Yes. I approve this poll tremendously.

My vote went to Crocodile (or course). Handsome, stylish, arrogant, highly intelligent, and utterly unapologetic in his evil, what's not to love? And he's the original One Piece pimp. The fact that he tormented Vivi is just a bonus (I'm sorry, MetaMario). XD

Other than him, I like Doflamingo for his extravagance, his casual confidence, and his constant amusement at absolutely everything. And being a slaver, he's also probably kinky. XD Lucci and Mihawk would be my next choices, but more for aesthetic reasons, rather than personality. As for those not listed, I would add Enel because his chiseled shirtlessness and deluded god-complex are a fabulous combination. And of course, Zoro (because he's Zoro).

Ace was probably the most conventionally handsome character in the series, especially his design later on. Although he's not really my type, I think he does deserve to be on this poll, even posthumously.

That's just because DxC is the most popular Doflamingo pairing at the moment; before that, all we pretty much saw was DoflaKuma and (rarely) Dofla/Bellamy (and/or Sarquiss). Oh, and Dofla/Tsuru. shudder
Once Doflamingo's character is explored more thoroughly later on in the series (and he finally gets a chance to interact with more characters, especially female ones), we'll have more pairings to choose from. Don't forget that he, too, is a pimp.
Besides, a vote for Doflamingo is quite possibly a vote for The Master. XD

As for omitting the Strawhats from this poll, it's not really that much of a big deal to me. Listing all seven male Strawhats (including Chopper) would only leave room for two more guys plus "Other." The crew will always be the most popular choices, so I don't really see anything wrong with giving some 'lesser' characters a chance to shine. And like the old poll, if you don't see your pick listed here, just post who you'd prefer. It is a forum.

Besides, if you are unable to list every single male character in One Piece due to the poll's 10-choice limit, it could never be considered an "accurate" poll, anyway. Because you know that someone, somewhere, thinks Blackbeard is just the hottest thing ever. XD

Now, all we need is for someone to update the Hottest Girl poll and make sure Sadi-chan is on it. Then all will be right with the world.

Actually, I think it's more that Oda has made direct reference to the girls' attractiveness (i.e. Undressing scenes, happiness punch, "nice harenchi" when Nami's tearing off Califa's clothing) but never for the guys. This is a shounen manga, after all. I don't think there's a particular reason he draws the guys shirtless all the time, and they're a lot less proportioned than the girls are. You can have your own opinions about things, but trying to force them on everyone here is…heh. It's already a given that the Strawhats would be among the most popular, they're always on the tops of popularity charts in Japan anyway - it makes sense to give the other guys a try.

As for an explanation for my choice in Lucci - It doesn't seem like most people like aggressive, bloodythirsty males in this series. Lucci's the most emotionless, I suppose. But he's very animalistic. I like that. c;

Although being into DoflaCroc was what brought Doflamingo to my attention, thinking he's attractive has nothing to do with the pairing itself.

First and foremost, that long TONGUE that Doflamingo has is enough to bring anyone (especially girls because.. bluuuush) to their knees. There's the whole easily amusedness, which is a quality that I really enjoy. Creepiness aside, who doesn't like being around someone who is constantly smiling and laughing? I also like his hair and his sense of style. and he looks so damn soft with that coat, it just gives me the urge to crawl up one of his sleeves and nap there. XD On top of it all, the fact that he wears an open shirt really helps too. <33

well, not everyone is into "pretty boys" .. :getlost: and he is not old .. come on .. some of the sexiest men alive are already mid-40 .. like johnny depp .. george clooney .. brad pitt (well .. i find him boring and not attractive but loads of woman do like him). and i lately find gerard butler very sexy ^^ and he is soooo~ not my type. it's the roles he plays .. and his character. ^^

for me it's all in the character. you know, like .. if you meet someone who is actually really good looking but you don't like his/her character or what he/she represents .. you instantly find the person less attractive. but character and charisma do make attractive. and since i love crocodile as a character .. he is more attractive to me. ^^

regarding the missing hand .. i actually find that kinda hot too ^^'' cough .. yeah .. call me strange, i don't care. lots of pirates are missing limbs .. at least that's how people always imagine them ^^ .. you know why? coz being a pirate and setting out to the sea aint like going to a holiday camp. people fight, people die and some are just lucky and simply lose a hand, leg, arm etc. ^^ haha yeah ..

Pretty boys are so over-rated, and they're near ubiquitous in most series nowadays. Almost every manga series has characters specifically designed to be bishounen, slightly effeminate, with smooth pointy faces - and while that might be attractive sometimes, there's no doubting a lady's attraction to more rough-around-the-edges dudes, too. I'm glad Oda doesn't have to rely on pretty-boyness to make a male character attractive.

I don't know why it comes as such a surprise to some people here. Is it maybe uncomfortable for guys to think about girls liking macho guys? .____.

well you gotta admit that most girls reading manga are into the bishounen type of guy .. ^^ i dunno why though. i always imagined it's coz of the age. if you're a young girl, you want a pretty boy. if you get older, your preferences change. you start finding pretty boys boring, guys need to impress you with their charisma, character and attitude .. not with their looks.

Most of all, I think it's probably because even though Ace was a great character to begin with, none of us ever knew how painful his personal history was till he poured his heart out at the end. I thought it was OOC if him at first, but it begins to make more sense if you realize that he probably hid his doubts from everyone so he wouldn't have to face questions like "Why do you look so upset?", etc.

I'll have to admit that, while I loved Ace as a character (he was always very cute and likeable), I didn't pay as much attention to him until after Oda fleshed out his story and gave him motives behind his actions.

I chose Lucci, anyways. But Ace is definitely among my top most favorites now. o:

He didn't bore me, but he wasn't my favorite either. He had his cute quirks, but it's true that his story wasn't very well developed back then - which is why it was so shocking to find out he was descended from veritably the most famous, mysterious pirate to have existed. One Piece is a lesson in contrasts, and I think Ace's card was well played. (;

Ace had his own mysteries. Maybe people who don't like him probably didn't think the same way, but I remember wondering from the first time I saw him why he didn't have the same aspirations as Luffy did. Why would Luffy, a headstrong guy bent on becoming the Pirate King and who wouldn't bow to anyone, have a brother stronger than him but who deferred to another pirate as his leader? I wondered why they were so different and if they were really related, just as the crew did.

Oda didn't want Ace in the limelight just yet, but Ace's plot consists of some of the best foreshadowing I've seen in One Piece yet - he took elements from everything about Ace's past and wove them very deftly into the final story. I thought Ace's cumulative ending was beautiful. And Ace was never my favorite. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate him as a great character.

Voted for ace. Obvious. I don't know why I love him so, just the moment he appeared in the manga I just loved him. Plus I SWEAR I always like the older brother character. Every time. I refuse to believe that a character such as Crocodile is somehow more gay than a talking reindeer in a oversize pink hat. If anything, Crocodile romances both the sexes, which makes him a sort of super-pimp.
