so who do you think he trusts the most? of course he trusts all of them and though i don't think luffy is the kind of guy who would split hairs about this kind of thing, but i think in the back of his mind, when push comes to shove it would be zoro. they seem to have a level of understanding of each other that luffy doesn't need to explain himself when he gives zoro an order, even a seemingly unreasonable one, like when he orders zoro to save smoker at the crocodile's casino and when he tells zoro they can't fight bellamy. and even when he was ready to fight arlong he grabbed zoro knowing he was injured and threw him out to sea trusting that he would survive even with the kind of injuries he had. (ok so maybe that's not the kind of trust that zoro would appreciate. )

I'd have to agree, when Luffy first met Zoro, he trusted Zoro to take out Morgan while he took out Helmeppo, he didn't depend on any other new crew member like he did on Zoro like that. Not to mention he's his first crew mate, so naturally his "first mate".
-
Yeah,I'd go with Wanderer with Zoro.
Luffy trusts him with his life. -
I must agree. Zoro for sure.
-
Yeah, Luffy and Zoro have quite a strong bond. There is no doubt that he is the one Luffy trusts the most.
I'd say Nami would probably be after Zoro.
-
Zoro CUTS TRAINS IN HALF for Luffy, c'mon.
-
looks like it's unanimous.
any dissenting opinions?
-
I though Luffy trust other then Zoro. Luffy trusted the Franky Family when they are boarding the Rocket Man, He trusted Nico Robin to join the crew, he trusted Nami to hold his hat etc etc. See my point
-
he trusts everyone with his life, that's his idea of what nakama are, given that FACT this threads feels kinda pointless
however i would say he knows and if known by Zoro the best.
-
Luffy don't trust Zoro that much!
Can't anyone remember the fight!? xD -
zoro and luffy always seem to have an understanding of eachother they never have to eplain what they are saying to eachother they just know or trust in the other. this is not to say that luffy does not have a strong relationship with the others in his crew. i know that he trusts everyone in his crew to do the right thing and he would never give up on any of them but i think zoro and luffys understanding of eachother makes them a tad bit closer plus zoro was the first person in luffys crew so they have spent the most time together. so whille he puts great trust in everyone in his crew i think he and zoro have a slightly stronger conection they seem to be on the same level of though (well not when luffy is goofing off)
-
yeah but at the same time, sanji never has to question luffy, infact only the weaker ones question him :-?
-
Yeah that exchange over Bellamy pretty much convinced me that Zoro and Luffy share a bond that is beyond all the others. Not just the agreement without words to not fight back, also when Zoro notices the Bellamy mark when the old guy and the monkeys are beaten up.
Not much to say that hasn't been said already in this thread lol..

**in all fairness everyone on the crew understands luffy bar the last episode and even then sanji showed he knew pretty well, however he was more outspoken and thought for the whole crew to stay together, where as zoro just stayed silent and…
and i wouldn't call it a silent agreement in the bar with bellemy, he told him "zoro, we can't fight".
-
Luffy and Zoro… I have to agree on that... From the chapter i saw them fighting morgan til now, i still say they are like Shanks and benn beckman
-
I'd say Nami. ^^ He didn't doubt her once in the Arlong Arc, but in Whiskey Peak he instantly got in a fight with Zoro over those bounty hunters.
-
You can fight people just becuase you trust or love them. Like the Usopp VS Luffy fight. That was a fight of trust and love.
-
Like the Usopp VS Luffy fight. That was a fight of trust and love.
 How was that a fight of trust and love?
I just think Luffy trusts Nami more. I think his bond with Zoro is different….. more of a 'warrior's bond'.
-
Yep,I agree with taboo. The trust between Zoro & Nami are different. The Swordsman have really some warrior bond,or a fight mate with Luffy.
The bond with the navigator is like an Older Sister relationship. She always take care of his strawhat, when damaged, and she tries to explain some things to him many times. And I not mentioned about the many times she worried about Luffy, when he took injuries. He always protect and listen her too.
So,I think it´s Nami and Zoro,then.
-
luffys bond is def the strongest with nami and zoro, they are his oldest crew members after all

