Why are you talking about Robin?

… Pretty sure he meant to post in the other thread XD

Why are you talking about Robin?
Early morning can't sleep thread scanning. But I am commenting I would like to see the Boa cosplay from "RobinChan", and it is still more about the person carrying themselves and being "in character".
Sorry, been bouncing around from insomnia of getting ready for Anime Matsuri and creating a few failed Scar prostetics and making a resin hook so a tad distracted… I tend to do that time to time.
-
Get some more rest then, because this isn't RobinChan's thread.
Never been to Anime Matsuri, but I hear good things about it. Make a thread for it when it approaches.

Another thing about me. When I left the navy I was hit with a mild stoke. So when my mind wanders… yeah It really wanders. Like three states away and at times i need a smask with the clue bat to smack me back on topic.
I try. I really do. Text, and forums get confusing. Why I can't write stories anymore.
-
No worries man. Still, wondering what maggie's status is with her Boa Hancock costume, if she got all the problems worked out.
-
I hope she is alrite. I am worried, the evil onions might have scared her off from doing boa x.x
Edit: The evil onions I mean "OO ..um x.x

sorry you guys! I've been busy lately and am on spending ban due to my ridiculous need for shoes (and a new handbag). When school ends in a month or two I'm having two people help me sew her red outfit that are going to fashion school, so I'm really thankful for the help, an I'm positive it's going to come out GREAT. I'm concentrating on losing weight and I've actually already lost 5 pounds or more. It fluctuates, weighed myself every day this week and I'm almost losing a pound a day for the past three days, which is REALLY strange and worrying but I bet it's just because I'm a girl. My weight usually fluctuates + & - 5lb a month. But I'm definitely thinner! Woo! Getting to that stage where I've got muscle now that's working off the fat.
I think I'm going to try the design for the bra I'm working on and if that doesn't work, I was considering using some kind of wire or thin plastic to just keep the fabric together and against my body. It's really going to be a trial and error thing.
True to my crazy shoe collecting nature, I found an appropriate Boa shoe (I'm choosing a slightly larger heel just because my legs are a bit stubby) that's pretty cheap but wearable even after the cosplay. I looked through a lot of Boa manga pictures and the toes seem to be pointed. What do you think?

Perfect shoes :3 But I'd went for a non-shiny version.
-
Yea, I'm getting the non-patent (non shiny) version. That site somehow only has 1 picture of the normal and all the rest are patent XD
I should order them soon~ urgh spending ban!

since I'm already working on a bra idea I'm going to go with that for now, if I run into trouble I'll come knocking ^_^
@coral: as for losing weight, I don't have a ton to lose so it's slow-going. I used to be an athlete, though, and I think that helps. I'm going on the treadmill 1-5x a week for 45 minutes/500-700 calories depending on how tired I am along with Tae Bo Bootcamp (kicking my BUTT! a zillion push ups and squats) 2-3x a week, starting yoga next week, may take up kick boxing. Also, I'm eating better than I was, which is really saying something as I didn't eat horribly before. Eating out only once a week if that, dairy only 1-2 times a day, no refined sugars, no processed foods, meat only 3-4 times a week and in small portions. Mostly fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc. I feel great! XD My 'diet' probably won't change, either. I usually eat that way as I feel it just makes more sense to give your body what it needs.

Maggie, I am glad your giving a good fight to those evil onions. Keep going gurl XD

