Like the url says, the starters' gonna be revealed Monday. I really hope they at least keep Mijumaru (it's anime voice's so cute <3).
-
Not calling the Grass one Smugleaf would be an utter travesty.
-
Speaking of, apparently the English release date has been moved foward from Spring to 2011 Q1, I imagine to avoid conflicts with the 3DS's release.

So it should be coming earlier? If it is to beat the 3ds, I would bet Jan. or Feb.
-
Hmm, before the 3DS? I'll probably buy it and play for a bit on my original model until 3DS comes out.
-

Really? That's great! Earlier pokemon for me.
So the game should be coming out anytime between January and March.

March 15 probably.
Just to screw with Okami.
Actually, it was set as April 4th before, which is still pretty much first quarter of the year. (And its been mid march-early april releases for all the main games for years and years now.) But hey, earlier would be better. And since I think the 3dS is ALSO March 15, pushing it up to sooner would be the likely bet I suppose.

The Japanese don't have strategy guides?
Unlike everywhere else, Japanese strategy guides usually come out after the game is released (by a few weeks to a few months).
B&W already has their guide released anyways.
-
The sooner the better for my annual pokemon fix

Hmm, the Starter's names haven't been revealed yet. Do they usually announce news like this at a certain time?

Nah Pokemon.com just says new pokemons revealed November 22nd and there the silhoutes of the starters, probably by middle of the day in the USA? dunno.

Tepig Tepig Tepig Tepig Tepig…....Oshawott.
-
Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott? WTF?
Maybe it'll make more sense when it goes to their evolutions, but wow. Those are terrible names.
I get that its ivy, pig, and ott(er). But still terrible names.
Oh well, at least it means I can name it Wotter and it'll be okay.
I guess… Snooty Ivy? Snake Ivy? Same priniple as Smugleaf I guess. Tepid Pig? (moderately warm pig?) Hell. They almost actually named it Wotter. Ball dropped there.
-
Who else is nicknaming their Oshawott Wotter.
-
@Cyan:
Who else is nicknaming their Oshawott Wotter.
I will. Either that or original Japanese name.
-
Unova…how punny.
Okay, Tepig and Snivy I get, but Snivy reminds me of Snively from the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, and Oshawott...I don't even.
Weird, weird, weird.
-
I suppose the pig still has a chance to end up with piglit, pignite, or scorchog for its evos…
@Cyan:
Who else is nicknaming their Oshawott Wotter.
Everyone, apparently.
Snivy reminds me of Snively from the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon,
…...
Well, now that you've said that I can't unsee it.
He's even wearing GREEN. -
I have to give them credit though.
With the shitton of potential puns for fire piggy, they went for the horribly obscure one.
-
99% of people who are disappointed in the names were probably just too attached to the fan-names. I didn't, and already I'm warming up to these official ones. Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott… sounds good. I think I actually saw "Tepig" as a fan-made suggestion at some point, but I can't remember when or where.
Also, never fear. Odds are you'll still get to hear Oshawott go, "wot, wot, wot!" all cute-like in the anime.
Also, what's the wordplay for "Unova?" All I'm seeing is UNited States O(V) America, but that seems like a stretch.
-
No matter what happens, I still feel sorry for the poor pigeon, what with its obvious name scheme having already been taken.
-
Oshawott… Isn't that in Canada somewhere?
-
Holy shiet most retarded names ever, specially Mijumaru WTF?
Plus they changed the perfectly good name of Isshu to Unova wtf, Unova region… Argh.
-
I think I'm going to bookmark this page of the thread, so I can look back on it in half a year once everyone has totally gotten over the fan-terms and is totally fine with the official English names.
-
I'm not gonna lie. I like "Oshawott". Maybe I'm just to blinded by Oshawott's awesomeness, but still, "Oshawott" is really fun to say. Go ahead. Try it. You know you want to. Oshawott.
-
It's fortunate that I don't really know or care what any of the original names are.
-
Oshawott… Isn't that in Canada somewhere?
You mean Ottawa? XD
Screw these names, I'm nicknaming my Snivy Smugleaf.
-
^ nah Oshawa is a small city in/around the GTA in Ontario.
-
Revolver Oshawott
-
@Holy:
Revolver Oshawott
…
Fuck, I can't hate the name now.
-
@Holy:
Revolver Oshawott
I'm with Cyan.
Cheap tactic man. Cheap.
4chan ftw.
Tepig Boss
Solid Snivy
Revolver Oshawott -

I never liked the fan-names so, can't say that's my reason. XD
-
4chan ftw.
Tepig Boss
Solid Snivy
Revolver OshawottOkay, I'm fine with the names now.
Congrats 4chan, you're useful for once.
Now do it again when the rest of the names show up.
-
Hah, there's already fan art and everything.
-
Well, these names could have been worse.
Snivy could have been Plantake.
Tepig could have been Warmoink.
And Oshawott could have been some abomination. -

Lo and behold. My desire for mutton chops on an otter has been fulfilled.
-
Screw the Gen1 Starters. These are the best.
-
reads through the last two pages
Uh…I got nothin'.
The names are okay I guess.
-
hmmm I preferred Pokabu's name. Other two are fine.
That is all.

It evolves with Epic-Stone I guess

I guess everybody came up with Revolver Oshawott at the same time
We're all so clever

I was playing Poke'Park Wii: Pikachu's Adventure, and I encountered a Hitmonlee in the Cavern Zone. Looking at him closely for the first time in years, I noticed something. Hitmonlee looks like he should be a part of Generation V.
He's oddly proportioned, and he looks slightly creepy. Just like 90% of the Black and White Poke'mon.
