Here is my thing with Chris Evans. He CAN act and pull off the character of Captain America. I have faith in that.
But I think he's too young to be Captain America. However, I'd prefer him as anyone BUT Human Torch (mostly because I hate Human Torch, how can his sister be so fucking awesome but he suck so bad).

Gotcha! My mistake. I've never been a big Captain America fan, so I don't know very much backstory. I respect the character though, so I want him done right.

Chris Evans went to my high school, so for me, this is cool news. I remember hearing he was the darling of our school's infamous Drama teacher. (I say infamous because he was one of those crochety old bastards you love because he loves to talk shit to students)

Somewhat. While he has a different body now, for a long, long time the Red Skull was a clone of Steve Rogers. His name is Johan Shmidt, and he was a Nazi boy hand selected by Hitler to be a commander in his Reich. When Cap killed him, one of his scientists (I believe Arnim Zola) put his mind into a cloned body of Cap. However, that body was assassinated in one of the first issues of Brubaker's run of the comic, so he no longer is a Cap clone.

An article from Marvel officially stating that Hugo Weaving will be the Red Skull. It also notes that the Red Skull will be updated for the film. Possibly means he won't be a nazi.

Agreed, they've pretty much have confirmed it's set in the WWII era. I think the only update will be costume-wise not character-wise.

I think the only change will be Skull's appearance. I think instead of having a 'red skull' look, he's going to have a charred up face/head. Kind of like Two-Face in the Dark Knight, only the entire face instead.
I'm actually pretty excited for Chris Evans to be Captain America. Evans' acting was one of the few good things (or maybe the only good thing) about the Fantastic Four films, and he may not have the look of Captain America, but he can appear to be an American average joe, and isn't that what Rogers was before he got the Super Soldier Serum?
No, he was below average. Like, scrawny. I don't know how they'd do that with Chris Evans.
Yeah, I think they'll have to find some other actor to signify his change from scrawny to buff.
I think an easy way would be to have him wear a slightly loose fitting uniform. I can be done with a few other camera tricks as well, without having to resort to much CGI. I think it would look a little awkard to try to CGI-edit out or smoothen muscles down. :x

I saw those pictures not too long ago, but I didn't post them. Don't know why. There were several of him in the white shirt with bare feet (which are fake feet by the way). I gotta say, I can't recognize Chris. Granted, I know it's him (the muscles give it away…hehehehe) and I can see it if I look real close, but I wouldn't have known if someone told me. Kudos to those behind his human look.
Also, HOLY CRAP IMAGE #4! The shield! IT'S SO SHINY! I'm not feeling the armor just yet, but I can't see much. It also doesn't look very much like Evans on the bike, but it might be him. I have a feeling though that that will not be the standard armor for him. I might be wrong.
I'm sure you know that armor is much like the armor in the old-style of Cap. from Ultimate Avengers, right?
I'm sure they'll give him the modern one (the one before Bucky) when he's thawed out into modern times.

… Oh yes, those screen'cap's look very delicious. I still want to see what the Red Skull looks like (for that matter, are we getting Bucky in this movie as well?), but so far it looks very eye appealing.
Now just keep the script riveting and the acting up to snuff and you can have my money, Captain America movie.