As for who Luffy trusts the most, I'd say it's even with everyone in the crew. But the closest to him has to be Zoro. Sure, he bickers with Luffy a lot and we all remember that fight in Whiskey Peak. But I think it's exactly because of that, they have the strongest bond with each other. They are able to share a simple understanding by merely exchanging glances. That's something Luffy's not yet been able to do with the rest of the crew.
-
yeah i agree … man understand each other more after their fight B)
so, who does luffy trust the most? .... i say Zoro & Nami
Zoro because he's the first crew and they're both share almost the same immposible dream .... they wanted to be the strongest ..... the rest of the crew don't have that kind of dream
Nami because ...... well, i think is because Nami beats luffy more than any other person in the world  .... they're like brother and sister
-
Zoro. I think he's been with him for too long. SO as simple as that…ZORO
-
Luffy trusts all of crewmates.. but when it comes to trusting somebody to keep his hat safe then it'll have to be Nami
-
Gah…. Zoro. Hand down. I think it'll end up as Zoro when you put it all together. Well, duh! He never dissagrees with him like the other people. Like When Ussop and Luffy fought in the ship, Zoro didn't inturrupt and he just stood there, but Sanji kicked him and Nami continuosly broke in. Also remember the promise to Luffy in I think volume 7 anyways when Mihawk came out? If its like friendship I'd have to say Ussop, because their always sttupidly goofing off, thats why Luffy was so devastated after his fight with him. But Zoro...... In 12 he didn't even have to ask for him to get his hat in the mountain run way but he just caught it as if they tecited this plan over and over. Also in Jaya yeah they knew it was not him but "them" and also the Gold theivery. Also he wanted Zoro the second he heard of him, unlike Nami, when she asked to be a team then he said no, he said that Usop and he's a team after the fight with Kuro, he had to wait before he chose Sanji as a good cook, he first thought Choppa as good food before as a good companion, Nico he accepted, but I don't think they have that much of a strong bond as him and Zoro. They're just like silent communicating O_O
-
I would have to say Zoro too, because Zoro made a promise to help Luffy to Kobby
And Zoro never breaks a promise, just like Mihawk (swordmen honor)
Zoro doesn't ask questions he just keeps is promise to help Luffy, unless Lufy would stand in his way to being the best swordman them probably he would kill Luffy
-
I would have to argee, consider Zoro is pretty much the first mate.
-
I agree, too. Most definately Zoro. You can just see they have a special bind that no one else in the crew has. Like when Nami steals the ship, and Luffy tells Zoro to go after her. He tells luffy to forget her, but then Luffy tells him she will be his navigator and her gives in and agrees. However, I think Nami would be second becasue he trusts her with his hat- that says alot, too. But I still stick firmly to Zoro.
-
I donno its a very tough question. Depends on your definition of trust I guess. Honestly Luffy trusts EVERYONE completely until they betray his trust. As for the crew members he has the closest bonds to. I would say Luffy Ussop and later Chopper are the closest friends on the ship. You see them countless times during the series just running around laughing and having a good time. Luffy and Zoro share a warriors bond which makes them close, but outside of battles and tough times Luffy and Zoro's personalities just don't mesh very well. Zoro is very intrapersonal and Luffy is exuberant and will blurt out whatever is on his mind. Nami and him have a mother/son relationship really, which, while bringing them close, does prevent them from being really buddy buddy. Sanji… I donno. He is probally the most detached from Luffy of all the crew. Besides Luffy and Sanji both loving food they really don't have much in common. Robin its too early for me to comment, I'm only as far as KF is. SO in all honesty he trusts each of them in a different way.
-
As most people have said Luffy probally trusts Zoro the most, he'd probally trust Shanks aswell
-
Zoro, He was Luffy's first crewmate and has known him the longest.

yea i was gonna say the same thing. zoro's the first mate, luffy's right hand man. about keeping his hat safe, yea i agree that he trusts nami the most :D.
-
Trust? Luffy trusts all of them to do everything to the best of their ability.
Understanding? Gotta be Zoro, though Sanji is getting there. It's a guy thing partly, since guys seem to have a different brain vibe on things like honor and such. But Zoro seems to be able to read Luffy better than anyone else.
Notice when Zoro does question Luffy on things? He looks at him, Luffy gives him THE LOOK, and Zoro grunts and takes care of things. Plus, what Luffy says and what he means are two different things sometimes. Just look at the Buggy arc, when Luffy tells him to run, and what he means is "go to the cannon and flip it over so it's pointing at Buggy."
Actually, now that I think about it, Sanji seems to be the one who can translate what Luffy means to the rest of the crew. Zoro doesn't bother.

thats a very good point….zoros the only crewmember luffy ever had a problem trusting...(in case people dun remember the fight, its at whispy peak after luffy find the bounty hunter beat up by zoro)
anyways i think this topic is prtty pointless as i think luffy just trusts people in general...not one more than the other

YOU'RE ALL WRONG! It's meat he trusts :P.

yeh definitely zoro… i would explain why but it seems that evryones already sed all the reasons i wanted to say so i guess i wont bother
but then again, neone who joins his crew, i'm sure luffy trusts all his members but zoro in particular.

