is anyone else a little tired of this war? its been a long time i wanna see the crew together i miss then T.T
thank god law is there hes the best!Yeah I thought the war would be better so I came in with the mindset that I didn't care when I saw the rest of the SHs but between my expectations not being met and all the lame Jinbei/Hancock talk not to mention the new dumb theories that the war has spawned my focus has shifted back to finally getting to Gyojin island and entering the NW.
-
The one who will spawn now will be Shanks ^_^.
He will save that hat before it get destroy… -
can any one give me the part that Oda tell us that a man would explain everything about the devil fruits and the link please ??

thank god law is there hes the best! The war's been great, but I agree, it's time for it to be over. I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with the pacing, I just want to "cool down" after all this crazy stuff.
I also want to see the Strawhats together again. Sure, I'm curious as to what upgrades they've all got on their separate travels, but I really just want to see the crew interaction. I even found myself watching old filler episodes I skipped over just to see them all together.
-

thank god law is there hes the best!Yeah it's a bit weird, I want the war to end too to get to the "new era" and the SHs back and all, but the last few chapters have also been the best ones in the whole of OP in my eyes. But Luffy is really out of the picture now, Akainu is probably not going to destroy all the division commanders + croc and continue pressing Luffy, because really, who can stop him anymore then? But I still expect Kidd to show up and do something useful, I mean just Law showing up would be weird, and the BB vs Sengoku/marines fight needs some resolution, probably Wolf that is going to make their escape possible. So I wouldn't mind if it continues on like this, but not 10+ more war chapters..
Ofcourse if Oda wants all the supernovas to play a part, then it could still be quite a while. It would make sense too, since they're also part of the new era, the upcoming powers.

I feel sad now.
I only asked a not-Moria-related question.
Jeez.
Germans, these days.
Moria is ugly no body like him :getlost:

@Essam:

I like him.
Damn, I just decimated your entire argument.~

Admit it, you slipped up. Very disappointing.. ^^
@Jazzfeezy:Good job Wintergt!
Loved it anyways especially the Akainu bit!Thx man. I was just playing your song again too, ha good stuff

thank god law is there hes the best!I'm not tired of the war per se – I think it's been perhaps the best arc of OP to date -- but I am more than ready to see the Straw Hats back together. Whenever I read old chapters or watch old episodes, I see them and think, "I miss you guys!" I can't wait for the reunion scene(s)...it's going to be very emotional and awesome.
At any rate, the fact that Oda had the stones to split the crew up and then proceeded to make such an epic arc without most of the main cast at hand still blows my mind.
@Essam:
can any one give me the part that Oda tell us that a man would explain everything about the devil fruits and the link please ??
I think what you're referring to is in the Volume 48 SBS. (Scroll down and you'll find it near the bottom of the page.)

Yeah the arc was epic but still it is time for some SHs once again. I always predticted all of them would make an epic entry at the war but I was wrong. Even if they reunite once again. I'm looking more to the next battle to see their new abilities. FI would be now a good place after WBs death

I thought the crew would show up, too. At least, I thought that Zoro and Perona would show up (since Perona's got to get back to Moria somehow and it would have been convenient), but I'm more than satisfied with how things ended up.
I'm pretty interested to see what Nami, Franky, and Robin might have learned on their respective islands. Zoro, too, since there was that mysteriously shadowed swordsman in his story…maybe something haki-related?
-
Dunno we have to wait and see. The only new powers we can say for sure I think are Nami and Franky.
-
Meh, I got glorious boobs.
's all I needed, really. If that colorspread was done at any other time, you know people would be praising it.
It just came in the wrong timing, when everyone wanted a spread relating to the current showdown. No, I wouldn't be praising it at any other time since I'm never praising (with the exception of chapter 516) Strawhat color spreads. I simply do not care for them and they annoy the hell out of me when the postpone title page stories. And I don't care for the Strawhats with animal crap title pages either.

Agreed 100%
Plus, again, the ridiculous proportions of Oda's ladies stands out especially bad in this one. Robin looks like you could hold her in one hand by her waist…
-
if they strawhats would actually do something on that colour spread it would at least be nice to look at. -__- but they're just lying next to each other and i find that kind of boring and non-creative. so i don't care for this chapters colour spread.

