I've already requested Nami to be shipped now, even though I haven't gotten an email from HLJ saying that it's ready for payment. It's something I normally do. It'll probably be the last POP I get from there, because AmiAmi's prices are better. However, it won't be the last thing I ever buy from HLJ. They still carry more than AmiAmi and Play-Asia.
Guess what I'm trying to say is, don't put your eggs into one basket. For here,that means don't just blindly order from one site only. Whether it's one of the 3 sites I listed or ones other people have used. Just do your research.

I think the pre-orders are just there to make it appear on your page and to get the Early Bird discount.
They should invent something else for this, don't call it preorders

And yeah, about HLJ…didn't know that about shipping. I didn't realize that I'd have to babysit my preorder so that it doesn't get sold out before it ships to me (I haven't ordered from them before). Kinda defeats the purpose of a preorder, no? I thought items normally are supposed to be reserved for you when you choose this option. :wassat: I guess I ought to make a billing agreement and change my shipping preferences, then. frown

I was abit unsure about the WCF's value for money but they do look really nice. Will only collect ones of my favourite characters though
I don't know much about prize items, and how hard to get it.
But just based on quality and price, I don't think its worth the value.The sculpt is awesome, but the paint isnt that perfect, some of them are just messy.
I might buy a complete straw hat crew with suit, but that's it. Can't afford to spend $700 (exclude the shipping) for such a small figures.

It's ridiculous too, I even emailed them through their Ebay account to ask about the figure I was ordering since all my emails to their SITE email bounced back as spam, and the little forum they provide with the site is "closed due to inactivity". I wouldn't trust the site now since nothing's up to date, the guy who responded to my clear concise Ebay message didn't bother to tell me it was probably not in stock either, so it looks like a sound excuse to get my credit card number. They don't use Paypal normally, they require you to plug in your number to some "Global Wire" network that "goes through paypal" for you. Wtfisthatlol

They're not suppose to hold the items for us.Maybe someone from HLJ don't agree with the system and make his own rule.
And now they kicked him out, so we're back to where we are suppose to be.First, I thought it just some bullshit they make to cover someone's mistake.
But then they actually gave me a written rule about not holding the item, etc......so its actually part of the system.
I'm not trying to scared anyone, I just want everyone to know about this. So at least you guys can prepare for the worst.
Regardless, maybe we'll still get our items like usual.......but seriously, I don't wanna risk it.SHIP IMMEDIATELY!!!! I'm not going to wait till its sold out. Hahahaha

Nope, they're bullshitting you, pal. I lost count how many times I emailed them after my initial 14 day limit to pay expired asking for more time and they replied "We understand. We'll continue to hold this item for you. Thank you for contacting us." The whole refusal to hold items began when they started the committed payment method, before they'd give you 14 days to pay, and as long as you asked, even longer if you needed it. They got sick of so many people canceling and/or asking for them to hold an item for months that they got rid of it.
Shame, that was the aspect I liked MOST about them.

well it seems that the solution would be to give them a credit card and allow them to charge it when your item comes in, this way you should definitely receive your item. This the only thing you'll have to do is remember what you preordered and whether you still want it or not, and if you dont go in and cancel it before it comes in stock…as opposed to monitoring the site for the exact time products come in

presumably these "sudden things" happen before you need to pay for the items though….if something comes up all you have to do is think to yourself "well now i cant get that POP" then go online and cancel it

I've ordered something else from Amiami that's due to come out in a few weeks, if they provide good pre-ordering service/shipping I may just switch to them. Planned to get the Croc POP there anyway because the discount is so sweet. If HLJ is no longer honoring pre-orders…. sad, sad day.

i wouldnt go so far as to say they arent honoring preorders, they just want to have a way to somewhat guarantee the sale. if you think about it the old system must have been wildly unmanageable. While it was great for us to be able to cancel and order as we please without any obligation, this must have been a logistical nightmare for them

Lol. I'm just going to be very careful with the two things I pre-ordered from them, and once that's over with, I'll stop using HLJ too. There's no point in pre-ordering if they're not going to hold items.
They should just set up a "no canceling" rule if they're that worried about canceling - doing something like this just makes it almost antagonistic. Maybe us canceling orders wastes their time, but having the customers hawk over the site all day to order each item is just as much a waste of time.

no site can stop you from canceling a pre-order if you really want to, there is simply no real legal obligation to pay at that point. the only way to do it is to require payment up front or a credit card, etc, then they can say no cancellation. the fact that hlj is keeping the option to have a preorder with no obligations on top of this you might view as a gift. i understand people's emotions are high because this was extremely convenient for many, including me, but i'd rather this than having to pay for all my preorders up from. that being said, amiami is at the moment much more convenient, but if you violate their no cancellation agreement even once odds are they wont accept orders from you anymore

Like any reputable mail-order company, HobbyLink Japan only charges customers for their orders when the items are actually preparing to ship. So even if you place a preorder for merchandise that has not yet been released, we won't charge your credit card or PayPal account (if you have a billing agreement in place) until it can be shipped.

I got my "order" in earlier thanks to this thread. I preordered SW Nami the very first day she went up on HLJ and would've been seriously pissed if she sold out despite my preorder. Hope everything turns out ok for the rest of you folks despite HLJ's ass backwards system.

I stand by the claim that online petitions "do nothing", but generally these are used for massive things, for this I actually think they'd listen. I suggest seeing how so many of us are against this change that we set up a petition, with each of us writing in our own thoughts on the matter so it's not just a "list of names". They're a business so they won't change things at a drop of a hat, but they also realize we're their business, they don't want people switching to AmiAmi left and right.

Only reason I keep shopping from HLJ is they let you cancel stuff… as for people like me with unstable economic issues, this IS a good thing.
Bu on the other hand I prefer AmiAmi's prices.
I have a few things ordered from there and now I want to cancel 1 of them since it'll be too expensive for me by the time it comes out... But I can't. And I honestly don't know what to do. It's a really hopeless situation, if I pay for it I'll be in a pinch but I can't cancel it. And it's not like I don't want it either… PLUS I don't want my other items cancelled. I REALLY WISH AmiAmi had order cancellation option; that'd make them the perfect shop ever for me.
