Watching 235 it's impossible not to see how far Luffy has come, not just as a character, but as a leader and captain, you could see how much he relies and believes in his crew and the things that he does have to think about, he's really become a great captain.

wrong forum, and besides, there's already a discussion about 235 in the One Piece anime forum. Closed.

Opened this for discussion since this isn't really about any single episode.

I agree, but it's kinda strange that you take the one episode where he has a fight with his crew as an example..

Yeah, personally, I did not think 235 was one of Luffy's shinyest moments. But he definately has come a long way from the careless kid in the early part of the story.

my 'intelligence' thrives in moments of disarray. no other times though lol
well most people would use the Bellemy bar thing as an example to his progression, it's just you could see by his composure. even his body language screams experience, when talking to usopp he remaisn firm but casual and maintains a smile.
i really don't know how to explain it, i'm not talking about fighting ability i'm talking about the ability to be a good captain and at episode 235 it really hit me that he's grown into his job incredibly well, he's a first rate captain.
235 was the most important in regards to his captaincy though as all series thus far Usopp's challenged him for the title, he's the only one to challenge Luffy infact and supressing that is the culmination of his growth thus far.

Only at the beginning, when he told him there were going to get a new ship…which was the wrong time to have a smile. After that, he was flying off the handle and said something stupid.