Well I love this arc. There are a very few (and rare) defects. I don't really miss the SH, we saw them for the past 10 years and the next 10 years too.
The current arc is THE result of Oda's work. 10 years, creating a world with detailed background, and now all that is destroyed, shifted, and a new era is coming.
If the crew wanted to be there, they should have been stronger, that's all. Zoro is the only member I don't blame since he's the one training harder and anytime.
I mean, Luffy did a few things during the war, but what would be the point for the other SH being here ? Most of them would have died / be captured. Weak weak weak :). -

 uhhh okay…
you dont like some of the awesome colourspreads, where oda shows his awesome art in his full perfection...seeing sometimes those much details there or how he uses colours(when he can do it:happy:) is always amazing for me. i think it
s always a great variety to see the crew in differnet places having fun and stuff^^but those animal-theme covers i have to agree with you..some are rly good but most of them are just..."well, skip over them and hope for a cover-story next time"
-
Lets just hope we get a official color of WB pirates before anime gets there. The same with Kurohige no kaizoku dan.

yeah a colour spread of the whitebeard and blackbeard crew would be awesome, same for one of the marines. i'd love that.
and please oda .. give trap-chan a name for godsake! i can't even nominate him for the tournament!!!! T__T

Ok my recap for this chapter is done.

As far as colors are concerned, I think Oda should rather focus that effort on actual chapter pages (as he did back then in the early days) instead of wasting it on Strawhats that have sex with hippos and monkeys. :getlost:

, fangasm…yeah that feels nicce
but back in the early days..?
i think he reached his top so far in the skypia-arc with all that amazing backround work(but that isnt even from oda most of the time..more from his assistents) to the details of the charas: mhh, i don
t think right now its more bad or good as before.. i hope you don
t mean his first 7 volumes orso with his early work, cause there his art was still in progress and got better with the time (even when prä-arabasta it wasn`t that good at all for me)i don
t know but i like his coverwork..it
s a time to chill before the amazing chapter starts..
also we know that oda loves to draw animals and so i think it`s also good for the story when oda can a bit relax in his art and than goes for the real deal with the chapter itself.. -
Ugh, I can't believe people are complaining about the colour-spreads and cover pictures.
First off, you guys are lucky you get cover stories at all. In case you haven't noticed, Oda's the only one who does these. Second off, cover stories are slow as hell anyway and rather than develop the story, they're more of an excuse for Oda to let us see the side-characters he created fool around and do their thing.
And it's the exact same with the colour spreads and cover pictures except with the Straw Hats most of the time. If you actually took your time to examine them, you'd be able to appreciate the creativity, great art and great characterization that goes along with them. Let's look at the last colour-spread as an example. You have Luffy acting his all hyper self spreading his arm in happiness, you have Robin playing with a parrot on her finger, you have Brooke flailing his arms in excitement as a parrot picks on his afro, you have Zoro getting attacked by a parrot because it's Zoro XD Just one picture yet it appeals so much to the characterization and world-building and making the readers feel how human the characters Oda creates are. The role of the cover stories is really the same plus, as a bonus to, make everything feel like part of a much bigger picture. He could get rid of them like the anime did and it wouldn't make any difference at all to the story.
Quit bitching and appreciate not only the fact that Oda hasn't degraded to boring generic cool pose, make the fan-girls wet shots most other manga have degraded to and the fact that he puts so much monumental effort in the colour spreads and cover pages in the first place.

The SH colouspread sucks balls.

As someone who officially has one of the worst tastes on this forum, what you think about aesthetics means crap.
-
You're only disappointed because Oda didn't make an admiral/BB/WB colorspread like you expected him to. He never even said he'd make one. Besides, weren't the last couple of color spreads the Strawhats as well?
If Oda had never made the Shichibukai spread in the first place, people wouldn't have started to get their expectations so high, so maybe that was a mistake on his part.

that's why some people prefer cover stories over colour spreads and cover pages with strawhats + animals. don't get so worked up over peoples opinions. ^.^