Jesus Christ, you're a beast. How do you do it?
-
What do you mean how do I do it? Treadmill isn't that hard, I watch Lost (also Sawyer isn't too hard to look at it you know what I mean ^_~) while I'm on it. I have Netflix, so it keeps me entertained. I also have my 24" Imac right in front of my treadmill with a remote, so you know, it's not a challenge. Yoga is going to be great for me, and Tae Bo Bootcamp is amazing because it's making me stronger and helping my posture. I use freeweights with it to get more out of the workout. Everyone should be doing some form of weight training and cardio every week just for your general health. You feel a lot better.
Eating better goes hand in hand. If you're active, you NEED to eat foods that allow your body to have the necessary amount of energy. If you don't, you don't get very far. I have low blood sugar problems, so I needed to cut out processed foods and sugars to feel better anyhow. Plus I'm already relatively thin (as you can see from the pics) so it's not as hard for me as it would be for someone who had a lot of weight to lose and never played sports or ate well. I'm fortunate in that way and the way I was raised.
I have a friend that just got cut down at 28 with type 1 diabetes and now can't walk well and lost feeling in his fingers. I'm an artist and believe in good health as I have sugar problems as well, so this really hit home. "Get busy livin, or get busy dying." Take care of yourself, it's the only body you get. I feel like if I don't take care I'm spitting in the face of everyone who doesn't even have the luxury of exercising. Sorry for the small rant -_-;;
Plus I just feel sexier when I'm thinner LOL!
-
LOL NO. I have a super duper sports bra. I win. Plus I don't run on the treadmill. My knees aren't the best and my ankles are pretty bad from being broken/sprained so many times from sports. I do a high incline at a very fast walking pace. ^^ Just got off the treadmill, actually. REALLY didn't want to go, but eyes on the prize! **
-
Damn, you know how to play it smart.
-
yea being active while watching tv is the best thing you can do.. The same 30-60 mins sitting on your ass you can be running a mill or a ex bike while watching it.. it wont tire you out at all and you still watching tv…
its easy to work out around the house if you just think of it..
stuff you can do while watching tv
sit ups
squats
running
jumping jacks
bike
dumbbells
push up
crunches -
I totally agree. TV is an awesome distraction. I can't just listen to music and zone out, I get bored.
OK, this is kinda a pervy question, but in making my bra I need to decide how I want my boobs to look in the costume. I will need to figure it out because the way the support works will make the shape, as well as how the costume fits. There are kinda 3 choices: Natural, Circle, or Squish. Boa's boobs are more natural in the manga, but it might be harder to keep them in the costume that way. Circle will probably be the hardest, like how she looks in her POP. Squish will be the easiest as they'll be squished with nowhere to go LOL but I think it looks silly (as does circle). So, should I stay true to the manga, go ridiculous with the Circle, or be silly with the Squish? Preferences? Please excuse the silly doodle drawings I used to illustrate my point:
!
I've pretty much decided to make a bodice bra top with snaps sewn into it that will snap onto the edges of the costume to keep it form fitting. I really hope this will work, and it helps me avoiding tape. I just hope it won't be super obvious, you know? Won't know how it will look until I try though ^_^
-
i would say natural.
are you going to do the plunging neck line like handcock had ?
because i have an idea of what you can do..if you do.
-
Yes, I was going to try to make it as close to hancock's manga outfit as I could
-
sorry for my shitty drawning…
the reason why i think this would work is..
if you make it the right way you can hide the straps and the bra under the clothing. IF you make the bra to perfectly cup your breast you will not have to worry if they would pop out.. …
-
I vote for natural.
-
like i said before if you need some help just ask.
-
Onion for help, Maggie. I wouldn't mind sneaking inside your mantle(like luffy XD) & holding them firm for you. Gimmee a call if you need help!

Good lord! :O

helpmenow's offer is much more appealing. :getlost:
-
lol yea tell me about it lol..
what did you think about my crappy drawing?
-
LOL I liked it XD
The silicone bra, is it like those sticky-cup bras that people use? My sister has something like that (though she's a B-cup) and it actually has a stickyness to it to keep in in place. That might work marvelously. I'm thinking I'm going to have to tag-team it. Use some kind of bra and then make the outfit also have some form of support to keep me in place. Otherwise I can't think of a way that doesn't put a band under my bust for support.
-
lol yea tell me about it lol..

I think they're pretty good drawings. Love the way you drew the face.
-
not to be pervy do you have a photo of yourself that you can post for we have an idea of what you are working with then we can give better suggesting

Or just… err... not to be pervy, but like picture of my boobs in different bras with a hancock like top or something? Wow, I've lost 7+ lbs since I took that picture proud My brother just asked me today if I was losing weight because I looked thinner ^_^ -
Though it's a horrible color, the yellow Chinese-inspired dress she wears when she sneaks Luffy into ID along with fighting in the War is a safer bet still if you don't want a wardrobe malfunction. But like I said, it's a terrible color according to the anime.
The nice thing about cosplay is that you can choose your own "close enough" color as long as it's somewhat of the main color. That strange off-yellow dress might be better as a more pure yellow.
Just saying, as Hancock is not an easy cosplay, especially being your first one. Still, be prepared to give your back a workout, because lots of people will ask you to do the "looking down on you" pose. Oh, and in case someone hasn't yet, I'd recommend a wig, unless you really want to cut your hair in a Japanese princess cut for your bangs.

I've actually been working on that pose… very hard for me! I have an unusually long spine/torso compared to my legs, so it hurts a lot to try to bend back that much. Been practicing, though!
I just feel like the yellow dress is such a cop out >_< well... are her shoes still the same? And yes, I'll need a wig. Not some shitty one, though.
-
best of luck on getting it right. boa is a great pick! if i had boobs i could help but i dont.
-
Oh, wow. I commend you for taking the dive and doing such a difficult costume (including chest support) for your first cosplay!
If it ever gets difficult, look at it this way: You could be so much worse off. I crossplay, and even with a C-cup it's ridiculously difficult to bind them so I look flat chested, and even then I can only keep it on for half a day before it has to come off because I need to breath. I think that might be an impossible feat for you.
Do you mind me asking which conventions you plan on taking this costume to eventually?
And congratulations on the weight loss! ^^
(Also, I'll offer any and all help I can, but I'm afraid it won't be much. ^^; )

Woo, found out my boyfriend needs to go to NYC comicon to promote his new comic coming out nationwide so I told him I'm going to dress as Boa then. LOL THE LOOK ON HIS FACE AHAHAHA
