, just maybe predictable? But again, no big picture to it yet.
There might be some swerves to it and despite having guessed the barebones stuff I have no idea where it could go from here.
I liked the paralells between Eren's father and Historia's, and despite how frustrating it is, Historia acting like she did made sense to me. I don't really know what to think about the Ackerman thing, in the end is it a blood relation or not, is it something else considering even Mikasa's father didn't know what was up? It really seems like a blood relation right now and not too big on that, it's not that interesting of an answer, but again, no details to it yet.

So that might mean the Reiss family did command the titans into breaching the District where Eren's mother was killed ? But then again Frieda was pretty inexperienced so that could mean she recently ate someone who was the coordinate before her ?

We're actually getting answers, and they're all foreshadowed answers. Probably a good time to catch up for those who got bored because the political stuff's done. I'm torn about the Ackerman stuff because the details are still unknown and you never know for real till it happens, the Uchiha parallel is just one possibility. The Zacklay thing is just a bizzare wtf moment because it's just one panel and then gone.

It's tough to say, there's answers, but no details. Once the big picture stuff goes down the drain, usually the series goes down the drain. I mean, I was iffy about Eren becoming a Titan, but the details to that made it really well done to me. I was iffy about Annie turning out to be the female Titan because it was so obvious, but then there's Titans in the walls. I was also iffy about Reiner and Bertholdt becoming titans, but then they became really interesting characters as a result.

I only tried to explain the publisher issue numbering system. There is always a line about next issue at the end like this so I don't expect it to surprise people who have been reading manga for a while.

Yep, and that's kinda the point. She just discovered there was someone who actually cared for her all along and is very emotionally unreasonable, but also easily manipulated because of it. It's frustrating and wrong, but it's understandable from her POV.
Stuff like this is why I enjoy the characters in the first place, or alternetively, why people hate them.

Im glad that those Memorys of Eren and Historia are faked by Mr. Reiss. And those kind of tortures are ok. Its AoT and not "My little Pony". I think, the next Chapter, could be pretty intense.

The first chapter I actually completely read in a long time. And a good one at that. Now this might just be me being absent from the manga for a while but I believe even the art was better than usual in this month's chapter. Good stuff.

What a great chapter. For the action - it's smart and will most likely look excellent in the anime, for the characterization - I thought the woman henchman was pretty admirable and for the plot reveals, which explain why Historia was kept alive, why Eren's momories possibly emerged in the cave and who built the walls. It also limited the coordinate power. I really hope Eren doesn't turn out to be a Reiss. Was Kenny's to become the king of humanity or is there something more behind it? A extremely packed chapter.

right now it looks more and more like the reiss family are actually the good and Eren, Levi and co are all wrong. I'm waiting for this last big KABOOM twist.
Also, I hope Hange will be okay Q_Q…

We know why Historia was kept alive and it adds another layer to Reiner's words about Eren being the worst to carry the coordinate.
We know who created the walls and why.
It's confirmed that Eren probably isn't a Reiss because only Reiss can utilize the power at it's fullest. So Eren probably can't do memory wiping or has some limits to controlling the Titans. Alternatively Eren just could be another Reiss, but Rod doesn't know about it. I prefer the former.
Reiss' objective might not be as selfish as implied because Frieda could've saved them, but Eren's father interfered.
This is condtradicted by the fact that they haven't done anything about the Titans in a 100 years. Like possibly Kenny's dream, is there going to be more to this? Maybe there's a reason within the memories of the Coordinate why they can't use the power to go beyond the walls and get rid of the Titans? If the previous coordinates had those memories, was there something in those memories that made them want to stay silent? I prefer a more complicated situation than just the one-dimensional selfish "to stay in power".

This girl from chapter 1 possibly is not Mikasa, but Frieda? Look at her clothes. Eren wakes up just like Historia after her dream.

Here's my guess: The true power of the reiss titan is to be able to control any human (with the exception of the family lines they referenced) with a certain radius (Most likely this'll match up exactly with the third wall, or perhaps extend just barely beyond it). Because of this power, humanity has been relatively peaceful, and it's also why the titans never attacked during the one hundred years. Eren's dad probably obtained the power during the last trip away, after which the titans were no longer held back because he wasn't a reiss and could now invade. Most likely the titans are bioweapons, and it's fairly probable that other civilizations do in fact exist outside the walls and are presently at war. As for the bloodlines that resisted, one is obviously the ackermans, and the Jaeger's probably also came from a similar bloodline (hence why Eren's dad was able to kill and eat Freida) Eren's power is probably the same, but works on a far more limited radius and possibly more limited scope, which is why it can't be used to actually keep the walls safe. Eren's dad probably found something (perhaps a book that had been hidden and missed by the reiss family) that gave him information about thte truth, and that's what he kept in the basement

I assume the reason no titans attacked in the hundred years is related to the reiss power being able to ward them off

Changing the memory of completely everyone is quite a convinient plotpoint. So as long as no other mole appears, noone inside the walls knows shit about the past or the outside world? All this torturing for nothing.

With Hange injured maybe Armin can get some infos out of Eren.

The Crunchyroll version is out! This has potential to look amazing in the anime. I think out of all the action bits I liked Sasha's archery and Hanji's and Armin's smarts the most. I appreciated that during the Armoured Titan fight, too. It's smart without being convoluted.

btw, the Levi OVA is out. I liked it better than the manga version. They did a lot better of a job introducing Farlan and Isabel, also as expected some of the action sequences looked really nice.