I like many of the colourspreads, I don't really have any issues with Oda doing them. However, you raise the point that annoys me with the recent colorspreads, SH + animal and other things Oda has used to delay giving us crucial information that relates to the main storyline.
For me, when Oda decided to actually give us coverage of the individual SHs, the cover pages should have been dedicated solely to this IMO. Even if Oda had continued all the colorspreads in between the individual SH follow-ups, I wouldn't have cared. But Oda did SH + Animal, then gave us the follow-up of only two pages each, and then did another SH + Animal. That's a slap in the readers face IMO. He could have decided those extra two pages to more follow-up content, and I'm sorely disappointed that that isn't what happened.
It's unnecessary teasing and suspense, especially after doing the initial SH follow-up stories. [/rant]
-
Guess I'll put my two cents in.
I love seeing the Straw Hats, especially in a nice color spread, but I think that the WB or BB pirates would've been better, or even a cover story instead.
But it doesn't matter to me any way, as this was a good chapter. [/is late]

What crucial story development? You're missing the point of the cover stories which is not to develop the plot but to give us a glimpse of the side-characters dealing with normal life. Take them all out and it wouldn't make a lick of difference. Coby joined the Marines? Jango and Fullbody joined with Hina? Hachi opened up a takoyaki restaurant? It's neat that when they come into the story, the events feel more natural but had Oda never done them, they would still be acceptable, non-deus ex machiney plot twists. Even that thing with Enel will probably be explained again in full when it comes to it in the story. Speaking of Enel, weren't a lot of people bitching during his cover story?

OMG QFT
I can't believe the amount of hate this thread has generated for Oda's colorspreads. I thought One Piece stood out from all the millions of other manga because of Oda's unique style, one that didn't rely on cool poses to get the drooling fan girls/boys(apparently). I guess a large fanbase has all kinds of people.
Either way, since there's no way to change your preferences, all i can say is that i'm glad that Oda doesn't think the same way as you people who believe that the colourspreads are useless. I am glad he stills concerns himself with other things in the world than mere storyline advancement.
I like the random things he draws, the expressions of his thoughts put into picture. I am glad Oda still draws them
-
The color spread is awesome! Thats how life is supposed to be, relaxing on a big ol dragon looking at awesome birds. Much like the anime, I was wondering when people would start complaining about the opening of the comic.

…......Well you know, Oda had pampered us with such high level of quality and perfection that we got quite dissapointed with the new color spread, as we expected and hoped for another thing. We got spoiled. And we did not wanted(at least me) a cool posing. That would be horrible. We were waiting for oficial colors of new characters coz we don't believe in animators. They have horrible cliche taste. And recent events built up wonderful base for such one. But NO-we get a dragon and another opening material.

Are you talking about not getting the entire Blackbeard Crew? I think oda will save that for a later spread because it seems like he'll probably get more crew mates.
I think when this arc is ending (which in my belief still at least 7+ chapters) we'll get a whitebeard spread. (I hope, but that doesn't mean i dont want another strawhat spread)

Well if we can be sure that Luffy will get 10 nakamas like he said he needs 2 from now.
BB would need to get one as well to fit in numbers with Luffy's crew
11 vs 11

DoFlamingo for BB
Jinbei and Hancock for SH.
And add Hancock vs. DoFlamingo (former slave vs slaver; girl who's afraid of being manipulated again vs. manipulator) to your signature. -

You don't say.
What does that have to do with anything?
Stronger can't be a guy using the horse DF, because the horse DF has already been taken.
Stronger can't be a horse with the human DF, it has been taken as well.
Stronger so far has had no role besides carrying Doc Q around. We never see them separated.
Stronger doesn't seem like a talking or thinking character.
So, Stronger's a pet until proven otherwise. He's a part of Doc Q's abilities. Anything beyond that is just wild mass guessing. For now.
-
He's saying that Chopper has also been defined as a pet.

Yes, by the marines. But we, the readers, should know better, right?
-
I'm not here to argue the point, just to inform you that you misinterpreted his argument.
-
Yes, by the marines. But we, the readers, should know better, right?
Yeah he was just being a wise-ass or something I dunno. Stronger wasn't listed as a crewmember in one of the databooks so he's not one.

This.
And c'mon people trust Oda. The man knows what he's doing. I bet he's got something planned, we just need to wait and see.
