Pre-orders work best if you have everything set to ship as it becomes available. I've never not gotten an item from HLJ when I've done it like that. But if you want to maximize combined shipping, it gets a lot trickier. You have to keep an eye on the stock statuses like a hawk and make sure to send requests as soon as the popular pre-orders come into stock.

Yes, we never know when the item will be available on HLJ,
so that's is why they want us to keep checking it everyday.
And once the item available, you should send it immediately or
they will sell your preorder item to someone else.

Hm, if I remember correctly (and if HLJ didn't change their policies) if you preorder an item with NOTHING ELSE, that is considered 1 order. When that order comes into stock, it ships. If you order it with other items that have a later release date (again, since ordered at once it is 1 ORDER), HLJ will WAIT FOR YOU TO REQUEST SHIPPING to ship the available item or wait until all items are available IN THAT 1 ORDER and will ship them together.

I remember there was this whole huge fiasco with another kind of figure that I collected, and we (as in the community that collected that figure) got the HLJ order system down pat so we would get our items. Ordered everything only 1 item at a time. If the release date is the same, though, everything should ship the same day, no shipping request needed.

Ever since I've ordered preorders that are released on different times separately, and got a paypal billing agreement and HLJ ships as soon as it comes in.

Though I still don't like the idea. If I messed up with this crazy system or they suddenly changed the rules, I would be out of luck bigtime. And with figures that are hard to get the instant they're released (and virtually disappear within 3 months of being released) I don't like taking chances. We stalk the site for preorders, should we have to stalk the site for when the order comes in, too? Unfair. And not nice to hardcore collectors. Shame on HLJ, they should know better and respect collectors' nature.

Though I've been ordering from them for years and years, I've gotten burned a few times and it still smarts.

this is something i really hate when ordering from HLJ. you have to check the site everyday and request shipment as soon as your ordered item gets available. if you don't have a billing agreement with them you need to wait another day for them to request the payment .. you pay and wait another day for the shipment. hopefully this is easier with amiami.

You can also use a credit card now, and they simply charge that when your items are ready. You don't get a chance to say "Wait, shipping seems a little high" and then choose to cancel, but if you're using SAL you're not going to do much better elsewhere anyway.

That's what usually happened to me for the last 2-3 years.
It just happened to me last month.
Preorder the item way back, a month later the item become available and they been selling it for a couple weeks….then it sold out...........
I didn't request the payment cos I thought they will do it automatically and will keep the item........but no, I got nothing.

But I'm seriously hope everyone get their items.

Ok, Nami is still "ORDER STOP" status, while Zoro is "Feb RESTOCK"….

but on my account it said low stock......so hopefully that's good, and meaning they're keeping the item for us..........but they are clearly saying that they will not holding the item, and it might sold out while we're waiting.

You're getting some serious competition from other places in Japan with better prices on preorder items, changing their shipping policies to allow SAL, and giving other benefits, coupons, and discounts to their consumer. Plus many of them offer a less confusing ordering system that guarantees your preorders are reserved for you. Step up, please, or lose your customers."

Just wrote HLJ a polite but lengthy email. Here's hoping they listen. I've met the owner and he's kind and listens to the customer, so I really wish that he will get to read what I wrote.

Part of me really wants to just go gung-ho with amiami, but I REALLLLY want to know what their shipping is like and whatnot. I've got at least 10 items on preorder with them, completely blind to their shipping/billing procedure. I sincerely hope they don't disappoint.

My girlfriend just paid for the Obahan set using SAL shipping. It costs ¥3643 on their website. She paid ¥4333 total. Pretty normal shipping rates if you ask me.

Hmmmm I have no problem with this atm. So far I've never missed anything (Although I have it so they automatically process them with my credit card.)

Although I'm probably more pissed off with them cus of the fact you can order a set from them and not get the whole set (See Monday's posts.)

That and I'm still pissed off with PlayAsia cus of their hidden costs while shipping and also AmiAmi is like stupidly expensive when it comes to shipping. (That and the No-Cancel thing is a joke.)

well some people say that they only ship small packages with SAL … since POPs are really big i'm not sure if we get them via SAL. but according to a lot of amiami customers, they have a great customer support and also offer a split up of your order. so that would basicly mean .. if 2 POPs don't qualify for SAL and the EMS prices are too high .. you could ask them to send them seperately with SAL. XD i wish there was something in their shop which i would want to buy just coz i neeeeeeeeeeeed to test them!!! XD

Yeah, that's what I hate about HLJ also - once you order is collected and you get payment request, you can't split it even when you are willing to fully pay for the whole thing. Best you can do is cancel things =_=

Not getting the DX Seven Warlords figures? I realize that AmiAmi is selling them in pairs, so if you wanted Croc but not Moria, that would be a problem. But no POPs either?

Well, if you look at the top of this page, I listed the example of the Obahan set + shipping. So as soon as she gets it, I can hopefully alleviate some concerns about AmiAmi's international shipping.

I'm so sorry you guys have had such a problem with HLJ. From my experience, I have generally always gotten a shipping notice because I have that 'ship available orders' thing checked? But you guys are making me worried and paranoid should I request shipping because for me they have generally ALWAYS sent me a payment notice without me having to do anything?? and OMFG you guys don't think World Collection Figures are worth it? for some strange reason I do… because they make characters NO OTHER SETS WILL EVER MAKE such as most of the Supernovas, even KAYA. No other set will EVER include her... but I always wanted a figure of her so I gladly collect the WC figures even if it eats away my money xD

I think those sets are too expensive for what they are. Although they'll be forgiven if they make a Little Garden set of Luffy, Nami/Zoro/Sanji/Usopp, Vivi, Valentine, 5, Goldenweek, 3 and Carue

And i preordered the GLM Vol.3 and the DBxOP Zorro (maybe Piccolo too)