Actually, now that I think about it, Sanji seems to be the one who can translate what Luffy means to the rest of the crew. Zoro doesn't bother.Very true. While Luffy and Sanji don't have the Luffy and Zoro bond/connection, I would definitely say that Sanji is able to understand Luffy better than, say, Chopper or Ussop most of the time.. But there is one thing holding him back from having a Zoro-like bond.
"Oi, Luffy!"
How many times have we heard him say this? Far too many. When does Sanji usually say "Oi, X?" Pretty much whenever he doesn't agree with someone. -
I think he trusts Nami the most (just kidding).
Seriously, I think he trusts Zoro the most, I mean he didn't make him first mate for nothing, Zoro always obeys and follows Luffy unless what Luffy says interpheres with his promise to Kuina, Luffy can count on him to get the job done and he always does get the job done.
You can argue that Luffy just made him first mate right on the spot without thinking (which he kind of did) but if Zoro wasn't cut out for the job he could just demote him so it shows that Zoro is trustworthy enough to be his right hand man. -
Well if it is about following orders without questioning them then Luffy definitely trusts Zoro the most. Examples:
-
In Alabasta, when they escaped from Rain Dinners Luffy told Zoro to save Smoker. Zoro did it without questioning it though he couldn´t have been pleased that with this the most dangerous marine officer they´ve encountered so far will still be there to chase them.
-
Same arc, after they left Rainbase Luffy stayed behind to confront Crocodile. He told everyone to deliver Vivi to Arbana. Zoro was the one who then said to go on, though he couldn´t have been pleased to leave his captain behind with a Shichibukai.
-
In Jaya at Mock Town. When Luffy, Zoro and Nami first confronted with Bellamy Luffy told Zoro not to fight back. Again he didn´t say a word but did what the captain asked him to do, though he couldn´t have been pleased to get beaten up by Bellamy.
-
On Longring Longland, when they fought with Aokiji Luffy ordered Zoro and Sanji to get back to the ship. Both of them did it though once again they couldn´t have been pleased to leave their captain behind with such a powerful Admiral
All in all, when it´s about trusting that one of his orders has to be taken care of, then I say that Luffy trusts Zoro the most. But since One Piece mostly isn´t about giving and taking orders, but more about friendship I say that Luffy trust all of his nakama equally.
-
-
I think when push comes to shove, they all listen to their captain the same…
In addiiton, I'm sure Luffy trusts them all the same; he'll trust any one with his life, I'm sure.
When it comes to being able to relate to him, Zoro comes first and Sanji second; only the real fighters can relate to him in most things, though Zoro a bit moreso than Sanji due to being in the crew longer. At least, that's my take on things.
-
First off, I'd like to state that alot of the refferences cited here are not really Luffy trusting Zoro, but vice versa… and in that respect, all of the Strawhats, while they may worry over him, trust Luffy implicitely.
Unless it involves keeping him away from food, then they could only trust him as far as they can throw him into a seastone chains.
As for who Luffy trusts the most, above all.... well, it really depends on the situation, doesn't it?
Luffy trusts Zoro when it comes to anything battle or honor related. He also trusts Zoro to win all his fights due to his promise. He trusts everyone else to do their best in this respect. If Luffy didn't trust in his Nakama, then he'd have to go around saving them, na?
When it comes to his Hat, he always hands it to Nami... something so personal to him, something that is his treasure, he hands to someone who was a thief and who used to work for mermen. He probably doesn't consider these things at all, but it is Nami who he trusts with it. He also trusts Nami to get them places safely since he doesn't know how to navigate at all.
Finally... he trusts Sanji better than these two in one powerful respect. He trusts Sanji to make great food! There is no deeper bond than Monkey D. Luffy and good grub made by Sanji, na?
-
I agree with most people here in saying that Luffy trusts Zoro most of all.. they seem to be perfect nakama.
I just cant see anyone else sharing the same bond with Luffy as Zoro can.But Luffy trusts Usopp and Chopper the most when it comes down to having fun and screwing around!! XD
-
I agree perfectly with the last post. I've always thought Luffy trusts Zoro most…
Only one time I thought that Luffy was going crazy not trusting him, at Whiskey Peak when they battle each other... but after all, it was all about Luffy not being aware of the situation XD
